[ OOC ] The sun was beginning to set, bathing the city in beautiful shades of red and orange. Even now, the capital city was buzzing with activity. Especially around the plaza, where a bazaar was well underway. Vendors in brightly colored tents, advertising whatever goods they were selling, be it snacks, memorabilia, even services. One such service vendor, a young woman by the name of Urashima, had just finished telling the fortune of yet another customer. She loved this annual festival, not just because of the spike in business, but because this was as close as she could ever get to the castle. After placing her payment into the box she used to collect her money, she stood up and took a look outside. Her tent was conveniently placed facing the castle, a massive, white marvel of modern architecture that overlooked the capital city. Every year, the plaza in front of it became the site for a festival, celebrating and commemorating that event so many years ago, when King Iridia brought the warring provinces together and created peace in Pangaea. The latest descendants of that man, a set of triplet girls who reigned over Pangaea together, were currently preparing themselves for their appearance tonight. The "middle child" of the three, Vivian, required a little more assistance with this than her sisters, but she managed regardless. She had no problem dealing with constantly having a set of hands on her, putting on her makeup, adjusting her dress, whatever was needed. It was times like this that she wished she could see. She wanted to be able to comment on how beautiful Regeane looked, despite her complaining about having to wear dress and whatnot, to see her people, waving, cheering for her and her sisters. However, she refused to allow her disability to dampen her spirits. Her exceptional hearing was enough. |

Peron Ah, the festival! It truly was a testament to the merriment of the people and how much they loved the long-standing peace. So alive with vibrant colors, delicious food that gave off the most tempting of aromas, bright happy faces and a buzz of joyful voices. It was all so wonderful to see, smell and hear. It was a shame he couldn't come more often. Unfortunately for Peron Littington, his profession often saw him spending more time tucked away in dusty old libraries and forgotten ruins, pouring over old lore and reports in search of clues. He spent such little time in the sun that it had long caused his skin to pale. Still, he was by no means out of shape. You'd be in pretty good shape too, if you spent as much time traveling, digging through old ruins, dodging bandits and running from ruffians! Strolling among the many tents and stands, the dark-haired man glanced over signs and wares, eyes in search of his goal. Some of his contacts had informed him that a couple old artifacts would be making their way to the festival. Unfortunately, their owners didn't know what they carried or the danger they potentially posed. Exact details on the state of the items was unclear, but Peron knew what they did. He reached up with a calloused hand and gripped the black pendant hanging from his neck, brushing his thumb over the stone's smooth surface. He could feel it: tendrils of malevolent energy reaching out and desiring to crush him and his spirit, grinding him to dust. But those threads of energy simply fell away, falling back into the pendant where they brooded. Its magic could not touch him, just as no other magic could. And while it was in his possession, nor could it touch anyone else. Releasing the pendant and tucking it back into his weather-worn tunic, Peron glanced with green orbs at a tent that stuck out amongst the other vendors. He quirked an eyebrow at the sign. A fortuneteller? Interesting... he'd seen those that claimed to hold such power many times, but he could never tell if they were the real deal or not. Their divination magic couldn't touch him or follow his path very well. If they were able to see anything at all, it was more often than not, incredibly vague or unclear even to them. He shrugged. Why not check it out? He had plenty of time and it was unlikely that the artifacts he sought would be purchased. Apparently the current owners had been rather unsuccessful in selling them for a while now and it wasn't looking like it was gonna change any time soon. Walking over towards the tent with booted feet, he stepped into the tent entrance to see the woman. She was certainly dressed like a fortuneteller and the tent held all of the nick knacks and assorted paraphernalia that came with the profession. He offered a friendly smile and said, "Greetings! I saw your tent and was curious... I'd like to see what my present future looks like." ((I'm tired... I'll do Vellar's introduction tomorrow. =_= )) |

Festivals. Many people laughing, smiling twirling around in their dresses. Men in their petty coats and suits. Fire works that light up the sky with their different colors. Many people pushed past me, not knowing who I was. It was a good thing, for they would be screaming if they knew. I could light up the sky if I felt like it, but tonight, I was to just get used to things, for a little. I knew my comrades were somewhere around here, but I payed them no mind. They would find me if they needed something. Being the Leader of the Rebellion, was exciting. Many people were wearing jackets, but I wasn't cold at all, thanks to my dragon blood. Even if I changed into a human, the same blood would circle through me, which also meant, this form wasn't quite as weak as mere humans. It took all my self control not to reek havoc now, but I had to wait for the precise time. The one place i hadn't perfected in this form, atop my shoulder, was my dragon scale, but I kept it well hidden, as I watched the stupid humans go along their business. I smelled many humans, and i really wanted to eat at least one, for I was truly hungry, and even my stomach agreed loudly. The dress was very irritating as well, and wasn't as comfortable as pants and a shirt. I mumbled to myself as I waited for the right time. If my comrades told me it was ready, I would do what they wanted. My second in command was usually the brains in this kind of thing, for I had no interest in thinking up plans, for it bored me incredibly. I hadn't remembered the last time I had fun, much less been in a human form, AND in a dress. I snorted in irritation. "Stupid dresses." |

