![]() "Nearly done," Raphael stated, his crimson eyes now fixed rather longingly on his mini-fridge. He definitely wanted what was inside it, but he had enough restraint to stay sitting. "I have been working on it for the past month. It was a little more complex than I had expected it to be. Not the most elegant of experiments..." It was something he didn't like about the study, but if the results turned out to be good, then he wasn't going to complain about that. He looked up at the physician and inquired, "And how have your experiments been progressing?" He was always interested in what Dr. Garrison did in his free time. The ethical part of Raphael's mind was always appalled at what the physician did, but his curiosity tended to get the better of him. He always had to ask. |

![]() Ama "Muse" Rosen Location: Library Ama was worried about exposing her power to him accidentally but he seemed calm enough so her voice didn't automatically go to ease the boy, unlike what had happened with the girl from before, Kana was it? She frowned as she remembered how she'd manipulated the girl's feelings so that she was calm. Ama couldn't help it but still, it bothered her. "Oh, jeez. Go figure," she said with a laugh as she followed him to the back where the music sheets were. Had she been blind? There were rows and rows of books just filled to the brim with compositions. Ama was really letting this whole experience distract her from the obvious things. "Thanks for helping." Ama was beaming as she reached for a Bach composition book. She flipped it open and was instantly immersed in the beauty of the notes on paper. It was hard to grab her attention once she had her eyes on sheet music but she had to stay polite. "Aha, I'm new but I'm starting as a junior. I feel like the odd one out," Ama mubbled with a grimace as she put the book onto her other arm as she continued browsing through the books. Ama pulled out a Mozart and was almost going bonkers when she saw a Yiruma one! She felt like a giddy fangirl as she put that one on her arm as well. Ah! Polite, be social, you know the drill, she reminded herself as she finally tore herself from the shelve and smiled at the boy. Usually, she was pretty quiet and monotone if not alone with an instrument but, well, she was pretty glad to have found what she needed. "And you? I've figured you're not new but what grade?" |

~Cafeteria~ Sabet shook his head at Daens comment about it being too interesting for school. "In a place like this, I'd believe anything. To tell the truth I'd say his actions at the mention of it make me think it is more likely that he is a vampire, although he could just be sensitive to the comment, i suppose he's probably heard it before with his appearance and personality." Sabet said in a voice that he used when he was trying to argue a point with logic. He realized that he was still going on about it and shut his mouth. As he didn't want to get off on a bad foot with this snow-headed guy, he quickly tried to pull attention away from his rambling about Dr. Volerus. "Yes, well, my room...um...Oh! 203 is my room number, though i have yet to meet my room mate. Do you know where that is?" |

![]() Daen raised an eyebrow when Sabet stated which room he was in. Well, that was interesting. So they were to be roommates, hm? That was very interesting. Then he might as well make a point of befriending the red-headed freshman. Otherwise they might have a difficult year. And part of that befriending would probably involve Daen telling Sabet what he was. When they got back to their room, perhaps. "I know exactly where that is," he said with a bit of a grin, leaning back in his chair casually. "Since it's my room. It looks like we're roommates. Fancy that." |

