Beautiful Mistake
|
![]() Leena stared at the boy before her, he called himself Matthew. He must be a freshman for she did not recognize him and he had mentioned the school. All she knew of his powers is that he could be invisible. It was a useful power, but if that was all he could do he'd be no match for her if they got into a fight. Water may seem like a weak element to be able to control, but if used right it could be a deadly tool. "Well… I guess I must have heard it all since I got here around the same time as your friend over there," the boy stated. Leena tried to remain calm even though the thought of a stranger knowing her secret terrified her. "Although I don't see why this is so important to you, we all came to this school carrying secrets, but if this is something that bothers you I promise I won't tell the other students." "You can't tell anyone," Leena stated with certainty, "Not a soul other than the two of you can know this about me." She looked back at Kael and tried to smile, but she couldn't even fake one. "I trusted Kael with this information because I knew him. But I don't know you; I can't trust you to keep my secret safe. I do not know who may use my weakness against me. But there is no way I'm letting someone take my skin because some sneak overheard a conversation. There is no way I'm going to be caught land bound because of a stranger." Leena had begun to get angry now. At herself for letting this happen, at Matthew for overhearing her, at the world for making her who she was. The air around her began to fizzle and pop as the water vapor turned into visible steam. She was in such a state of emotion that she could not even keep her powers under control. |

![]() "That he's a vampire?" Daen questioned to confirm what the red-head was talking about. "Yeah, I caught on. Changelings are pretty good at telling when other people are lying. Mainly because we do quite a bit of lying, ourselves. He was about as truthful as a politician." He grinned, then continued, "And if he actually is a vampire, I really don't think we should mention it to anyone. That's the kind of thing that could probably get him fired, and I don't know about you, but I'd rather keep him around. Vampires might be dangerous, but they're clever. We could learn a thing or two from him." Besides the obvious stuff about science that he taught. |

Matthew Hunter Matthew couldn’t help but put a little smirk on his face. It seemed that she was evaluating him now, thinking she could easy control him if he were to try anything. “Good’ he thought. ‘That will only make her lower her guard against me.” It would be all too easy to use his other ability to make her think twice about stopping him. For now though it would be smarter to befriend her. "You can't tell anyone, not a soul other than the two of you can know this about me." She looked back at the boy behind her. "I trusted Kael with this information because I knew him. But I don't know you; I can't trust you to keep my secret safe. I do not know who may use my weakness against me. But there is no way I'm letting someone take my skin because some sneak overheard a conversation. There is no way I'm going to be caught land bound because of a stranger." He watched as the air around her began to turn into steam and rise into the air. He was now having a hard time controlling himself to not laugh at her childish emotions. This would defiantly be an interesting year for him. Matthew steady said with a controlled voice “Then let us hope that over time you will begin to know me and that I can earn your trust with something as delicate as this. For now though I still don’t think that I got an introduction from either of you. Don’t you think it would be odd for you to know who I am, but not I to know who you are?” |

~Sabet~ <203> Sabet nodded in response to Daen. He...or should he say she right now? Well Daen was on the same page as Sabet, so he had no problems. "I agree. Even if he did not benefit me, i would find it rude to spread his secret around. I myself don't want anyone to know about my origins until I've come to trust them." He said matter of factly, still grinning like his roommate. He stood up and stretched for a second before plopping back down. "By the way, about your...services, think i could get a roommates discount sometime? It's been awhile." He said, blushing at first, then laughing at the last thing he said. |

![]() "Roommate discount?" Daen asked with a laugh. "I'll think about it." He winked at Sabet, shifting slightly to assume a more suggestive and generally amusing position. "And how long has it been for you, anyway? Forever?" He laughed again, thinking that he had probably guessed correctly with his little teasing remark. He smiled coyly at the red-head before rolling back onto his back, looking up at the ceiling. A sigh, then, "I've heard a lot about vampires, you know. Raphael must be completely amazing to be able to keep it a secret from the students for so long. I can't imagine how he's been pulling it off..." He shook his head. "The guy must have quite an incredible amount of willpower..." |

~Sabet~ <203> "Heh, guess again. About 4 months ago. That girlfriend happened to be a bit loose, and thanks hehe. Is sitting like that how you advertise?" He asked, laughing. Daen really did look attractive at the moment. For some reason it didn't bother Saber that he was really a dude. He noted that Daen merely called the Doctor "Raphael". "I don't know how bad the thirst's pull is, but i guess the man must have a lot to distract him in this place. Also, forced to wear makeup like that kinda sucks, he looks so freaky to everyone...Hey, if you knew he was a vamp, why'd you suggest i go there on certain nights?" |

![]() "Well, actually..." Daen stated with a glance over at Sabet. "I did that because I was trying to be funny. I don't actually want him to eat you." He laughed. "And I wonder where he gets his blood from while he's here. It's gotta suck being around a bunch of people all the time, being what he is..." He actually felt a little sorry for the guy now. But about the make-up... "Some part of me wants to think that he really doesn't mind wearing the make-up." |