A slender hand reached out to push back the curtains and a pair of serious eyes gazed down at the vendor's square. People wandered aimlessly, staring at the wares of those already set up while a few others were still in the process of organizing their spot. The vibrant colors that filled up the square were the best part, though. It was such a show of...life. The woman watching smiled softly as she leaned her head against the window frame, wishing she had all the time in the world to go down and be amongst all of it. As if on cue, the door to the room slammed open and the woman felt a shiver of dread roll through her. "Your /highness,/" came the icy reprimand. Quickly letting the curtain drop, the woman turned around, a shamed look on her face as she glanced toward the small older woman. Gloria's hands were fisted on her hips and her jaw was clenched angrily. Not to mention the immense irritation that was prickling at Regeane's senses. Yes, Gloria was /very/ angry. The little woman approached hastily and grabbed Regeane by the arm before yanking her out into the hallway after her, not even slowing her pace when the younger woman stumbled. "Yvonne and Ella were panicked trying to find you and so they could only think to run to /me/!" Regeane remained silent, wincing at the anger from the other woman. As if her lack of response only spurred Gloria on, she continued, "I thought we went over this years ago, Regeane! Number one, you /must/ allow the girls to do their jobs, /especially/ for this festival. And number /two/, we agreed that you would not use your power for such idiotic reasons. Did we not?" Regeane frowned slightly before pulling her arm sharply out of the other woman's grip. Standing up, she faced Gloria, "'Idiotic reasons' is very relative, Gloria, and I did let them do their jobs...for a time. We never put time constraints on it." Gloria's eyes bulged for a moment, "You walked right through the wall as soon as they came in!!" The young queen shrugged in response, "Again, you never gave a time limit." The maid glared helplessly at her for a moment before giving a frustrated sigh. Turning on heel, she gestured sharply, "Well, follow me, you little brat-queen." Regeane smiled affectionately at the retreating woman for a moment before following her orders. Ah, she had not given Gloria a good reason to call her that for /years/ now. She would have to work on that. Still grinning when Gloria ushered her into her own room, Regeane let it drop as she saw the two nervous looking women standing there. She offered a quiet, mumbled apology at Gloria's snapped command, and then stood silently as they set to work. After being squeezed, pinched, prodded, and pulled in every direction, the young queen looked the part. Her normally wild hair was wrapped tightly, though a few rebellious strands managed to make good on their escape, hanging to curl mockingly around her face. Makeup applied and the dress fitted perfectly, she grimaced at the full-length mirror that the two women pushed in front of her. She always hated having this sort of thing done to her. It was so...frivolous and unnecessary. Gloria smiled evilly at her, knowing exactly what was going through the young queen's mind. The woman's expression softened, however, after a moment as she said, "Even though you hate having it done, you do look stunning, my dear." Yvonne and Ella nodded in agreement, smiling at their handiwork. After a moment, Regeane heaved a defeated sigh, "Thank you. Now can we go?" At Gloria's slightly annoyed look, Regeane walked to the door, lifting her skirts so she could take longer strides and exited into the hallway. Gloria motioned that the other two women were dismissed before strutting quickly after the queen. As they made their way to Vivian's quarters, Gloria reminded Regeane of how little time they had before the triplets had to be ready for the procession. Nodding in exasperation, Regeane scowled at the other woman, "It has been the same time every year, Gloria. I could practically do this ceremony in my sleep." 'As much as a nightmare that would be,' she added silently, not wanting to spark another argument when she was so close to Vivian's rooms. She didn't want to be flustered any more than the stupid costume she was wearing had made her. At the door, Regeane bade Gloria goodbye before turning and knocking three times, though not too loudly. For all she hated it, she couldn't wait to see how her sister's looked. It was always wonderful to see them at their full glory. Smiling slightly, she waited for Vivian to answer. |

