![]() Welcome to San Diego's very own gaming convention, San Con, 'where your health and sanity will be tested.' The convention director has a poor sense of humor, so we're ignoring his joke. The players in this RP will control people attending San Con 2010. Over the course of the first two days, nothing interesting happened. However, the third day promises to be very interesting for one group of strangers. The occupants of Gaming Room 6 will be subjected to something they were not expecting, and should they survive, will emerge stronger for it. Blank Character Sheet The nature of the plot requires some level of secrecy on my part. As DM, this is to be expected. The only information I will freely part with at this point is that once the RP gets rolling, strong fantasy elements will come into play, and the modern aspects of the characters will either fade to irrevelence or become the defining points of the individual characters. This will depend partly on the characters and partly on the players. As stated in the discussion thread, there is some level of character quality required to make this work. I put out a few samples to show what I was hoping for, and Malice, Silver Ramziel, and Jester took three of the samples for their own. I highly encourage all three of you to customize as you see fit, in order to make the characters more personal. The personalities, talents, and histories of these ordinary people will drive the plot, so expect a certain amount of detail to appear in the story that relates directly to your characters. I would prefer 4-6 people in this RP, not including myself, as I won't be controlling a character. |

well then I'll start off this party with my character. Name: James Forrest Age: 23 Description: James is of average build, he neither falls under the physical personification of the skinny master nerd nor the overweight guru. He's approximately 5'11 and weights around 145-150lbs. He has green eyes and a light shade of brown hair cut at just below his shoulders, usually kept up in a ponytail. He keeps his facial hair at a connected mustache and Goatee. He wares a pair of thin framed square glasses for reading. Background: James is the son of Edger Forrest, a man among men in the world of table top games. Edger had seen the creation, and evolution of Dungeons and Dragons with his own eyes, and when he had a son, he started the young James off on the basics. James was raised around the game, his fathers friends coming and playing, and at the age of 7 he was allowed to join in. He learned the tricks of the trade from those whom had help develop them, and for 16 years he also watched the game develop. He is a battle hardened born and bread gamer, and despite now going to school for Game Design and programming, James still sweats and bleeds the game his father instilled such great love of into him. Outside the confines of the gaming rooms, James always had a fondness for video games as well. He considering them to be a plethora of creative concepts which is what motivated him to take up the creation of them as a future. He has also loved history, mainly European history. Also when he has spare time, he enjoys sowing and will often make stuffed animals and donate them to needy children causes. His personal forte being a rather plump rabbit design that he likes to call Mr.Floppy. He keeps for himself a small black stuffed sheep whom he has named Muhammad, whom he even brings with him to games, often as a elbow rest. Beyond that however he is a rather average guy of his age and standing. Edited by Jester, August 19, 2010, 10:24 pm.

Ramziel, by all means, customize whatever you want, or start from scratch. You don't even need to use the "Genius, Jock, Veteran Gamer, or Spiritualist" tags. Those were just examples. Jester, very good. The only thing I'd ask that you flesh out is talents outside of gaming. I'm going to use the non-gaming stuff later in the story. |

I'll get working on a profile ![]() Let me know if I need to add anything to Mei's profile. Name: Mei-Hua Ming [She likes to be called Mei (Simply pronounced “May”) Age: 17 Description: Mei is of petite build, roughly 5’3 and weighs around 105 pounds. She tends to walk around with earbuds plugged into her ear all the time. Whether or not the ipod in her pocket is on depends on the girl’s mood. Mei Background: Mei grew up as your typical fresh-off-the-boat Chinese child. Her parents were first generation immigrants and worked hard to give Mei a good living. They were – and are – very traditional and practically worship hard work. Mei learned from an early age to take advantage of every opportunity that passed her by. And if there wasn’t an opportunity, well, then she learned to make one. Driven and determined, Mei loved to make her own decisions, but often her parent made them for her. She learned how to play the piano and the violin; how to speak Chinese, English, and French; how to play volleyball and gymnastics. Mei excelled in all of these things, as well as the rigorous academics her parents forced her through. Mei will be heading into college in two months at MIT [Having skipped two grades]. She is indeed a very intelligent and talented girl, quiet and polite, kind and gentle. To her parents, she is The Perfect Daughter. But carefully hidden away from her parents is Mei’s wild streak. Mei discovered DnD after an accidental visit to their website while on a late night research spree. Tired of being suppressed for so long, Mei found refuge in DnD, one of the few things that her parents would allow her to do for fun. Being her only outlet, DnD let out an explosive amount of stress for Mei. It was playing the game that Mei developed her enormously exuberant personality. She’s energetic to the point of that-girl-is-so-hyper-if-she-says-one-more-word-I’m-going-to-throttle-her and loves loves loves to laugh. Her spirits are always high, and she’s very nearly always up for anything. She eats a lot of sweets during conventions, but she fidgets and twitches so much that she practically burns off every calorie [“What my parents don’t know won’t hurt them. Much.”] Risky and brash, she doesn’t usually listen to advice, even if it seems that she hears it. She doesn’t tend to take things seriously, but it is possible to play a decent game with her because underneath all this insaneness the “original” Mei is still down there somewhere, and she does have to settle down sometimes. Tox, very good. Now we need Rammy to make with the character, and we need at least one more. A hint for anyone else looking at this, the group will have an easier time of it if at least one of the characters is more physically oriented. We have three people with a focus on the mental aspects, all of whom I have eeeeeeeeeevil plans for. |

Sure. Make a character. The group's survival would definitely be increased with the addition of a bruiser of some kind. Punching things may be called for on occasion. |

Yeah, it's good. A bit on the thin side, but it has all the details I need for my plans. The evil ones, not the ones concerning the ice cream cake in the freezer. Anyways. We have enough people, and it'll be a reasonably balanced group, when we get rolling. I'll most likely put the IC thread up tomorrow afternoon. It's a bit after 7 here, so calibrate your local clocks accordingly. Any last-minute characters may slow me down as I adjust accordingly. For those of you who are watching but haven't joined yet: I will accept a maximum of two more people. The next two good characters get the slots, not just the next two. Joining mid-game will be problematic. |

Wander a bit if you want. When you're ready, head to Room 6 and we'll get started. The first bit is stage setting until everyone feels like they've established their characters. If James is the sort to take his time, then take your time. |
