October 2010 MOTM!
The battle raged back and forth as the BeastMaster's pets ran in and out of the water distracting the gutterfish as their master lashed out with whip and spear, and the necromancer attacked with her life drain spell. Ultimately by the conclution of the battle, the beast master sat there having little to no SP left and all the fish had either been eaten by their own kind, or they floated there motionless. The Necromancer had gained a level from the mixed experience from the fish and the rats from prior that night.
Issac sat there patting the wild dog he had named Rooner-2's head as he let his SP recover. "Looks like that's most of them for the moment." He said and after quick breath slipped away his spear and started to dig around in the river where he had just been standing a little prior to that and started to salvage things from the plants that rested at the river shore, which in reality was what he had come here for in the first place. The Wild dog didn't seem to have had any damage dealt to it because he had been called out of the water soon enough, but grouch had a bit, though the boar, though small, was still tougher than other animals of it's level, and would likely recover, even though the animal recovery time was much longer than the human one.
"So what did you need to clear the fish out for anyways?" He asked as he went about his work, pulling away bits of vegetation and slipping them away. "were you just wanting to grind or did one of the fishermen send you?" he asked. The fishermen were one of the only people that worried about the gutterfish. "or was it a more obscure request?" he asked with a laugh. His accent had lessened over time slight, but he still sounded distinctly European in that English wasn't his native tongue.

Itchira opened her skill list after she finished searching the fish, she didn't find anything. Looking through her various skills she started mentally debating on what she would get, she figured she would increase her raise undead until she can get a second one.

She gave a light nod when she heard Issac say that they had killed most of them. However she didn't really say anything until he asked her why she wanted to clear out the fish. "Oh, I got a quest to kill the fish from that old fisherman." She smiled some before asking him a similar question, "What do you need to get that you had issues with the fish?"

Issac was presently elbow deep in what looked like some sort of lily and turned his head around to look at his recently obtained partner. "Hm? Oh me? I was just wanting to do a bit of harvesting is all. I didn't have any goal in particular." He said with a slightly sheepish grin. There wasn't many people to just randomly harvested from plants. There wasn't much EXP to be had from the woodsman skill so far in the game and so a lot of people didn't bother to work on leveling it.
"I harvest them and then I go and sell them to the botanist." He said with a nod. "It doesn't give me the experience that hunting does, but it's more relaxing in my opinion." He said with another smile. It would seem he wasn't a very competitive gamer. "So did you see the notice board?" He inquired casually, just making conversation.

[You bring up the stats window and it will prompt you to upgrade. And then you just add the points as you would with any other game. You just edit your character sheet to reflect the additions.]

Itchira gave a light nod as she listened while also adding to her skills. Once finished she looked toward Issac and said, "I find this entire game more relaxing, the exception being when were attacked of course." She laughed some before lightly rubbing the back of her neck. When she heard him ask if she had seen the notice boards she shook her head, "No. Why? Is something new on them?"
She rarely checked the notice boards. Really only going there when she encountered a bug or error and that was only to drop a report in the forum bug page, as you can never trust only the in game report one. So she was often surprised when things happened.

Issac just nodded as she voiced her opinion on the relaxation of the game. He then shrugged when she inquired about what was on the boards. "Yeah, i've been getting swamped with messages from folks I know about the stuff going round on them. KSI apparently said something hinting about a event or something promoting group activities and all of a sudden there's a guild boom going on." He said shaking his head. He wasn't allowed to talk about things involving the companies plans or anything that he has had disclosed to him, but he was allowed to discuss what he personally thought and what he had seen himself when he was working over in the game outside of the company time and character. "only thing is, that there are only so many guilds out at the moment, and they can only hold so many." He explained rolling his eyes as he sat up from the water bed and wiping off his hands. Though it had yet to be reached by all but a few, guilds did have a maximum capability of 200, and sense there was over 2000 players in the English server, it means that they would need over 10 guilds maxed out too accommodate the boom.

Miz took the shards and counted the some before nodding. If she doesn't believe she can hit them by throwing get close. She could even attack them assuming she doesn't miraculously do more damage than him she should be fine. "Alright, Im ready." She stated.

Itchira gave a short 'oh'. She didn't really care much about joining a guild, she played to have fun, she didn't see the point of joining a guild. You may get perks but that didn't really matter to her. "Well good for them then." She said with a laugh.

[s'allright Wolf, It happens. XD I'll be taking it to battle page for your fight now.]

Issac just laughed and shrugged. "yeah, too much drama." he said and looked off down the river. "So do you want to trek down the water a way and see if there are any more? This was just a pocket of them after all." he asked. and he had a point. there was still a good bit of river around it. They had really only cleared out one area, and it was quite likely that there was still a lot more of the little bastards, especially up around where they hadn't been, like where the old fisherman himself was at. The gutterfish they just killed weren't likely to have been the ones bothering him. Though by killing these it was likely that they reduced how quickly the general population of them would recover. "I've got an idea on trying something I've wanted to try for a while now anyways." he said with a bit of a grin at the thought or plan that popped into his head.