Sierra closed her eyes, bitterly and cruelly wishing that she was blind like her sister, Vivian. If only she could not see the looks of horror and pain on the dead! As soon as the thought passed her mind and new wave of guilt flooded through the youngest of the triplet queens. She knew that Vivian accepted her limitations with all the grace of a queen, but as her sister, Sierra also knew that sometimes it was very difficult for Vivian to cope. But it was difficult for Sierra to sympathize right now, when she wrestled with her own problems. Sierra wanted to cry, to mope and wallow in her own self-pity. She allowed herself to mourn for the innocent lives she had just taken, and then finally pulled herself together. She had to do something about the bodies, hide the evidence like the many murders that rotted in the dungeons. Sierra opened her eyes and grimaced. A white dress, embroidered with threads of shimmering silver, draped her form. It matched her white hair and pale skin perfectly. But no matter how beautiful she looked, her pale red eyes always seemed to cut through everything, calling out for attention. Frowning at her reflection in the mirror, Sierra put on a necklace, a brilliant red ruby that drew attention away from Sierra’s eyes, both physically and magically. Fiddling with the clasp, Sierra caught sight of a skeleton in the room, grinning hollowly at her. The sight of it was chilling, but Sierra was unaffected by the haunting aura it gave off. Instead she turned to glance morosely at it before gesturing to the dead guard on the floor. But no amount of grace could mask the ugly truth of what Sierra had to do in order to survive. She had learned long ago that sometimes one death was worth saving the lives of many, but even that thought did not console the girl today. The guard was innocent. He probably had a family, waiting for a father and husband who would never come home. The skeleton seemed to grin even broader at this thought as he dragged the body away. Sierra didn’t know what he did with the people Sierra killed. She wasn’t sure she wanted to know. Sierra closed her eyes again, but a knock on the door made them flutter open, “Come in.” The huge doors opened without a creak to admit a frazzled looking maid who huffed, “I’ve had a hard enough time wrestling Regeane into the dress. Do I have to deal with you now?” Sierra shook her head quietly, “No, Gloria, I’m just about ready.” “Hmph. Good. Now, what happened to that fool of a guard who was guarding the door?” A shadow passed over Sierra’s face, but it flickered and was gone as she lied smoothly, “I don’t know.” “Those good for nothing brutes.” The maid muttered before speaking up, “Well, hurry up then!” And with that she breezed out of the room, leaving Sierra alone once more. Sierra sighed deeply, purging herself of all her emotions. She slid her bracelets onto her wrist and fitted her feet into her shoes before standing up. Giving one last glance in the mirror, Sierra exited the room. It didn’t take her long to reach her sister’s room. The sight of Regeane waiting at the door made her smile, "Hello, Regeane. I see Gloria did get to you." |

Cygnus Avaryne adored festivals. Even if this particular one was to commemorate the peace, something that Cygnus found…well, to put it lightly, inconvenient. But it didn’t matter right now. Hopefully, in a couple of days, it wouldn’t matter at all. Still, there was enough time to enjoy the celebration before things started to get heated. After all, such a burst of color and activity in an otherwise dull city! Cygnus had his spear strapped to his back, despite warnings. After all, Pangaea might have been a place of peace, but that didn’t mean it wasn’t a place of danger. It drew attention though, to the silver haired young man with brilliant blue eyes that seemed to glow. People looked at him with awe, or distrust. Either one. But Cygnus was in no mood to cause havoc right now, and his hands stayed far away from the beautiful weapon. His broad, cheerful grin helped to assuage any passer by’s fears, although the guards made sure to keep an eye on him. Cygnus could care less. For now, at least, his intentions were the same as everyone around him. To enjoy the festival and to celebrate the peace! Because it wouldn’t last much longer. Through the crowds, Cygnus spotted his perpetually angry commander. She was looking pretty fierce, even now and Cygnus smiled at her. He and she, they could not be more different. The one thing they shared was the love of the fight. That was just about it. Cygnus didn’t see anything wrong with peace. It was the “forever” part that bothered him. Sidling through the crowds over to his angry commander, Cygnus dared to say, “Don’t you look lovely today, Night Rose?” Of course, Cygnus was probably the only one who even dared to approach The Night Rose with such a casual manner. The rashness in which he approached Night Rose stemmed from his near immunity to anything magical, meaning that it would tire Night out if she attacked Cygnus by magical means. Cygnus was pretty happy about that. It was nice not to worry about getting your soul reaped by an angry black dragon. |

