Thomas looked up at his companion, then back at the ground.

'Human...territory...hm?'

Thomas was by no means stupid. Had he the opportunity, he would have known all about the workings of politics, government, outside cultures and societies....

War.

♥~Sociology Lesson~♥
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Because of the guarded "personality" of the Winged Kingdom (and it's isolated nature), the information allowed to pass through to its people is controlled, and quite limited. If ever there was a survey conducted on the population of common-folk in this Kingdom, regarding things considered common knowledge in the regions outside it, one would be surprised at the results.

Although generally perceived as "well-educated", most of the population of this Winged Kingdom are actually quite...'ignorant'. By no means is this their own fault, though. It's more the workings of a (surprisingly) suppressive government. Thought not quite a "dictatorship", the Monarchy that is the Royal Family has decided that it is in the best interest of the Kingdom that "outer-worldly" things stay where they belong; outside their walls, as not to corrupt their ethereal nature. Information is regulated, and the only books allowed are scripts that have been certified by the Monarch himself. No one is taught about the war, and the prince is no acception, despite his being more educated than the average youth of this era. (Education in this period, if one would even be granted the luxury, typically ended when the child was around thirteen or so, if he was lucky. In the Winged Kingdom, there is an abundance of wealth, allowing people the leisure to further pursue their education. Still, this process only goes up to a certain point.) Having spent most of his free time in the castle's library, Thomas is significantly more literate, and well-read than his adolescent counterparts. Unfortunately, as mentioned before, certain information is omitted, resulting in, non-purposeful, ignorance.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The young prince processes the information that he's just heard. He contemplates asking (um...) [insert-name-here] about the death of the Princess, and the war, but decides against it. He will try to find out more on his own, he decided.
Or, at least, he shall try.

"Um...can I ask what you're named?" Thomas' request comes out as an unintelligible mumbling sound. He tries again, a little louder.
"M-may I ask what you're named....?" Well, at least his voice didn't crack as much that time. A little embarrassed, he rests his sights on a fuzzy piece of fabric on his pants, and starts to fiddle with it nervously.

She was engrossed in her thoughts as they rode down the path. The smell of chaos already flew into her nose as she looked around. Green hair as bright as the grass pointing out all over the place like she hadent brushed it in a long time. That however, was true. Her structure well built and strong, tall and firm. Her elven ears pointed on the top with golden earrings on both sides with a flame mark. Her cool sky eyes looked over to Tommy, as he tried to say something out loud. The boy was socially impared, as was she, but she was too outgoing, and he was too shy per say. " W-what's your name?" He finally managed to say, or did she hear him wrong?

Oh excuse me from my manners. It's Twilight.

My smile that lit my pale face was showed to him. I did not know how to deal with this, but as the sun started to rest over the horizon and make my hair a warmish orange green I looked like I was glowing. " Tommy .." I whispered loud enough only he could hear. " If, if you die, I'll fight God himself to get you back." It was awkward, so I laughed to cover it up like I was joking before my face turned a bit pink and I looked straight ahead.

(I am on a ps3 using a controller to type so it might not be good or very long but i wanted to make an effort to post.) "We could very well do just that." Tyrin said with a serious tone. He looked down at his fathers sword. "This sword originally belonged to Kolip the Wise. He was the first King of the Night Kingdom. He unified the entire race of vampires. And brought a peace that lasted for well over a thousand years. He still lives to this day in a secluded forest about a day from here. He can help us with resurrecting her. No she will not be a Vampire. Any questions?"

" Uh....." I said nothing as I turbed away from him, not sure of what to say. I looked to Tommy to see if he had any bright ideas before looking away again and watching King, following him as Thunder complained once more. He had been carrying two people, and the sudden fast run angered him and surprised him. He was talking non stop about it until
I sighed and jumped down, almost remembering the hooves as they impacted the ground, but my frown entered my face when I knew it was just my stupid feet as they called them. I sat on the grass and sighed taking a battered banana out of Thunders pack. Even if I didn't have to eat, it was good not to show them I could eat grass. " Well Im going to stop for the night, I don't think I can handle anymore complaining from Thunder that stupid horse." I said mockingly to Thunder as he grunted. I looked to Tommy softly. " Do you need help down?" I asked.

"Tommy...."

"If, if you die, I'll fight God himself to get you back."

