~Cafeteria~ Sabet stopped eating and looked at professor Raphael. "Hello again, professor. My father spoke so highly of you that i wanted to merely talk to you, that is all. Also, would you recommend any classes or teachers? I'm new here and could use a bit of help" He said with a smile and a calm voice. He was curious about the others at the table and would like to talk to them as well. |

Steven "Spike" Smith ".....Sure." Spike replied coolly--He wanted a seat here, and this strange fellow didn't mind if he wanted to sit here. Though Spike wanted a seat in the back area because of the possibility of it being empty.....Fat chance of that now. Turning his head around, there seemed to more coming down at the cafeteria, and thus, less of a chance to actually sit down and just try to be alone for quite some time. As much as he hated it, it would be....rude to not take up on his offer. Nodding, the sophomore would take him up on his offer to just sit down at the table. Though he wouldn't exactly socialize with the fellow. placing his roller right on the floor, he merely sat down, crossed his arms, and remained silent. ((Sorry for ow long it took for my reply, Badwolf.)) Edited by Falconking042, July 18, 2010, 11:10 pm.

![]() "Your father is a very talented researcher," Raphael complimented. He wouldn't say such high praise if it wasn't true. "His experiments are elegant, to say the very least." He had a good deal of respect for the boy's father as a scientist. As for advice... "Which teachers and classes I may have to recommend depends greatly on your interests. What do you intend to do with your life?" General interests would do, really, but Raphael was certainly tempted to suggest his own classes for this boy. If only to see if he had his father's scientific mind. Though those glasses were really getting to him. He had discreetly shifted his chair a little further away from the boy. |

~cafeteria~ Sabet had to think about it for a moment. He wasn't quite sure what he wanted to do, but he knew his own intrests. "I want to be a scientist, but one more geared towards weather and environmental aspecs. If possible i'd also like to become a master of the blade and other martial arts." He said simply, deciding that would be fine. |

![]() "Those are not quite my areas of expertise," Raphael stated, "though I would recommend basic biology and chemistry for background information on pressure changes and the like. Moreso chemistry than biology. It sounds like you are more interested in meteorology than anything else, yes?" Definitely not his area of expertise, for sure. He would study up on that if needed, though. He would not mind doing an independent study class for the boy if he was truly interested in the subject. He had one burning question in his mind, though. Considering what this was a school for, he was curious as to the boy's special talents. They weren't obvious like some of the others at this school. "I am curious... Which powers do you call your own?" he inquired. He certainly wasn't being rude about it. |

Nika Ookamidai Location: Cafeteria Nika jumped when she felt a weight fall onto her shoulder, almost spilling her coffee. When she turned to look at it, she relaxed, seeing that it was only a small kitten saying hello. She bowed her head a little to allow the kitten to walk across her shoulders, but when she reached up to pet it, it had already jumped onto Leena's shoulder. She laughed at the sight of such a tiny kitten jumping from person to person, sniffing at them along the way. It was a rather far-fetched idea, but for a moment, Nika couldn't help but wonder if the kitten was actually another student. It was awfully limber for a kitten of its size, and while cats were rather curious as a species, this one seemed especially so. Regardless, Nika grew a little concerned at the same time, seeing the kitten had landed directly on Leena's scarf. She knew that she, for whatever reason, was particularly protective of that scarf, and that she wouldn't let anyone touch it. How was she going to react to this kitten, who had just jumped right onto it? |