I turned slowly around to my second in command. My hands twitched and my mouth turned into a forced smile, as not to break my cover. I knew he and I were so different, people of the Rebellion often wondered how we even got along. I didn't actually really mind him, I found him a bit amusing in the entire dullness of my life. Some kids ran past me, and I watched as they laughed and smiled as they tripped. My parents owe me a childhood. I thought glumly, knowing they were dead. I reached up to my hair, which was a black color with white streaks in it. It was quite natural, but most didn't believe me. I looked over to Cygnus, his blue eyes always shining happily, like he was excited. I wish I was excited all the time. Oh the gift of youth. I looked at his silver hair and followed down to his weapon on his back. I could've stared forever as my mouth slowly turned into a frown. No matter how many times I would yell at him, he insisted on bringing that thing. I sometimes regretted and got insanely irritated knowing he mocked me knowing he could resist any magic I would use. I scoffed and imagined myself using my claw and slicing of his head. It was quite normal for me, these daydreams. Problem was, he was actually a great guy, and it still amused me he had so much bravery. I smiled once again and replied to my second in command. " Why thank you Cygnus, you look quite...fancy," I said emphasizing the word fancy as I looked at his weapon before I continued," tonight as well. Are you enjoying the festival? Oh wait, don't tell me. You are aren't you." I snorted and laughed a bit at his idiocy or whatever he was, before I looked at him again. "Did something happen? Or are you just amusing yourself by annoying me once more?" I looked at I'm with a serious look in my eyes, and itched my shoulder where my scale was resting. I hated being cramped in this form, but as to not scare the Rebellion, I had to use it a lot lately, and not even Cygnus and seen my true form yet. He was usually just mocking me knowing I hated it. He would tell me the time to break havoc, but not yet. |

Vivian Iridia Location: Vivian's quarters A knock on the door broke Vivian's line of thought. She glanced in the direction of the sound. "Come in," she called, hoping it was her sisters at the door. She hadn't heard from them all day, what with Gloria, the head maid, running back and forth between the three of them, getting them ready. Granted, the woman had already met with Vivian - she was almost always the first, since her disability meant she required a little more attention - but that never stopped the woman from returning and scolding the maids in the room for not having her ready in time. It was a fact that Vivian did not enjoy in the slightest, but yet, Gloria was good at what she did, and ultimately, that was what mattered. Urashima Shirako Location: Shirako Fortune tent Urashima sat back down, tapping the table in front of her idly. She always seemed to find herself doing this between fortune tellings, since it was usually hours before she'd get another customer. There was no real such thing as a busy day for her, and in a way, she enjoyed that, but at the same time, she didn't. She supposed it was mostly because her palm readings almost always ended up with her telling the customer when - and sometimes, how - they were going to die, and people don't generally enjoy knowing that. Perhaps that was the reason her palm readings weren't that popular? "Greetings! I saw your tent and was curious... I'd like to see what my present future looks like." The sudden greeting made the seer jump, shaking her from her thoughts. She wasn't paying all that much attention to her entrance (despite the fact that it was literally right in front of her), so the man standing in front of it must have entered unnoticed. Composing herself as best as she could, she offered the man a smile. "G-Good afternoon! Welcome!" she reciprocated his greeting, stuttering a little. "Please, have a seat. So which of my services would you be looking for today? A simple fortune telling, or perhaps a palm reading?" She figured the man would go with the former, but it never hurt to ask, and she wanted to keep the option open. Edited by Akina Anmutig, July 29, 2010, 6:16 pm.

Cygnus followed Night’s line of sight and grinned wryly at her scowl. He knew that despite his immunities to Night’s magical attacks, he still had to be at least somewhat wary of her. There was a reason she was leader of the Rebellion, after all. Even though Cygnus had never seen her dragon form, he knew that it would be difficult to defeat her when she finally brought it out. Which was why he was content to remain in his position as second-in-command, and why he always carried his spear around. He was light hearted, not stupid. Cygnus chuckled at Night’s dry tone before replying, “Amusing myself? There are plenty of things that I could be doing right now if I wanted to amuse myself. I’m just here to inquire about how you’re doing. You do know you look like you want to eat someone, right?” At this point Cygnus gestured at the small circle of space that surrounded Night. Granted, there were some unsavory characters that always showed up at these festivals, but Cygnus didn’t think anyone could quite match Night’s skill in excluding a dark and powerful aura. |