Itchira nodded some, they could go down, kill the fish. Once they take care of those fish she could turn in the quest. After that she wasn't quite sure what she would do. "Whats your idea."

[well then take charge of and press forwards! >.< Or do you want it to digress into me telling the story and you jumping in? XD ]

Issac just gave a slight short like chuckle when inquired upon about his idea. "I vant to try and drag a few higher level wanter creatures from up stream down this way and see if we can't get the gutter fish taken care of." he said with a rather quirky smile. It was a rather insane idea in that it required trying to maintain aggro from a creature while not only not getting killed by it in the water, but also then having the creature in their area if it doesn't get taken down by the Gutterfish. But then again, he was a beast master.

Itchira started back toward where the fisherman was, wading through the water, her rat walking under the water as if followed. That's why she liked undead, they didn't need to breath, they didn't need to eat, they just stand there until you need them, and follow everything you ask them to no question. And in a few more levels she could have two.

A sigh came from her as she listened to his plan, it may work, but it had a chance for her to die painfully, well not actually painfully but still. "So you want to pray we don't die as we lead a higher level fish toward lower level violent fish?" She shook her head as she couldn't believe she was thinking about it, but it sounded like it would be fun. "Sounds like a plan."

Issac laughed as he walked along the shore on the other side of the river. He didn't worry so much about the creatures on the coast in this area of the region, so he wasn't worried about it. He walked along with Rooner-2 and grump as he listened to what Itchira had to say. "Well, I was planning on just praying that I don't die as I run around up there, but if you want to come along you can. " he said with a chuckle. He didn't mind, but he was a good bit higher than the woman and if he needed to he could probably take out the higher leveled fish, but then again he could always help if the woman got in trouble so he was fine with it either way. He did however just give a odd look at the rat that walked around oddly at the bottom of the river.

Itchira thought about it,moving from the water toward the shore when she noticed they were getting closer to where the gutterfish was, then telling her rat to get out also. "Sure, sounds fun, plus its better than waiting down here and draining the fishes life while praying some huge bear don't come out of the woods and completely own me."
She mentally laughed as her mind started filling with that announcer from the old mortal kombat games, 'fatality'. Her mind also had various phrases like 'you just got pwned' and such running through. However she didn't actually laugh till she somehow started thinking about that one announcer voice from the original warcraft game telling her to 'build more farms'.

(as a note, this was actually my thought process while typing this post)

"Alright, well then let's work our way up, I'd get out of the river itself though otherwise we'll be dealing with the fish a lot sooner than we had been planning on." Issac said with a smirk as he made his way along, the sound of the bank next to the river making slightly squished sounds as his weight rested upon them, and the water lapping against Itchira added into the orchestra of sound. "What's your level anyways?, if you don't mind me asking." in inquired making casual conversation.

Itchira stepped out of the water and started walking along the shore just behind Issac. She was slightly lost in the various old game memes and other things that started running through her mind. However she heard him ask her level and she said, "Four." She thought about it for a second before asking, "Why, whats yours?"

"Oh, I'm just a seven, no big difference. I was jus-" He turned around and verbally reprimanded Rooner-2 who was snarly at the reanimated rate walking once more on the shore. (This is of course he got onto land behind Itchira, if that was not the case let me know.) The dog stopped but didn't seem overly happy. "sorry about that. I was just wondering on the grounds of seeing if something goes south if I need to help you get out or if you can handle it." He explained, not in a disapproving but more informative manor. He was thinking ahead in regards to his team. Something most folks didn't do unless they were playing a supporting class. "So have you heard that they're thinking about opening up the servers for a completely open beta?" He inquired as they went along the river back, he scanning up ahead and around to make sure there were no nasty surprises waiting for them. KSI had come out with an official media statement saying that they were planning on opening the servers for a higher of players. There was rumored but no official report that they would be releasing a new patch into the game when they did so as well.

Itchira nodded as he said his level, seven wasn't that far ahead. Then she could hear the dog, Rooner-2, snarl, then Issac scold it. She sighed some before looking toward her rat, which seemed unaffected by Rooner-2, it hadn't received an order other than follow so it didn't do anything other than follow.
"I can handle some things, but there are quite a few things which might cause me a problem." Itchira said with a laugh.

She then heard him ask if she heard that KSI was going to enter open beta. "Are they sure their servers can handle it? Plus are they sure they have enough helmets to go around? Well they are the company so I'm sure they thought about everything, I just figured they would go with a second round of closed beta invites before opening the world up."

Issac looked over his shoulder at the girl and shrugged. "You make a good point, but personally I'm not a businessman so I can't say for sure. I know that the more open beta will only be on the German server which is from what I hear far ahead of this one. We probably won't see much more than the patch and a new stream of beta." He offered.
As they made their way along the river bank he kept an eye out as they passed by the top of the round about that surrounded the river and they started up a bit along the main branch. "I got to say what worries me is when they release new classes and I find one I like." he said with a laugh. "I'm rather fond of BeastMaster so it'd be hard to leave with all the progress." he added with a chuckle.