Kael Leena's stiff way of speaking and nervousness didn't escape Kael, but he chose not to comment on it. He didn't have to worry long though, as Nika's arrival and their talking seemed to help her words and speech get a little smoother and more natural. It was something he'd found a little odd the first time the year started last year, but since she never gave an explanation why he always thought it best just to leave it alone. Verbally anyway. He certainly made his guesses. He nodded at Leena's offer of some of her food and accepted some of it, though he wisely kept his fingers from touching her french fries. He would be loathe to bequeath her of her favorite snack food. He glanced over the room as the two girls talked and saw the lunch line reaching the end of its life, as pretty much the entire student body was there, along with some of the assorted faculty members. Then Ryan arrived and he nodded to him and uttered a simple, "Well enough," that would suffice for now. He had already talked about his summer once, he didn't like having to repeat himself in such a relatively short span of time. Then the cat that he knew was the changed form of the senior girl Sahiba came over and jumped onto his shoulder. He started a bit and glared as best he could at the girl, but she didn't stay long and made her rounds about the table, ending with Leena and making the mistake of coming into contact with her seal skin. Kael braced himself for a not-so-good reaction from the girl and reached over, grabbing Sahiba's cat form maybe a little roughly by the fur at the back of her neck and pulled her away, setting her on the table and out of Leena's reach. Zack The Physician had been mostly correct in his assessment of the students. Most of them were indeed in the cafeteria, but that didn't mean he didn't encounter a stray wandering the halls every now and then. Mostly just freshmen. Every time he laid eyes on them, he gained the urge to do something - anything! - to cause them pain. Belittle them, insult them, hurt them... he could have used his powers to tamper with their bodies and they would never know about it was him... but no. He couldn't do that. He wouldn't let himself do that. Especially not on the first day. Of course, none of this moral quandary ever showed on his face. No, he was a mask of friendliness and politeness and he even pointed a couple lost students in the right direction. Still, it was clear he wasn't going to have any luck avoiding the students forever. It might just be best to go and face a whole crowd now and get used to it. He had gotten too used to the sparse people at the school over the summer, although he did see Kael often enough and he proved a tempting target at times. Still, he spent a few good minutes pacing one of the upper-floor hallways trying to make a decision before he gave up on the risk and instead oriented for the other side of the building towards the library. Hopefully, there wouldn't be many students there. He knew some of the more bookish ones would be there, though, and he had already braced himself for that. KASTIEL Kastiel gave Raphael a slight nod as the fellow teacher strode off towards the cafeteria. Kastiel was tempted to go there himself but he really did have to prepare his classes. He grumbled quietly for a moment then looked at Cable. "I'm actually going to have to pass on going to the cafeteria. I need to prepare my classes for tomorrow. I'll be in three-oh-four if anyone needs me. See ya, Cable." he said sadly. With that, Kastiel turned and started down the hall to his room. With a slight turn of the nob the door swung open and he was in his home away from home again. Everything was just as he had left it, messy. The table, floor and shelves were covered with scattered books, papers and the occasional musical instrument. There was a vase as a centerpiece on the table as well that held a wilted flower. Next to it was a family picture, well, the family he had on earth anyway. On the other side of the vase, an ornately framed picture of a brightly smiling woman that looked to be around the same age as Kastiel. Kastiel shut the door behind him after sticking his arm outside and waving to Cable. Kastiel then took a few steps inside before half-sitting, half-laying down on the couch. Now it was time for him to think for real about tomorrow. Edited by psy, July 19, 2010, 12:43 am.

Kara nodded. "I guess it makes sense...there are probably people here much less human than me." She didn't look much at the other students when she had been travelling to her dorm. Perhaps she should do so before the day ended. She let her mind drift a bit. What sort of beings came here? Were there others like her? What sort of powers existed? She shook her head a bit, coming to her senses. Well, it was nice meeting you, um...Ama." Kara said, finally working up the courage to lower the fan from her face. She really hated her nose, but if she was ever going to have a friend here, she couldn't hide her face from everyone. "How about we meet here again tomorrow during lunch?" |

![]() Ama "Muse" Rosen Location: Courtyard/Room 106 Ama was struck by the nose Kara had been hiding so diligently from behind her fan, though it seemed normal to have it when paired with her other features. Instead of acting appauled, Ama smiled at the girl's parting words. "Sure, that sounds like a great idea," she said calmly before grabbing her dorm key from her pocket. It was time to rest if only for a bit. Her body was aggrivatingly annoying in its complaints for a nap after the past few days. She twirled the key on her finger before looking back at Kara. "I'll be on my way, now. I have to unpack," Ama admitted with a grimace as she said her goodbyes and headed towards her room, 106. She spotted her bags next to her bed and sighed. Would she really unpack right now? No way. She put her schedule on the bedside table and dropped down on her bed for a moment, looking out the window. Later, she'd visit the music room. No doubt, they'd have something she could play on for fun. |