Sabet Laughed at the last comment his sexy roommate made. "He certainly does seem the type, with the way he carries himself and all. I bet there's some kind of vampire guild or something that handles blood deliveries, or perhaps he just mooches off of other staff members. As for him eating me...I doubt he could. I may look like some weak little red head bitch, but I can defend myself pretty well, usually without needing to resort to my...abilities. How about you? Can you fight?" Sabet said, thinking about what it would mean either way Daen answered. He wasn't as confident in himself to fight a vampire as he let on, he'd barely survive, if at all, if he did fight his teacher. |

Kael Kael didn't take his eyes off the new guy until Leena said that she'd trusted him because she knew him, at which point she met her gaze and nodded. He could see the attempt to smile and could understand why she couldn't do it. Turning back to the newcomer, he regarded his words carefully. Especially with Leena's control over her power starting to degrade. This could get messy... The smirk wasn't helping Matthew's case. Kael's frown didn't leave his face as he spoke and asked for names. He supposed that he made a point... so he straightened up a bit and said, "Kael." Although he didn't see why he needed to say it anyway, Leena had just said his name a minute ago. Zack The Physician gave the worried girl a reassuring smile and said, "Only for a few minutes once I find where the fracture is and fix it up." He moved her under a machine that came down from the roof and stopped the bed, nudging the brakes back on. He grabbed a handle and shifted the machine so that a lens hovered over her neck, put a smock-like covering over most of her body and said, "Just relax. This will only take a second." He stepped back and pulled a thicker curtain then the rest around where she was, moving over to a console close by and pushed a few buttons. Once he'd gotten a few snapshots, he moved back in, adjusted the machine and took side-shots of her neck. When he was done, he let her take the smock off and went into a side-room. A few minutes later, he came back and said, "Alright now. We just need to wait a little while for those to develop then I can fix your neck. How are you feeling now?" He did need to gauge if she was still feeling any other pain. |

![]() "How are you feeling now?" Kara too a moment to evaluate this. She could tell she'd stopped bleeding, but she was still in pain. "It hurts a lot to move my neck." She murmered. Naturally, she knew not to try moving her neck, as that could aggrevate the problem. Suddenly, she was struck by another problem: she'd dropped her fan back in the courtyard! "Also," she added, a tone of worry in her voice, "I dropped something important back in the courtyard...it's a red fan with a floral design." Hopefully, whoever found it would take it to the lost and found...or perhaps the girl who helped her picked it up. Either way, she couldn't exactly look for herself. ![]() Marash yawned mightily as she pawed the book closed. Most of the people she knew would've been bored out of their minds after reading so much of a topic as historical as Dwarven architecture, but she wasn't yawning out of boredom, but because it was getting rather late. Levitating the book back to its lofty perch, she made her way from the library to her dorm. Turning the doorknob with the same apportation spell she used for most similar trivialities, she entered, lazily kicking the door closed as she flopped down on her bed, which was more of a large cushion than anything else. Her mind was still swimming with the events of the day, and the possibilities of the next. She would spend an hour or so pondering these before actually succumbing to sleep. |

Nika Ookamidai Location: School infirmary "I dropped something important in the courtyard... it's a red fan with a floral design." Having zoned out for a moment, Nika's thoughts snapped back to the present when she heard the girl say that. She took a glance down at the fan in her hand, which matched her description. "Wait, are you talking about this?" she asked, looking up at the girl. Standing up, she made her way towards the two, holding the fan out. Naturally, she moved close enough so the poor girl wouldn't have to move her neck to look at it. She had forgotten entirely about the fact that she had picked it up when going in to help her to the infirmary, but having heard that it was important to her, she was glad that she did. |

![]() Daen shrugged and said, "I can handle a knife pretty well." He'd gotten into a few fights in the past, and he'd lived through them because he knows how to use a knife and use is well. But he doubted he could stand up to a teacher. Much less a vampire. The thought honestly terrified him. "I do wonder where he gets his blood from," he mused, staring back up at the ceiling. "Obviously not from the students, and I can't see him being allowed to drink from the teachers..." He smirked and remarked, "I can see someone like him mooching off a blood bank." That actually seemed to make a lot of sense, but he knew that something like that was highly illegal. Oh well. Maybe Dr. Volerus wasn't getting his blood that way. |

![]() Ama "Muse" Rosen Location: Music Room/Room 106 Ama's fingers were starting to hurt so she decided it was best to lay off of the composition for a while. She leaned away from the piano and massaged her writing hand with a sigh. She'd finished up two or so pages worth of music and that was good for now, right? Ama smiled to herself as she sorted the sheet music into a neat pile and slipped it into her tote bag. After she had all her things together, Ama stood away from the piano and left the music room, heading back to the room she'd been assigned. "Hm, I wonder if my room mate is there yet," she pondered to herself as she walked down the halls and finally came across room 106. She unlocked the door and stepped inside, noting that no one else was there and put her things beside her bed. After a moment for stretching, Ama got ready for bed and laid down, staring at the ceiling. |