Sierra approached as she was still waiting outside. A wry grin lifted the edges of Regeane's lips at her sister's comment before she shrugged, "She does her job well, I must admit. But," her smile widened wickedly, "she didn't have such an easy time this year. I saw to it." She took in her sister and her smile softened, "You look absolutely gorgeous, Sierra." It was true. The dress accented her sister's light colors and it made her appear an angel. She did not question how Sierra was doing, however, knowing that her sister had been looking paler as of late and now she looked healthy again. To ask how she was feeling, Regeane had learned, was like dangling her sister's tragic problem in front of her face. At Vivian's quiet 'come in' Regeane grinned back to Sierra before pushing open the door. Even though her middle sister couldn't see, Regeane liked to think she could feel a beaming smile when she was confronted with one. And Regeane beamed at the sight of her other sister as well. "My, my. I believe you two should abandon your posts as queens and just prance around making other women jealous!" Walking up, she gently took Vivian's hand and twirled her sister around carefully. "You look wonderful!" she exclaimed, stepping back from her sister. |

Sierra smiled back at Regeane, just as wry as she replied, “Has she ever had an easy time with you?” Sierra had pushed her problem to the back of her mind, but she always got a twist in her gut every time she spoke to someone after an…incident. Her sisters were the only ones who knew about her “needs” and Sierra knew that they would keep her secret sealed tightly, but some unreasonable part of the Triplet Queen was paranoid that somehow someone would figure out her skeleton in the closet. But then Vivian called and Sierra stepped in after Regeane, rolling her eyes at her comment. She grinned at Vivian, an action so impulsive she didn’t stop to wonder why she even bothered. Besides, it was too difficult to remain down when her sisters were here. Hugging Vivian, Sierra said, “You look absolutely stunning.” Then impishly turning to Regeane, Sierra added, “Just as beautiful as Regeane!” |

Night sighed, knowing fully well that she was excluding the darkest aura in the entire festival. Cygnus was always a wary man, always bringing that spear around with him, knowing fully well that I could be a challenge. I eyed him again, almost longing to have such a free spirit as he did. I looked away, frustrated. Must have had a good life. I thought, my face twisting up in disgust. She often wondered if Cygnus had become her second in command just because he didn't want to be eaten when her anger was fully "up", or he actually wanted to be close to her. She looked to him again, his eyes showing curiosity and youth, but a joking glint to them. Most likely the first. She admired his intelligence, and she would find it amusing to fight him one day. Her stomach rumbled. "Actually, now that you talk about it, I am quite hungry.." She looked Cygnus over as if she was thinking about eating him just to amuse herself before continuing. " Hmm.. yes you could amuse yourself with the delightment of little children and people laughing, oh and maybe light some firecrackers while your at it. I'll be sure to hear that." She gave him a glare, her eyes burning before she sighed and doused them again. "Checking up on me, seeing how I'm doing. Very sweet of you Cygnus, but... " She gave him one eyebrow, " I thought you didn't like talking to me. " The fist time she had met Cygnus was quite a while ago, but she remembered his thoughts to her were like everyone else's, fear, but later on as he got to knew her, he respected her more. And she respected him. She considered him as a..friend, maybe, but she would definitely not kill him. And that was a statement for her. |

Vivian Iridia Location: Vivian's quarters "My, my. I believe you two should just abandon your posts as queens and just prance around making other women jealous!" Vivian laughed at Regeane's joke, relieved that it was, in fact, one of her sisters. Then, she suddenly felt herself tugged forward by her hand, twirled around in a circle. An action typical of Regeane. "You look wonderful!" she heard her sister exclaim. This was followed by a hug, which Vivian happily accepted. "You look absolutely stunning." This voice she recognized as Sierra's. "Just as beautiful as Regeane!" The added comment made Vivian laugh once again. "Thank you very much," she replied, smiling enthusiastically. |

Cygnus caught Night’s look, and grinned, briefly wondering if he should make some smart remark like, “Bite me.” But Night plowed on and Cygnus grinned again, ignoring the glare, “That’s a good idea, actually.” Cygnus then considered Night’s words, “Well, that may be true when you’re particularly snappy, but you looked pretty lonely over here.” Cygnus shrugged, “Besides, you’re not the worst conversationalist I’ve met.” Although thinking about it, Cygnus supposed she was the most dangerous. He had definitely thought she was going to eat him when he first met her. His mind had been unguarded, and he was a little rasher in those days than he was now. However, he knew now Night could read his thoughts, so he made an effort to put up a shield whenever he spoke to her. He was unsure of how effective it was, but combined with his magical immunity, he supposed it had some effect. He was also unsure of how much he had revealed when he first met Night, but that was irrelevant. Cygnus had no secrets he wished to hide, but he did have things he’d rather not have proclaimed to the world. |