Ryan Tills "No problem, glad to be of help" Ryan had to stifle some chuckling has he watched her light up at the sight of all the music. Maybe it had something to do with her gift. Ryan never asked about people's gift if they wanted to tell him they would, unless they were his roommate, he'd ask them if they were his roommate. He would always answer if asked though. As he heard her response about her grade level despite being new here he could understand the dislike tied to the fact "Junior? okay well you'll get used to the layout of the place pretty easily. as for being an odd one out..we're all kinda like that right? it's why we're here at the school isn't it?" though it was true the school brought everyone together as a community, but each person was still their individual self."I'm a junior too, as you could probably tell though, I've been here since freshman year" Ryan leaned against the bookshelf not sure how much longer Ama could keep the conversation going. The amount of sheet music seemed to be overwhelming her, in a good way. It was kind of like him when he got too into a drawing of his, zoning out everything else around him. As Ryo started to slowly regain himself, his eyes slowly changed back to blue and palms also started to calm down, the sparks disappeared. Ryoku stood there like nothing happened, looking around. He glances quickly over at Hana, and then to the sky. "Sorry" Ryo said to Hana in a calm but, chilling voice as he looked at the sky. "I keep getting flashbacks from my childhood. I don't know what triggers them, but I've been having them recently for the past week. Also, if you don't already know, I'm able to create electric charges from my hands and exert it out as lightning." He would demonstrate, but he doesn't wanna risk injuring anyone nearby. And besides, he's a senior, he should be at least known by people throughout the school. Seconds turned into minutes as there was a bit of dead silence between Ryoku and Hana. So he proceeded to break the silence by asking a question. "Hey, what grade are you and why did you choose to come to Hidden Hills?. Thinking about the second part of his question, he already knew the answer. To get better at mastering my powers as anyone would say, but he kept quiet and awaited an answer. |

![]() Ama "Muse" Rosen Location: Library Ama nodded as a way of acknowledging Ryan's words before turning back to the books. Maybe one more would suffice. Oh, who was she kidding. She was going to have to come back later for more because she surely couldn't haul all the ones she wanted to. Oh, and tomorrow she could grab up some blank sheet music from the music teacher and start doing her rough drafts. That would be a good idea... She laughed lightly. "Ah, yeah that's true. You're the second person to tell me that. I'm kind of thickheaded," Ama confessed. Well, really she was just too busy with the music that was constantly going on in her head. It was like a concert in there. Violins, harps, a bass, some winds, and mainly: a piano. Constantly, constantly the sounds of instruments invaded her head and made it hard to concentrate on conversations. It was one reason for her usually shying away from talks or social gatherings. She was much more comfortable laying in bed and just losing herself to the songs. "A junior you say... So how is it here? I get the feeling a lot of stuff goes down. I mean, how can there not be when there are so many people in here with different powers and such," she said as she shifted the weight of the composition books from one arm to another. The music room was calling to her. |

Hana listened silently to Ryo's explanation. "Hm..." She murmured, not really knowing what to say about his flasbacks. She hid a wince at the word lightning. She knew who he was, sort of, she remembered seeing him in the hallways before and the lights flickering sometimes when he was near them. She always found it sort of funny when the new students would get confused or freak out. Hana snapped out of her thoughts in time to hear Ryo's question. "Im a senior...." She said, pausing to think about the second part of the question, she somtimes wondered why she came herself. "Well... i guess... to get better with my powers and... escape my parents sort of.... " "Not that they would notice anyway..." She added quietly . "What about you?...." |

Sahiba Location: Courtyard, in a tree "Hello," Nika had replied, seemingly surprised that Sahiba had spoken up. Perhaps she should have left the girl alone? Sahiba hid a frown, too late now. A moment of silence passed between the girls, the next comment surprised Sahiba as she glanced over at Nika. "You shouldn't beat yourself up too much over this. It wasn't as though any harm came of it." She had a point there, nothing more than a freak out resulted. However, she still felt bad for causing the the uncomfortable scene to happen. She nodded, though. "Perhaps... I just don't like that I made her uncomfortable. I guess I'm just used to coming and going... I didn't even think beforehand.." she murmured. "I'll just be more careful, is all." she added, with a bit of a shrug. "Thanks, though." Sahiba went quiet, then, taking a drink of her soda. She leaned back against the base of the tree, relaxing a little now. "Excited to be back?" she asked Nika, needing a change of topic. She remembered seeing the girl around the school before but never really talked with her. |