Twilight laughed it off as some sort of light-hearted joke, and turned his head back in the direction of the setting sun. (Yes, the sun was visible again; turning everything a sickly shade of orange-glow, including Thomas. With his friend, though, it made him seem almost shining. For some reason, he couldn't help but think that the strange, green-haired gentleman had a sort of majestic quality to him, only further enhanced by the hues of red and yellow...Very befitting of his name, however contrasting...)

Before Thomas had a chance to ask him (his new friend, who is called Twilight) what exactly he meant by what he had said, the king spoke.

"....."

Resurrection...?

Wide-eyed, the Prince stared curiously at the supposedly powerful sword; the sword that the King had just said could bring back the Princess from her state of death, and possibly end the turmoil of these lands. Was that really possible? Could mere mortals really control such a powerful tool? Something as outer-worldly as life....and death, isn't something to take so lightly. Thomas wondered solemnly about the divine punishment that could await someone who tried to tamper with God's will. It brought back memories; stories he had read: fables, myths, even verses from their holy scripts... All fiction, respectively, but their lessons were clear....weren't they?

Thomas was shocked out of his deep thought when.....Twilight....jumped off the horse.

He looked at the prince sympathetically (or, as Thomas had perceived it, with pity) and offered to help him down off the horse. (Did he think that he could not do it? Well...Thomas had never ridden a horse before but, it was a little disheartening to hear his friend treat him so pathetically. It wasn't as if he was a child, surely, he could at least get off a horse!)
The young prince looked over the side of the creature, and down at what seemed like 50 meters.

("Paranoia tends to exaggerate things, Thomas".)

He rubbed his swollen wrists tenderly as he visualized himself getting off the horse, falling and landing face-forward into the ground (hard). He imagined the pain of a broken nose, fractured wrist and twisted ankle (adding a little more than insult to his present injuries...), and, needless to say, Thomas felt all of his willfulness drain away.

He pouted his swollen, red lips and blew at the long, blond fringe that covered about 1/3 of his face (only to have it file back into place, unlike the rest of his disheveled hair.)

"Uh....m" Thomas nodded; yes. "Please."

I continued eating the banana, trying not to show my distate for it. It was too sweet. Of course, I could live off of Hunan food, but it was so disgusting! I tried not to throw up and tried to imagine the berries of my childhood, the flush green grass that never yellowed. Those were the days. I sighed as I stared at my banana peel, often watching as humans threw it away. Were we supposed to throw it away? It looked delicious! I moaned, and threw it into a bush to my dispise. I wouldn't want my friends to think I was actually weirder than I already was. I looked from King to Tommy before becoming engrossed in thought.

Tommy clearly hadent ridden a horse before. He didn't even seem to know how to even hold on to the saddle, and it looked like he could fall off at any moment. A snort if amusement passed through Thunders nostrils. I shot him a look before Thunder looked away and ignored me. I shrugged my shoulders. Thunder was just jealous I wad paying attention to other boys now. I winked at him just to agitate him more. The black horse twitched, trying not to flip out for the frail boy was still sitting on his back.

Tommy had now made it clear he now needed help, which brought me to think about how to bring him down. Normally, I would just pull them off, but Tommy didn't seem made for that. I twisted my mouth, deep in thought before just improvising on what I should be doing. Taking his hand with my right and than lifting him up with my left, I delicatly lifted him up and put him softly on the ground. I slapped my hands and smiled in complete happiness. I was happy to have not dropped him.

" Tommy, Im sorry did you want to get off yourself? I thought.. Well... Um..." I scratched the back of my head in embarresment," I could tell you haven't ridden a horse before so I thought you wouldve needed help, and besides, Thunder is at least a foot taller than you." Thunder snorted almost laughing.

Thoma's eyebrow twitched at the indignity of the whole situation, and he solemly looked up at the ebony-colored creature.

It was true.

(Thomas visibly lowered; if that was possible)

He was taller than him....

(And Thomas couldn't shake the feeling that horse was laughing at him....Probably his paranoia acting up again. Horses don't laugh...right?)