Zack He nodded at the young girl's answer and was glad when she didn't actually try to move. He knew too many patients that had injured themselves further by being dumb enough to actually try and do it. When she started talking about something important to her, it wasn't hard for him to think of the fan she used to cover her face so protectively like when they first bumped into each other. He nodded and was about to look to Nika when the wolf-girl approached with the very item in question in hand. He smiled and nodded before it even was in Kara's view, "Yes, I believe that's the one. Good job thinking to grab it." He said as he looked to the injured crow-girl and said, "For now though, keep holding onto it. You can have it back once I fix up your neck." He glanced towards the door he had come out of a minute ago. "Speaking of..." Stepping back into the small room, he found the pictures were ready to go and inspected them for the fracture. Once he found it, he came back out and moved to the girl's side, placing his hands on her cheeks. It wasn't entirely necessary, but it would make using his power a little easier. "Alright, now relax. This will feel a little weird, but it shouldn't hurt a bit." He closed his eyes as he began to draw on his power. The darkness behind his closed eyes soon was filled with the intricate and interlocking structure of her body's cellular makeup. Moving at the speed of light, he blurred past her skin, the underlying muscles and into her bones. He traveled down into her neck and traced along the surface until he found the injury he was looking for and felt it out. Kara was fortunate... it was so close to being a full break, he marveled at her luck. He also took note of her hollow, honey-combed bones. Focusing now, he worked on repairing the damage, making sure to match up its structure so as not to cause the girl any further complications. All in all, it took him about five minutes to fix it up. When he was done, he opened his eyes and removed his hands with a smile, "There we go. All better." He undid her neck brace and helped the girl sit up, "Try moving your neck now." ![]() Kara smiled, though she couldn't actually see the fan, as she shouldn't move her neck, and like her mother, her powerful eyes were too large to move around freely in their sockets. Her smile became uneasy as the physician placed his hands on her face. It was probably neccessary to use his powers, but it was still ackward. "Try moving your neck now." Shivering at the strange sensation, then smiling at the relief, Kara twisted her neck from side to side. It was still very sore, but the sharp, searing pain was gone. The risk of self-injury presumably gone, Kara sat herself up. "Thank you very much. I..." She paused, thinking how to best describe her accident. "...fell out of a tree, and my bones aren't very strong." While her collision with the tree hurt her much more than the actual fall, she felt this explanation was more plausible. |

![]() "Something as delicate as this?" Leena said, the rage showing in her eyes, "This is my life! Being stuck in this human form for eternity would be a prison. A prison of the most torturous kind. I don't think you understand how much this means to me..." She turned away from Matthew and toward Kael. The air around her was still slowly turning into steam. This boy thought he was so smart, that childish smirk upon her face. Well, he couldn't be that smart for he was only a first year at Hidden Hills, therefore upon the scale of things, he should not have much control of his powers. It was merely the first day too. He had probably come into little contact with others from Hidden Hills and therefore he thought of himself as amazing. Leena had seen others like him, but the Headmaster quickly broke them in. She didn't trust him, she couldn't trust him... but she had no other choice. "I'm Leena," she said, her back still turned to him. She was looking over at Kael, her eyes unsure and confused. Maybe he would have a solution. Then again, he had only just discovered her secret as well. ![]() Aki skipped around the building for a little bit longer. Letting all of her energy out. She had been so excited to attend this school and now she was finally here. Already her first day had been very eventful. She had met her roommate, she had discovered another vampire, and she had seen the whole school. Tomorrow was the first day of classes. She wondered what it could possible bring her that would be more exciting than today. Aki made her way back to her room, nearly all worn out from her eventful day. It was time for her to sleep. She was so tired, that as she put on her pajamas, she could barely keep her eyes open. Aki yawned and lay herself down in beg, closing her big red eyes and falling asleep. |

Nika Ookamidai Location: Infirmary "Yes, I believe that's the one," Nika heard the doctor respond. "Good job thinking to grab it. For now, though, keep holding on to it." His focus returned to the injured girl. "You can have it back once I fix up your neck. Speaking of..." He seemed to trail off, probably too enveloped in his thoughts to finish, and stepped into a smaller room off to the side. "Right," Nika replied, despite knowing full well the doctor couldn't hear her at this point. She returned to her seat nearby the door, glancing down at the fan in her hand before her focus went elsewhere. A few moments later, she saw the doctor return and place his hands on the girl's face. She had never actually had the doctor's ability used on her, but from the look on the girl's face, she could tell it must have felt weird. "There we go. All better. Try moving your neck now." The "procedure" lasted but a quick moment. Nika was relieved that nothing had come of this. "Thank you. I... fell out of a tree, and my bones aren't very strong," the girl attempted to explain. This wasn't the full story, but obviously, hearing that she, in her attempt to jump towards the tree, was caught by a breeze and sent careening down into a branch would be just too absurd to believe. So, Nika didn't say anything about it. |