((Sorry for the delays... I think I'm going to wait for a certain little action before I post Vellar.)) Peron's smile widened just a touch at the girl's surprise and he walked over to the table, sliding into the seat in a seamless motion that he was quite used to making. He spent so often sitting at a table or desk in libraries and inns, coming to a key conclusion, then suddenly slipping back out of his seat and back into it repeatedly while getting other books and such and bringing them back that he had perfected the most efficient, quick and less troublesome means of getting up and sitting down without having to move the chair too much or readjust himself. An odd skill, but one that served him well. He removed the glove from his right hand, the one that wasn't missing a digit, and extended his callused hand between them and met the woman's eyes, "Actually, both would be good if you don't mind. I can pay extra." Her palm-reading would have a little more success than a fortune telling, in that she'd be able to get a reading on some of the things he did, but his future was where she'd start to slip up the most. Although he had a pretty good hunch on what kind future his would be - dying alone when his luck runs out and one of the ruins he explores finally collapses on top of him and traps him under a pile of rubble. |

( sorry for the delay i've been surfing )Her mood was getting better, for she enjoyed company, even if she never showed it. And because of her bad personality and aura, she never really was liked. She was fond of Cygnus, for being brave around her, because it had been a lot of years since she ever felt the company of another. She couldn't blame herself for her twisted personality however, for her past was as painful as not eating right now... Her stomach rumbled. She looked over to kid, but thought otherwise. " Well watching humans has been quite interesting, and I have learned many languages. By the way you don't have to guard your very untrained mind, I'm not that interested in what you are thinking right now anyway. " Night smirked at Cygnus, the closest she ever got to a smile before she felt her aura brightening. " By the way, I'm getting extremely hungry." She scratched her shoulder her scale bothering her again before continuing," When does the "fun" start?" She looked over to him, sort of desperate in her hunger, for part of the attack she needed a snack, or that is what she planned. A boom went of in the distance, probably ten miles away, but Night heard it and she almost growled. She hated festivals, and especially firecrackers. She snorted, irritated. ((I'll have to apologize for the delay, too; I was going to post earlier, but my power went out, and I won't be too surprised if it ends up going out again.)) Urashima Shirako Urashima took note that the man had a way of sliding into the chair opposite her in such a way that it looked like a practiced motion. However, it didn't matter to her. Whatever he did for a profession that required such an odd skill, Urashima would find out one way or the other. "Actually," she heard the man begin, both would be good, if you don't mind. I can pay extra." This surprised the seer quite a bit. She had never been asked of both a fortune telling and a palm reading by the same person, on the same occasion. Perhaps it was because he was bored, and wanted something that would take up a little more time, or maybe he had some extra money to blow on random things. Whatever the case, he didn't appear to be joking, so she took her word for it. "Err, very well, then," she replied. "If that's so, then which would you like first?" |

Regeane gave an exasperated noise at Sierra's compliment and shook her head, "No. I feel my best in a good pair of boots and working clothes with a sword at my side." Not that she wasn't armed, even as dressed up as she was. That was one thing Regeane was always prepared for. Grinning at her sister's she turned toward the window in Vivian's room and hiked up her skirts to shuffle over to it in a childlike manner. Pulling the curtains aside, as she had done only a small while ago, she peered down at the square again. There were more people there now and the vendors seemed to all be in place. She put one finger on the glass of the window and toyed with the thought of leaning through it... Nah...that would ruin all of Gloria's handiwork with the wind and...well, she didn't want to have to deal with the maid's wrath again. Once in a day was enough for even the troublesome triplet. Turning around again, she leaned her back now against the wall and smiled at her sister's, "As much as I hate being one of the reasons for the festival, I do like seeing all the people together. I'd rather be one of those civilians down in the square, however." With a good-natured scowl that quickly dissipated, she moved toward her sisters, "What do you think the entertainment will be this year?" |