Tyrin sighed as he looked at the blade. Before they could approach Kolip they had to cleanse the sword. His father had tainted it and the blood of many beings had stained the sword. He held the sword up to the failing light and the blade seemed to draw in the light causing a dark aura to surrond it. "If we are to get Kolip to help us we must return the sword to its former glory. This means going through the arduous task of cleansing it." He slowly lowered the sword and set it in its sheath. "For now we must sleep I will do the first round of guard duty." He dismounted his horse and walked a few paces away to a tree and leaned against it his finely tuned ears picking up every sound.

" Yah and if at least one freaking mosquito bites me Im blaming you guard man! " I announced messing with him as I took Thunders pack and saddle off. He nodded in a thanks and collasped on the cool grass right away, like he'd been waiting his entire life to lay down. I just shook my head and chuckled to myself. I looked to Tommy and smiled a small, not too special smile before becoming more serious and play hitting King before I settled my head onto Thunders, hot comfty back. " Have you gotten fatter Thunder? You are more like I pillow now." I whispered as he tried to snack me with his tail and missed. I threw Tommy a blanket and gave King a rag. I looked to the vampire. " I know it's worn out, but vampires don't get cold do they? And if they do too bad." I muttered before yawning and grasping the warmth that Thunder gave.

Thomas stared blankly at the King through a slit in his bangs.

He was so envious....

Why couldn't he be all cool and nonchalant like that? (Look at him...it was as if he lived in his own world; completely disregarding their little interaction and leaning up against the trunk of a tree.)

("Thomas, there's no way you can compete with that.")

A blanket hit Thomas in the face, cutting off the silent glare that he was sending the king. He examined the blanket. It wasn't as soft as the comforter he had on his bed back home, but Thomas still felt comforted by its texture as he rubbed it against his fingers.

He looked back over at Twilight, only to find her asleep.

'That was fast...' (A comical sweat drop goes down the side of Thomas's face.)

He looked around at the ground, trying to find a spot to situate himself (this was his first time sleeping out-doors, and he was having a hard time finding any place that seemed comfortable enough to sleep on.) Finally, Thomas settled on a small patch of grass a few feet to the right of the tree where the King was standing (-err, "sitting"-) guard. He gingerly laid the blanket on the ground and lays upon it. Then he turned his back to the King (and Twilight, who was also in that direction) and covered his body and head with the portion of the blanket he wasn't laying on (creating a nice little "Thomas-cocoon").

The young prince watched as the sun finally set, and darkness consumed the earth around them.
Looking up at the moon and stars, he silently recited his people's ancient prayer.

He did not need sleep. Vampires could go days with out sleep when needed. He did however slip into a state of semi consiousness. He appeared to be sleeping both eyes shut but his ears were twitching at every sound made. The moon was in the process of setting and the sun was not quite up yet when he heard the all to familiar sound of a sword being drawn. He quitely walked in the woods a dagger in his hands and circled around the would be assassin. He quickly dispatched the man and proceeded back to camp and shouted at the two to get up.

Thunder woke up first. Than I. I wasn't exactly asleep, I was dreaming about blood and death as usual, liking often into the real life moon, not actually sleeping but not quite asleep ether. This is what happens when you arenot what you are supposed to be. I groaned before I heard a buzzing of a bug I knew too well. My eyes slowly moved to it, and my mouth began a small frown. King didn't have to wake me up. I pointed at the mosquito and glared at him. " WHAT DID I SAY ABOUT THIS STUPID BUG?!" I yelled, not truly angry, buy definitely amused. I sighed somewhat and went over to wake up Tommy. He was still breathing, his breaths were so quiet you couldve thought him dead. He was too cute. So instead of waking him up I saddled up Thunder and out him on there just in case. Like a miracle Tommy still slept. He mustve been exhausted. " Alright mucho man. "
I announced putting my hands on my hips. " Whats the fuss about? " My favorite thing to do was make up nicknames for the vampire king.

"Some obviously wants one of us dead." He threw the blood stained dagger towards her. "An assassin tried to kill us. He was from the Winged Kingdom so I suspect he was after the boy." He looked down at Thomas he did not have to be told that he was the prince. He could tell from the way the boy carried himself. "We must move from this place right away the sooner we reached Kolip the better. It would be best if you woke the boy now."