![]() Aki followed Jaya into the cafeteria. It was full of students, they all seemed so interesting and intriguing, all potential new friends. She smiled as she made eye contact with a few of them. Maybe she'd have classes with these people. Maybe they would bump into each other in the halls or at club meetings. One could never know. So Aki always tried to be friendly to strangers, just in case you met again. And at a small school like this, meeting again was likely. Jaya led Aki to a table where one boy sat alone, eating by himself. Aki was glad Jaya chose someone who looked lonely, rather than joining a large group of people. Though a large group of people was a good way to make friends. It was always nice to approach those who have no one now. Chances are they will be a great friend and introduce you to their other friends who happen to not be there at the moment. Or at least that is how Aki thought of it. "Hey! This is Aki, she is a freshman, my roommate. Aki, this is Daen. Whatcha eating? Can I have some?" Jaya spoke quickly, as Aki often did. They would make an interesting rooming pair for sure. This Daen character seemed a bit shocked, though happy, that they had come over to them. He intrigued Aki. There was definitely something different about him. She waved and smiled after Jaya introduced her. A potential friend is always a good thing to smile about. "It's nice to meet you. If you could understand Jaya then I suppose I'm being repetitive, but I'm Daen." "Hi Daen," Aki replied warmly, "As you already know I'm Aki, a new freshman. Pleasure to meet you!" Aki grinned again at Daen then sat down beside Jaya. Soon a few more people came to join them. Aki watched the conversations with interest. The teacher who sat down had something about him, but she couldn't put her finger on it. He was that Dr. Volerus that Jaya had mentioned earlier. She watched him for a bit, and then it dawned upon her. Since he had only met one before that's why it didn't come to her sooner. The inhuman demeanor, his seeming avoidance of the sunlight, his dislike for the mirror-like glasses of the boy beside them, she had to ask just to be sure. Not once did she think that he may have been hiding his true identity. "Uh... Sorry for interrupting," Aki butted it, "But sir, are you a vampire?" |

![]() Leena continued with her conversations until the small kitten, Sahiba, entered the picture. She knew Sahiba and of her powers, but she did not know the girl that well. Well enough to say Hi in the hallways. The girl began jumping from shoulder to shoulder of the people around the table and Leena watched with a small smile as they all continued on their conversation. That was, until Sahiba jumped upon her own shoulder, landing on her sealskin. Her entire body stiffened instantly and her hands flew up and grabbed the ends of the skin. "Please," Leena said stiffly, trying to control the shaking fear and anger in her voice, "Let go and get off of me." Her eyes were almost wild for a second, her instincts telling her to throw the kitten across the room, throw on her skin, and run to the sea in her true form, but she restrained herself long enough for Kael to make a move. He thankfully grabbed the small kitten off Leena and moved her out of her reach. It was a good thing too, because if she had been there a moment longer, Leena would have snapped. She took the sealskin off from around her neck and hugged it closely to her body trying to take a few deep breaths so she could calm down. Not all Selkies were as narcotic as she was. Leena had just seen what happened to her mother and vowed to never let the same thing happen to her. No one would ever have her skin except for Leena herself. Leena looked back up at the rest of the table and managed a weak smile. "Sorry about that," she muttered, "It's just... special to me, that's all." She carefully draped the skin around her neck again and moved back to her French fries, needing her comfort food. It was also an excuse to avoid eye contact with the rest of the table. |