Ryan Tills Ryan watched as she loaded herself down with books wonderng who else she could have run into who would have told her that. Shrugging his shoulders he shifted his weight against the bookshelf. "It's pretty relaxed overall here every once in a while a freshman losses control and makes a mess but nothing major beyond that"Ryan thought back to when he animated a bull and lost control of it as it careened down the hallways a trail of destruction leading to where it dissappeared as it's energy ran out. Snapping himself back to the library Ryan continued "Stuff does go down everynow and then but not in the usual highschool sense... as you could probably guess with all the powers floating about the halls." Ryan laughed a bit as he thought more into it "...and the usual stuff is also escalated because of the powers...a war between two clubs can get pretty dangerous depending on what powers are on each side" Watching her shift the books in her arms around he thought for a second "I'm not keeping you am I?...you clearly love music so I don't want to stop you...I'm also going to assume you know where the music room is from here?" ryan said smiling and shifting his body so she could get by him if she wanted. |

Zack Zack nodded and gave a thoughtful hum, "Complexity isn't always a good thing. Perhaps there is a way to make it more efficient and simplified, but still get the same results?" He was just throwing out a random though, as he usually did when discussing the sciences and experiments. He shrugged and pushed his glasses back up his nose. At the question, he visibly froze, though only for a split second. Had anyone else asked that question, it would have gotten a fairly normal answer about his experiments with plants and some living tissue. But Raphael... he was one of the few people he could confide some of his less... savory experiments. He decided to start safe first and go from there. "Well, for my usual experiments, nothing too spectacular. Just modifying the structures of different cells, tissues and such to see what happens." He shrugged. "The results have been what I expected for the most part - watching the cells and tissues fall apart. Although in a few cases, could survive without certain parts of themselves, though their ability to perform certain tasks was diminished." He paused and considered what to talk about next. He had several darker experiments running consecutively, but... ah! He cleared his throat and said, "As for one of my more secretive experiments, I've been seeing what happens when you combine an animal with a plant. You might scoff at the source of my inspiration for this experiment, but it has certainly proven very intriguing." |

![]() Raphael hadn't a clue what the man's inspiration for such an experiment might be, but the thought of combining plants and animals certainly intrigued him. There were certain organisms which rode the boundaries, but there was no true hybrid of plant and animal. It would be fascinating if the physician could create one. Then Raphael's ethics caught up with him and he frowned slightly. "It is a fascinating subject," he stated evenly, "though I am sure you know what most scientists out there would say if they knew what you were up to." Most people in general, really. Particularly religious ones. Sure scientists did many things that could count as playing God, but this was a very clear case of it. His curious vampire side obviously had control once again as he smiled at the physician. "What, may I ask, was your inspiration for such experimentation?" He was thinking it might be a science fiction novel or movie. He had no idea that the doctor got the idea from something far more... juvenile. |

![]() Location: Room 103 After climbing the stairs and navagating her way to her dorm, Kara collapsed on her bed, dropping her fan by her side. She was feeling pretty low at the moment. Sure, that physician had been somewhat rude, almost flirtatious, but he probably had a good excuse. For once, she wasn't the only non-human at her school, and the staff probably had odd traits too, even if they weren't visible. Perhaps she'd apologize to him next the time she saw him. Either way, what she needed now was to let off some stress. The library didn't seem like a viable option anymore, and her dorm was a bit small. As far as she knew, though, it wasn't too late to go for a walk outside. Checking to make sure the door was locked, Kara began to change into a slightly lighter outfit. She didn't have a very big wardrobe: shirts with wing holes were hard to find! ![]() Ama "Muse" Rosen Location: Library Ama's arm was starting to ache so she shifted the books yet again. Her head was roaring with music for some reason she couldn't exactly wrap her head around. It was as if the concert had started without her and was going at full blast. Ama assumed it was because she was in a good mood and that was usually when the instruments came out to play. She nodded as Ryan spoke. "Good to know it doesn't get too crazy," she mumbled as her eyebrows shot up for a moment. It was nice for her to know what she was dealing with. No acid to the eye, no crazy exes chasing after her for breaking a relationship up. Well, at least not in a normal way. Now she'd have to be weary of people using magic when pissed off. Her ears perked up at the word 'music' and she grimaced as she noticed she'd lost herself to her thoughts again. "Sorry, is it showing that much? Thanks so much for your help and I do know where it is," Ama ranted, slightly embarassed at how odd she was seeming. She started to move past him before turning back with a smile. "See you around, then." Ama gave a bow with her head before leaving. |