I caught the dagger in mid air, feeling the blood on my fingertips. It was well-made. What a waste for him to throw it at me. But, I was somewhat confused. We were in human territory, and the winged people didn't care about their little prince that much at all, and much less abandon their 'watchers' title and try to bring him back. Somethig smelled fishy, but it couldve just been the weird smell of mucho man. I lifted up the dagger and licked the blood off, tasting the blood as it ran into my mouth. I shook my head. " No, it wasn't a winged person. It was ether human or vampire I couldn't put my finger on it, you did taint it of course, but at least I can tell his kingdom isn't after him. I was about to put the dagger in my shoe, when I pushed too hard and I cut myself. 'Tch.' Was all I could say as blood as silver as one of my eyes glowed down to my boot. " This is why I like magic better. " I mumbled, rolling my eyes. The pain was nothing I couldn't handle. Ripping part of my short and wrapping it around it was the best I could do for now. I shook Tommy gently. " Hey it's time to wake up but you can sleep again when I get on... Shh." I said.

Isn't it abnormal that someone could fall asleep outside, in the middle of some god-forsaken forest (with nothing but a blanket on them) and not in the comfort and security of their own room?

Thomas had spent countless nights up in his tower, just watching.
He would sit by the window stile and stare up at the vast, star-covered sky. Soon, he would be watching the sunrise and the movement of the people below; and that may take up a large portion of the day. Sometimes, at night, he would sneak down into the castle (while it was, for the most part, vacant) and attempt at things he had read in a book, or heard earlier that day. When he did sleep, Thomas would dream strange things....; they could be sad, or happy, or just plain strange and silly. Occasionally, he would awake with an empty feeling in his chest....but, he could not remember what he had dreamt of.

Thomas could never remember his dreams....and he hated that.

"Mm. Mmm?" The young prince stirred.

Golden colored eyes opened half-liddedly, and met with Twilight's own gaze. After a few moments of continuous staring, Thomas blinks away the sleep from his eyes, and proceeds to rub them.
He finally seems to be aware of Twilight's presence and he looks up at the boy questioningly.

I laughed like the ringing of bells before I repeated myself. " I said get up basically but your up now so everythings good. We are on the road again." The irritating gushy feeling came from my hand as the frantic turned silver. I glared at it, willing it to stop, but of course it didn't. I sighed, and grabbed Thunder with my good hand and jumped up. He snorted as more weight fell on to his back. " Dont worry I'm pretty sure we are just walking today." I whispered, patting his neck as he nodded. I looked over to mucho man. " Ok where is your old friend dude? " I asked bluntly as I stared at him in disbelief. Really? Was this what we were going to waste time on?

"No I am positive it was a Winged Person. He had wings there is no getting around that fact." Kuyler looked between him and the boy on the ground. "You are more then capable of taking care of your self so I want you and the boy to take Kuyler and get out of the forest." With that he turned around and walked into the dense shrubery. An hours walk had brought him to a small stream suitable for the cleansing to begin.

I jumped off my horse and stopped him with my bad hand. 'Tch.' I muttered getting silver on his shoulder. Yes, it was an abnormal color. But that was not my problem at the moment. I clenched his shoulder tighter my fingers clenching the skin of shoulder, as I could feel the irritating pain become gradually worsen. He stopped, and I turned him away so I could look into his eyes. " Dont you DARE." I poked him in the middle of his chest. My face was sincere, and my silver and one blue eyes darkened. " Dont you dare go off on your own AGAIN. Don't order me around like some kind of puppet. I'm not one of your servants who will listen to your every wim. Actually, I think I've been a little to nice on my 'mission' and don't forget that it was you who wanted to tag along. Not I to you. So don't just go off on your own. Yah sure it's all part of your 'plan', but than again, it could be my 'plan' to ditch you." I snorted and turned around. I didn't really care what the reactions were. I still had more to say. " I don't know what a friend is. I don't know what company is. I don't know what love is. All u know is the feeling of hate. No one has ever loved me and no one will. I've been trying my hardest to find who will accept me for who I am. And I met you guys. I've been someone I'm not just so I wouldn't be tossed away like a peice of trash, again. So I say we do this all together or not at all because I can cope alone. I've done that my entire life vampire. And nothing will change that ether. And nothing will change the distate I have for your kind. I'm not kidding anymore. Go find a cave." I announced non chalantly before walking off and finally muttering," Well you in or not? I'm asking both of you. If not, I'll happily ride on thunder and do my job." It was a heart ache feeling, knowing I might be alone again. But just the past few days, could last me another thousand years. And that, was good. I had enough of this little game.