It was good to see Vivian smile, and Sierra felt her own spirits lifted. It really was simply too hard to remain sullen around her sisters. Grinning at Regeane’s reaction, Sierra followed her sister’s gaze out the window. Like Regeane, she more than loved her people. It made every life Sierra took even more painful, even if they were criminals. Sierra’s mind shied from the thought. She was determined to enjoy today, “Oh, I have no idea. I’m not sure how they can possibly top last year’s amazing illusions.” Last year had been Sierra’s favorite year since she and her sisters had started officially attending the festivities. The realm’s best illusionists and sorcerers were gathered with the most elaborate and vivid story tellers to weave an extraordinary story not only in words, but in one vast tapestry of illusions around a crowd of thousands. The images had looked perfect, the sounds absolutely real. It had been a most exceptional feat, and it was the buzz of the kingdom for many months afterwards. ----- Cygnus wondered how many of the humans Night watched survived their encounter. Even a black dragon could not eat every single person in the realm, thank goodness. Cygnus stifled a flinch at Night’s words. He wasn’t sure if he was telling him this because she could read his mind, or simply because she felt the barriers that he put up. Either way, Cygnus kept his barriers up. Untrained or not, he did the best he could. He had learned long ago to trust no one but himself. He liked Night, of course, and had a notion that she liked him too. But as all others, they were simply companions and comrades. If Cygnus wanted to survive, he had to lean on himself. Allowing himself to relax, Cygnus smiled and glanced askance at Night, “Soon. If you’re hungry, you should try some of our food. It’s not too bad, and I’m sure it won’t hurt you.” Edited by toxias, August 5, 2010, 11:12 pm.

Vivian Iridia "No," Vivian heard Regeane reply to Sierra's comment. "I feel my best in a good pair of boots and working clothes with a sword at my side." This statement made Vivian chuckle. Regeane was always very unladylike, which presented a decent set of problems for Gloria, but in a way, her prowess with a sword had its good points. After all, she was probably the greatest guard that the triplets could have. However, Vivian's elder sister's focus must have changed. "As much as I hate being one of the reasons for the festival, I do like seeing all the people together. I'd rather be one of those civilians down in the square, however. What do you think the entertainment will be this year?" "Oh, I have no idea," Sierra replied. "I'm not sure how then can possibly top last year's amazing illusions." "Ah, yes," Vivian replied wistfully, as though daydreaming. "The story they told was a beautiful one." Of course, Vivian had no way of seeing the illusions, but the storytellers' words were more than enough for the queen. |

(Peron) His smile grew just a touch at her evident surprise. Ah, she obviously didn't get very many people that were truly interested in the words of a fortune teller. Even if his interest was of a different nature than actually being interested in his future. He had to wonder what she thought his motives were for asking for such a thing. Probably something inane or petty. Still, he brushed it aside and said, "I believe I will hear a fortune telling first." Yes, it would be better to get the hardest part out of the way for the unfortunate woman. Better to save the one where she'll at least have some success for last, so she doesn't feel like her powers have failed her... assuming she was a real fortune teller. He waited patiently while she got what she needed and could get things started. (Vellar) The festival... it was disgusting. The way these people celebrated their vaunted peace, completely ignorant of how it was attained or the ones that were trampled on in the process. Every year, the festival inspired more mocking cheers that made the white dragon Vellar want to use the halberd strapped to his back to cleave through the fools that flocked to this event. That or transform, shedding this tiny and repulsive shell, taking on his true form and showing these peace-loving people the meaning of terror and freeze that terror upon their faces for eternity with his magic breath. But no... not yet. The Rebellion's Second In-Command had a plan. What that plan was, he had only alluded to, but he had a decent head on his shoulders for a human, so Vellar agreed to play along for the time being. He would follow the man's orders, but only so long as their goals still coincided. His position and relationship with the Rebellion was one that always bothered some of its members. Mainly those lower on the ladder that weren't afraid to voice their disdain. Why was some random man allowed to do as he pleased while the rest of them had to take orders? Then again, they didn't know what he was. They were lucky he never mentioned their complaints to their leader or her second. As for the Rebellion's leader, Vellar held no particular like or dislike for her. She was a dragon like him and a potential mate that could suit him. She was powerful and would no doubt prove difficult to please or tame, but it was something he would be capable of. That was if he was at all interested. He regarded her in much the same way as he did others of their kin, but he showed no desire to try and pursue her. And if she wondered about him, she couldn't pierce the shell that protected his mind. Her telepathy worked fine on lesser beings, but his mind was as alien as hers. He would communicate with her telepathically if she wished, but his surface thoughts would be the only ground he would ever allow her on. Moving among the rows of tents, Vellar ignored the looks he recieved from people that saw him. While he perhaps didn't receive as many frightful stares as Night did, his white hair and red eyes still earned him ones of curiosity and confusion. People usually assumed him one afflicted with some kind of skin disease, something he never disputed with them for convenience's sake, so it probably baffled them that he walked unhindered in the sun. He glanced down one intersection and saw Cygnus and her second. He had no desire to speak with them at the moment, so if either of them noticed him, he simply faced forward and moved on. His wandering eventually led him to the grand castle in which the triplet queens lived and reigned over the united regions. He glanced at the main gate and resisted a scowl at the 'security.' In this unending age of peace, the castle's defenders had long lost the true meaning of 'tight security' and become lax and lazy in their measures. If he really wanted to, he could transform right then and there and start tearing the place apart and they could do little to stop him from getting to their precious queens. They'd be dead long before they had the proper forces gathered to deal with a fully-grown dragon such as himself. But again, that wasn't why he was here. He looked up at the castle's jutting towers, sharp eyes peering into uncovered windows and spotting the oldest Triplet Regeane standing in the window and looking out upon her subjects. He caught glimpses of the other queens as well and narrowed his eyes. He always held the Triplet Queens in a very neutral way. They were just as foolish and ignorant of how the peace was earned as the flock they led, but they were competent rulers and ruled with an even hand. The only one that intrigued him was Queen Sierra. His interest in her did not spark until a couple years ago when he disguised himself as a noble attending a capitol-hosted event. The three queens had appeared and given the attendees the honor of greeting them one by one. Vellar had done so with the eldest sister, whose eyes had obviously said she hated being in the dress she wore, as well as Vivian for whom he could feel a touch of pity. But when it was time for him to greet Sierra, he was stunned when a sudden smell hit his fine-tuned nostrils. She reeked of death. Recovering from that brief lapse of composure had proven challenging, but doable and he'd spent much of the remaining event eying the youngest queen. One of the guards at the gate glanced in his direction and Vellar chose that moment to move on. Lax or not, he would prefer not to catch the interest of any of the guards for any extended period of time. |