Matthew Hunter Matthew was a bit surprised when the boy in front of him seemed to fly up into the air, but he was completely unprepared for blast of water that hit him square in the chest. He was knocked down and got covered with mud on the back of his pants. As his invisibility fell away around him two things were going on inside his head. Kill the people here and escape or try to befriend theses strangers and make them trust you. He quickly threw away the idea of murder in his mind because he wasn’t quite sure on what he was dealing with. If these were normal humans then it would be an easy decision on killing them but here with these people, it might not go his way. Matthew slowly got up off the ground and put a broad smile on his face. Hopefully they would think twice of attacking now. “Ha ha… I guess this means that I will need to do laundry sooner then I expect.” Matthew said in a good natured tone. “I hope this isn’t how most greetings happen at this school.” He said looking Leena straight in the eye. Matthew started to see Kael land in the water. He gave a little wave to him and said. “By the way my name is Matthew, how are you doing?” |

Zack Zack glanced at the curtained window and gave what would be an uncharacteristic dismissive wave in any other circumstance. "Oh, I am aware. That's why I don't go around parading my business to everyone." He met Raphael's gaze again and continued, "I've taken appropriate measures to make sure none of the students or other faculty will come across my experiments and anything I dispose of is properly unrecognizable and can't be traced back to me. Although I imagine the trash collectors have to wonder at some of the things they end up taking away." At the other question, Dr. Garrison grinned nearly ear-to-ear and said, "I imagine I'm going to find great amusement from your reaction, but sure, I'll tell you." He sat up and clasped his hands together in his lap. "It came to me from a student last year who was recovering from an injury in the infirmary. He had one of those hand-held gaming devices that the students are so fond of and was playing a game. I was at a point of inactivity and curiosity drove me to ask what he was playing." His grin grew larger, "So he showed me and said it was a game called Pokemon. I believe you've heard of it? It was all the rage a few years ago and still has a sizable fan-base it seems. Anyway, this student began to brag about his winning team of creatures. None of them really meant anything to me, but then he described the one on the screen... and thus my inspiration was revealed in the form of a plant-animal hybrid called Bulbasaur." Zack prepared himself for the vampire's no doubt comical reaction. |

![]() Well, some might find Raphael's reaction to be comical. If they happened to think it funny that someone didn't have the slightest idea what "Pokemon" was. The vampire was looking at the physician blankly, not a trace of comprehension on his painted face. There was quite a bit of confusion there, though. "I... am afraid I am unfamiliar with that," he stated, seeming bothered by his own lack of knowledge about something that had clearly gotten the physician's interest. If only enough to fuel one of his unethical experiments. Though he supposed he may have heard the name "Pokemon" thrown around by some of the students before. He had just never taken special note of it before. Or any real note, for that matter. His eyes were still that crimson shade, and he gave his mini-fridge another look of longing. At the moment, he really didn't care that the bagged blood tasted like plastic. It was still blood, and it was still enjoyable to drink it. Though on the scale of what tasted good to him, fresh blood taken right from a living human body ranked highest. It was on the level of the best food in the world. This bagged blood was akin to protein shakes. Non-human blood? Potato chips. Junk food. Enjoyable, but not nutritional. Animal blood? Oh, he wasn't even going to go there... |

I didn't even think beforehand. I'll just be more careful is all. Thanks, though." "Glad I could help," Nika replied after finishing her coffee. She wasn't a fan of having to start the year on such a bad note, so it made her happy that she had at least made an effort to help lighten the mood. For a moment, Nika stared into her empty cup, disappointed that there wasn't any more coffee in it. The thought crossed her mind to go get some more, but it would be rude to just leave Sahiba like that. "Excited to be back? The question broke Nika from her thoughts. Sahiba must have been wanting a change of subject. "Absolutely," she replied. She wasn't lying -- she had missed her friends here, and in secret, she had been wanting to get away from her parents' incessant pampering. It was cute, at first, but as old as she was now, it was beginning to get annoying. "What about you?" Nika asked. "How does it feel to be a senior?" |