I looked and remembered.....

-------------------------------

I was happily, no more like angrily munching grass as my best friend, Nightmare, ate beside me. He was, in fact, the only friend I had. I looked up at him and smiled, a golden strand of hair stuck in my eyes. " Want to practice our human forms? " I asked, as he lifted his head up as well, his hair a dark blue. " Hmm..." He said between mouthfuls. " Sure why not. You first. " I nodded. " Ok. " Bracing myself as I walked backward, i felt within myself. ' Every person has soul, you just have to find it. ' My hooves suddenly became hands and feet, as the cold stone structure became delicate pink skin. My tail disappeared as I started standing upright, my white coat slowly shifting away. Than there I was. Naked, but a human. However, nether Night nor I cared, for we did not know the nature of humans. It was normal for us. He started snickering. " What?! " I asked irritated. " Your hairs green again. " Ever since than, even if I had perfe Ted my hair so it could be it's natural color, I always kept it green. Just for him.

--------

" Night.... " I whispered. I couldve cried, but my body did not know of this emotion. It could only think of revenge, and the king of vampires was right behind me. I turned around suddenly, with q killing instinct. My earring started burning hot, and I licked my lips for one short moment. It came back to me and I looked away, ashamed.

-- Monster! My ' mother ' yelled as she took her last breath. All I could do was smile.

Maybe I am.

"I am not leaving you to be rid of you" he said this softly not knowing if she had heard. He cleared his throat and spoke up a bit. "I am going on my own because only the King of the Vampires can gain entrance. And even if you were to accompany me it would be to dangerous for the boy." He was not thinking of the boys safety when he said this and by the look on his face she probably knew that. That is when the wind picked up and he got a whiff of her blood. Instantly his eyes grew a dark red and his face became pale white. He knew that scent. The most alluring scent to a Vampire was the blood of a Unicorn. "Leave now" he roared. Kuyler grew freighted by the loudness of his voice and galloped off down the road.

Psssh. The King trying to comfort me. How low have I dropped? Drastically. Ok he had some reason towards leaving, and that calmed me down a bit. But talkind down in the boy, well.... I looked to Tommy. He was frail, but it wasn't his fault. A few days of instruction, and he could take care of himself. I glared at the King. " Well there are two strong people here aren't there?" I asked, half growling. But when his nose scrunched up and his eyes started turning blood red, the only respect for him had suddenly died off. His horse was frightened as it ran off, but my horse was strong. " Go Thunder. " I said in a low, dark booming voice as Thunder nodded and started running after the other horse. He'd know what to do. Goodbye Tommy... I thought before my eyes practically smacked the king in the head. " I knew it! Your all the same even if you protest!" I growled, my teeth making a clatter as I clenched them with much intensity. My eyes burned as my earring burned and engulfed in fire itself, a soft blue, too hot to burn exactly. " Oh come on. Kill me as you've killed everyone else. I knew it would only be a matter of time before you broke down. I'm not scared of you, bloodsucker. " I growled, my hair frizzing as it too, started on fire. What ever was on fire started turning into it's natural color. Red with gold. I looked down, as I made a slurping noise, already losing conciousness of my actions. I heard Thunder stop in the distance and cone back for some reason, but I was too entranced to care. I licked up my blood, turning my tongue silver. " Want it? " I growled, my hair flowing longer. " You don't need to answer. I am the last of my Lind. Of course you do. " My earring felt like it would melt, but it didn't. I couldn't go into true form... Don't..... Please.....

"Leave now I dont want to hurt you." He bellowed as his muscles began to swell. It was obvious he was having difficulty standing where he was. His nails grew into sharp claws and he dug them into the ground to hold him self in place. Sweat began to bead on his brow and tears rolled down his cheeks as slowly his right foot moved forward. It was obvious that he was fighting a losing battle and just when he felt he would break something unexpected happened. Five white bearded Vampires rushed out of the woods and surronded Tyrin. The one who looked the oldest spoke up. "I am Kolip the Wise. Unicorn I can not make up for the atrocities commited by my people but I assure you this ones heart is pure and his actions noble."