Night was about to answer Cygnus when the consciousness of Vellar stopped her mouth in mid sentence. She never really payed much mind to him really, nor did he. If you had to say, they would be perfect mates in attitude, feelings, and strength but they both had no interest in each other whatsoever. If Night had to choose, she would rather mate with Cygnus than Vellar. She almost laughed. He was the most violent and evil white dragon she knew, and she enjoyed it. Vellar and I both had white hair, but mine had black streaks in it, and my eyes were blue instead of piercing red. I knew he got confused and scared looks, but I didn't feel sorry for him, for i knew he was used to it and probably didn't care as well. I also never really wanted to pry into his thoughts, for his mind was a land I would not want to venture in, and same for him i would suppose. Even that, was just one reason. We both had strong minds to protect ourselves from the likes of lesser creatures that disgusted me greatly, and I only thought of them as food. She also knew he had an interest in one of the queens, but she didn't mind ether, for she had an interest in Cygnus, so they were even. She always gave him space however, for she knew she enjoyed hers. A kid gave her a scared look as he passed by. SHe smirked at him and he started crying. It took every piece of self control not to eat him or lick her chops. Just saying. Putting her hand on Vellar's shoulder, knowig also fully well, one: they both wanted to kill and destroy this castle and two: they both hated these forms, they had a lot in common, and could talk to each other without hesitation. "Patience, you have less than I. But when Cygnus gives the mark, I'll let you have half of them." She gave Vellar a faint smile, somewhat evil, but she didn't care. |

It had been five weeks since he had found this continent. Today was the day that he made it to the castle, and what luck today they were holding some kind of festival. As he was walking up to the city gates he began to think back to when he first saw this continent Flasback Ritah was holding onto the stern of the ship hoping to see any sign of land. He had left his small island 3 months ago and not once had he seen any sign of land. He had began to grow depressed and his usual cheery spirit was now gone. He missed the voice of another human the last thing he remembered hearing was his father telling him that there was no other land on this planent and that no one had ever came back once they left. He was begining to think his father was right and he would be lost adrift at sea forever. He sighed barely able to remember what his father sounded like. He looked down at the clear blue water seeing fish swimming by his small ship. Really all the ship was was a fishing boat he had modified by adding a larger mast and a room to sleep in. He started thinking about killing himself so he would not be lost at sea forever when he heard something. Was that a bird? He looked up searching for any sign of a bird, and there it was a small bird in the distance. If there was a bird would that mean land was near his hopes started to rise and within a half hour he was in view of a coast line. Finally he shouted its land i cant believe ive made it. I have came far since then he thought. He had proved them all on the Island wrong they told him there was no land. He began to wonder if all the others who had left had reached this place, or had they all drifted endlessly through the ocean never seeing land again. As he got closer to the city the noise began to roar in his ears. He had never seen so many people in his life. The noise they were producing was like that of the crashing waves on the cliffs back home. He began to wonder how so many people were not able to find his island in the ocean. Surely they had sent boats out before searching for more places to live. All these thoughts began to jumble around in his head as he walked through the gates and into the sea of people.