[s'all good. There's no rush on this, after all it's not like you've got folks waiting on you save for me, so it's find. :3]

So, after Kaidi threw the first mana bolt, the boars squealed into action. After another two mana bolts and a good ole' thwack on the back with a staff, one of the boars was finished - though the other boar took a few more hits and gave some back. After a fairly lengthy battle (for a low-level priest), and a minor health potion, the last boar finally collapsed into digital death.

Now Kaidi checked the bodies for loot, and was pleased to discover a boar hide, and on the other a boar tusk. Not useful to her maybe, but she could sell them to the tanners for a little bit. Money was useful, she'd discovered, especially for things like gear, and hey, after she'd gathered these herbs, she'd get some more. Now to get to work.

Crossing the bridge, Ianna had Kaidi turn around often to check for other creatures. However, soon she was by the water's edge, and nearing the plants she needed to harvest.

As luck would have it, the area which Kaidi was now searching through the aquatic vegetation in was until just recently inhabited by gutterfish. However the population in the general area was no longer a point of concern seeing as some persons had of just recent removed said pests from the general vicinity.

The plant she was looking for was the blue star water lily. This particularly distinct plant wasn't hard to pick out, however there also didn't seem to be an abundance of them in them in that particular spot of river. There was but about five budded flowers at the moment that show in the dimming light. For night was beginning to set in the world of LZ.

(I'll send you a message on what you're able to salvage form the plants lass.)

Ianna spotted the bludding flowers, and steered Kaidi over to the five blooms. Delving her hands beneath the water, she attempted to harvest the first of the blue star water lilies; all she needed was the roots! However, luck was not on her side at that particular time, and she got nothing. Ah, well, it happens. Moving on to the next of the five, she managed to get one portion of 'Blue Star Water Lily Root' - a real morale booster.
The next plant she harvested offered the same, and, for a moment, she was certain that she would get what she needed in only a few stops. However, when she went on to the last two in this little area, they offered nothing. Frustrated, Ianna had Kaidi turn into the darkening water and wade carefully along the river bank, keeping a close eye out for enemies.

"Yea it doesn't help we only get one character." Itchira said with a laugh. She kept her eyes on the water, watching for any high level fish. "So whats the plan with the fish?" Since Issac was going to attempt to control the fish she figured that the same plan as last time wouldn't work. "And will you lose control of either of your pets if you do gain control over a fish?"

As the sky darkened it became nearly impossible to properly gauge what lay within the water. however across the fields outside of the river and along the entire region there were small sparking lights popping up across the landscape. These little lights were fireflies, and the small insects left an surreal, yet almost haunting feel across the land. And though there was no undead creatures stalking this beginners region, the feeling in certain areas was that some certainly could just rise up in the dimming lights and illuminated by the fireflies lights lay waist to the land of the living.
During the night many animals became dormant, yet there were some that became more active instead and those who were near threes could hear the cries of screech owls and other nocturnal beasts.
Along the river bank the blue lilies were not very rare, it wasn't too hard to find them and a little ways up the river Kaidi spotted another one, just one, blooming in the dull light out in the river.

Issac-R just nodded. "Yeah, but in a way it makes sure that we can focus on that one. And who knows maybe they'll open it up to more characters when the beta ends for the English." He said with a nod and then grinned when inquired about the plan. "Weeeeeeellll" he said in a bit of sideways kind of fashion. "I'm hoping that we can find a alligator to pull along into the gutterfish. And then I'll hit it with the prey scent and let things settle how they may." He said with a nod. "And if I was going for a Alligator then yes I'd likely loose control of one of them, sense they require a good bit of will, but I could take a regular gutter fish easily enough, but then it'd die just soon after because they have to be at at least 1/2 health for me to subjugate them." he said, explaining the mechanics of his class.

Kaidi went on along the river-bank, the eerie light illuminating the pathway easily. Thankfully, on this side, the water lilies were easy enough to see, and, while not plentiful, were not rare either. The ethereal light was enough to see by, and she waded over, cautious of anything she might not be able to see.

In other video games she'd played, for example Oblivion, at night time the water became black, and you could never tell where the enemies were in it. In this version, though, it wasn't too bad - the fireflies made sure of that. However, Oblivion was an old game, and couldn't really be compared to this one. LZ was doubtlessly more real; overhead, owls screeched their nightly territorial cries, and cicadas were finishing their dusk-song.

Now she stood before the next flower, and began harvesting. She was granted another lily root, and went on in search of the next plant in the soon-dimming light.

By the time Kaidi came across another plan the night was fully set, the water was dark and hard to see through and yet it made the light coloration of the flowers she was looking for all the easier to come across. She found a set of three of them next, sat there close to the opposite shore. Yet before she could draw near them there came a slight ripple and the feel of something brush passed her legs. Yet the dark water med it impossible for her to tell what it was, whether a common fish, which so far had been avoiding her legs, a snake, turtle or other marine animal, or something more sinister that had been cooked up by the designers of the game. Though she was still in the starting region and so it couldn't be anything TOO bad, but still in comparison to that of the level 3 priest was used to, it could be something twice her level at the moment seeing as it was outside of the center island zone, and at night.

(sorry, bit of a piss post.)