I braces my body as I licked my lips in anticipation. It had been quite a long time, since I had been so out of control. Liquid sadness fell down his face as my defence broke, and I felt slightly guilty. Guilty? GUILTY? What have vampires done to your kind? What about Night? I shuddered, as his control slowly withered away like a dying flower. Would it be the end? Would I end up dying in this accursed form because I cared about this stupid vampire? That I would die without feeling the wind in my mane one more time? I smiled sadly and chuckled. What a pitiful being you are. I told myself.

Suddenly, the smells and sounds of exceedingly past old vampires came into the clearing and surrounded Tyrin. At that moment Thunder galloped up with Tommy still attached to his back. I patted Thunders neck. My fire had cooled down into steam, and I was slowly watching as my chances grew slimmer and slimmer. Yes, they knew. Acients could tell I was different. 'Tch.' I crossed my arms and shook my head. " No acients, you could not. I too have killed some of my kind, but it is not what I am so mad about." I looked them all straight in the eyes, no fear. " But it is not your business. " I took Tommy's body off Thunder and softly put him on the ground. " It seems I have been discovered. Well Kolip, I will not tryst your word, but I guess I am selfish to ask you a favor. Take care of these two...." I whispered just loud enough everyone could hear before I started walking away, Thunder tailing behind. " I have some business to take care of, and so does he. Tommy, if you don't know is a prince, and so you might need to take slime precautions. I don't care. But if one scratch is on ethr of them," I glared at them all," I will think twice about letting any vampire live. "

walking so far away they could barely see me anymore, I lifted myself atop of Thunder, went a little farther, and started crying dry tears in his neck.

Thomas was utterly confused at all that had happened. He had been awakened, rather roughly, from his sleep by his companion's arguing. Before he would even inquire about the nature of their disagreement, the King ran off on his horse...with Twilight following close behind.

"....."

He had been left all alone.

Again.

Thomas groans audibly.
What the heck had just happened?
The young prince looked over to the direction where Twilight had headed and whimpers slightly. He felt this strange feeling of anxiety welling up inside him.

"....."

Thomas looks down at the forgotten horse (who, in return, scoffed at his uselessness.)
He, with all the strength in his little arms, pulles on the reigns.

"...."

Nothing happens. The horse stubbornly stays in place.

Isn't that what I am supposed to do....? Thomas frowns as the horse taunted him with an almost human-like snicker.

"Um...," Thomas leans in and looks in the animal's eyes, (then, looks away, because staring in its eyes made him uncomfortable), "Excuse me...,horse." The animal made no move to answer him, of course. Its a horse, Thomas.
Horses don't talk.

Thomas gulps.

"We should probably follow them..." The horse began to eat some of the grass beneath him; ignoring Thomas rather rudely.

"It just....seems to me that....Twilight looked pretty upset." At this, Thunder raised his head.

"W...what would we do if he leaves us her-Whoa!" Thomas fell forward and gripped onto the mighty beast as it raced toward the direction where Twilight was.
After what seemed like an eternity of feeling like he would fall off, Thomas finally felt the horse stop and noticed his two companions confronting each other.

Twilight looked over to them, and Thomas could not help but notice that his eyes were a bit...dull.
What had happened to the star-like sparkle that used to be in them? He looked over the king.
What had he done to him?

Thomas was too deep in thought to notice the other people around them. All that his mind would allow him to focus on was the tragic loss of the mesmerizing glow in Twilight's eyes....and what he had to do with it.

The young prince is only snapped out of his dark thoughts when he realizes that he is being picked up.
Thomas was so filled with melancholy that he could not even feel embarrassed about such a girly act. All he could do was look up at Twilight through the slits in his light-colored hair and silently plead for an explanation.

"It seems I have been discovered." He finally says, "Well Kolip, I will not trust your word, but I guess I am selfish to ask you a favor." What had they been talking about? "Take care of these two...." He whispered just loud enough so everyone could hear before he started walking away....

Away from him.

"I have some business to take care of, and so does he." He said without looking back, "Tommy, if you don't know is a prince, and so you might need to take slime precautions. I don't care. But if one scratch is on either of them," He looks back at them with fiery eyes, and Thomas recoils,
" I will think twice about letting any vampire live. "
With that, his only friend galloped off and out of his view; leaving Thomas with a dreadfully empty feeling inside him, and a strange, unprecedented desire to cry.