Sahiba Location: Courtyard, in a tree Sahiba smiled at Nika's response at being back at the school. The girl seemed sincere in her claim, as well, and Sahiba wasn't real surprised by it. A lot of the students seemed to enjoy being here at the school, for a variety of reasons. The fact that Nika was one wasn't a shock, instead it was more like a comfort. "What about you?" she heard Nika ask, returning the question. "How does it feel to be a senior?" Another smile formed on the girl's mouth and she took a drink of her soda before answering. "It's both exciting and saddening. I'm glad to have gotten much better with my abilities but it'll be sad to leave all this behind." she admitted, looking around at the school grounds and the building they could see. A light sigh escaped her and she went on with her answer. "It's come to be like a second home, another family. I'm going to miss everything and everyone when the year is up." She took another drink, finishing off her soda, frowning into her now empty cup. With a shrug, she shook an ice cube into her mouth and sucked on it. |

![]() Daen nodded before getting up, motioning to Jaya that she could finish up the rest of his food. She'd obviously intended to do that anyway, and since he was done he wasn't going to try to stop her. Once that was taken care of, he motioned for Sabet to follow him back to his--their--room. It would take a little while for him to get used to having a roommate. It had the potential to become a very awkward situation, especially after telling Sabet what he was. Hopefully the guy wasn't the type to get all weird because his roommate could switch genders on a whim. Such is the life of a changeling... |

Zack The blank stare was exactly as Zack had anticipated and solicited a subdued chuckle from him. He figured it would be in bad form to laugh too much, but it was a tempting thing to let loose the mirth that Raphael's ignorance brought. Though the grin on his face did get a little wider. At the vampire's longing glance to the fridge, the physician cleared his throat and decided to go on with what he was saying before. "At any rate, the experiment is... going about how I expected it to first start out. The first few tries were complete failures... it's very tricky, combining plant and animal without causing grievous harm to one or both. I had to find a way to link their two very different methods of finding nourishment into a system that could work." He sighed and shrugged, "So far, only one of my experiments has survived. Unfortunately, it's a purely aesthetic accomplishment. The plant on the animal is little more than a decoration. I'm hoping to create a plant/animal being that can survive on sunlight and water and nothing else. If that turns out to be impossible, than I at least hope that it will require only minimal feeding by the end." |

![]() "Perhaps you can induce a kind of symbiosis?" Raphael suggested, though he doubted the physician would be satisfied with such a result. "Corals, for instance, cannot survive for long without the zooxanthellae living in their polyps... Perhaps such a symbiosis can be forced upon an animal and a plant rather than algae like zooxanthellae..." He mused over that for a few moments before shaking his head, a bit bothered by his willingness to weigh in his opinion on how the physician can succeed in his little experiments. So unethical, and it was very important for respectable scientists like himself to keep such things in mind. After a few moments of his musings, he asked, "Will you be needing to take advantage of my rapid healing today, or is this talk enough to calm you?" He wanted to know what he should be expecting for what remained of the day. |

"It's come to be like a second home, another family," she heard Sahiba continue, as though adding to Nika's own thoughts. "I'm going to miss everything and everyone when the year is up." "Yeah," Nika replied. "It's a good thing that the year has only just begun, then." She chuckled at her attempt to lighten the mood a little. |

Sabet followed Daen to their room. It took them alot less time to get back than it had for him to get to the cafeteria. Daen was going to open the door, but Sabet practically dived for the doorknob and opened it for him, gesturing for him to go first. He laughed as Daen went in. Sabet walked over to his bed and plopped, his hair spraying all over the place like blood flying through the air. He subconsciously began to clean his glasses on his shirt. When he replaced them he sighed and looked at his half unpacked suitcases. "Tell me your rules and if there are any places you do not want my things to go" |