![]() Kara smiled and waved as her new friend left. That was a lot easier than she expected it to be. That being said, it made plenty of sense. A lot of the people here probably had their share of strange problems, ones that made hers look petty. She could fit right in! This came with another realization; this place probably had some interesting books, too! Her spirits lifted, Kara began making her way to the library. Raising her fan back to cover her face, Kara took her map in the other hand and began to follow the path to the library. Her eyes focused on the map, she was not looking in front of her, and soon crashed into a man who was also headed to the library, and her light weight caused her to fall over backwards, dropping her fan. She looked up. Was it a student? No, he was a bit old for a student. Probably a teacher. Grabbing her fan, she stood up, blushing furiously, not meeting his gaze. "S-sorry sir. I wasn't looking where I was going." |

~Cafeteria~ Professor Raphael seemed disappointed that abet wasn't interested in his areas of expertise. Sabet grinned at the mention of meteorology. He nearly laughed when his powers were brought up right afterwards. "Yes professor, Meteorology is very close to what I'm interested in. As for my abilities..." He said rather loudly with excitement in his voice at the irony of his powers and interest in school. He leaned in and whispered into the professors ear "My powers lie in the wind. I am half air elemental." He wanted to keep his powers a secret from his fellow students as long as possible. It felt like he should hold back for now for some reason. He then leaned back and started chugging some of his milk when the fatal question was asked "Uh... Sorry for interrupting, but sir, are you a vampire?" At this Sabet nearly shot his mouthful of milk into Daens face, but he managed to swallow it. "What!?" He asked with a laugh, his eyes closed and a grin on his face. |

Nika Ookamidai Location: Cafeteria "Please, let go and get off of me." After hearing Leena's warning to the kitten, Nika tensed, bracing herself for whatever action she might have taken to get it off of her scarf. However, thankfully enough, Kael intervened, taking the kitten by the scruff of its neck and placing it on the table, out of harm's way. With a sigh, Nika relaxed. "Sorry about that. It's just... special to me, that's all." "No need to apologize," Nika replied with a smile. "It's understandable. I'm just glad nothing came of that." She reached over to the kitten, petting it as she spoke. |

Sahiba Sahiba took in the reactions of the group as she made her way around. She caught Kael's glare as she moved towards Nika, who'd tensed initially but seemed to relax as she saw she wasn't in danger, it was only a kitten on her shoulder. The conversation continued around her as she reached Leena, who froze as soon as Sahiba landed on her. Her ears pinned back guiltily as Leena spoke up, her voice strained with a mix of fear and anger. Oops... Sahiba started to do as the girl asked, then squeaked in surprise as she was picked up, not so nicely, by the scruff of her neck and moved across the table. As she was set back on her feet, the kitten shook her head a bit and glanced around to figure out who picked her up. Kael, apparently. Leena spoke up then, her voice a bit softer than before, but she seemed to avoid looking at anyone. Why? She had nothing to feel bad about, it wasn't her who caused the trouble. Sahiba pinned her ears back, again, despite Nika's petting. She turned towards the end of the table before jumping off. She stood, now in her human form, and turned towards Leena, her brown eyes downcast before she met the other girl's gaze. "I'm so sorry, hun... I didn't even think before I came over to you... I didn't mean to make you uncomfortable..." she said, her expression and voice sincerely apologetic. She glanced at Kael and gave a slightly embarrassed smile. "Thanks, by the way. It's not too very often someone reacts quicker than me.. I was about to move but I won't complain about the help." She looked away from the boy and back to Leena, her expression contrite, she truly hadn't meant to cause trouble. Edited by PinxieMelody, July 19, 2010, 7:40 pm.

![]() Raphael had been about to remark on how unsurprising it was for someone like Sabet to be interested in meteorology when he heard a very awkward question posed for him from the other side of the table. It was one of the girls who were with the white-haired boy. A freshman, by the looks of her. And she had just asked him if he was a vampire. Well, this wasn't the first time he'd been asked such a thing. He had the grace to not appear overly surprised by the question, but it still caught him off-guard. Naturally, it was time for him to lie. He was quite good at that when it came to hiding what he was. "No," he answered plainly, his oddly-colored eyes--about the same shade of lilac as his eyeshadow--fixing on her. "Though I find myself curious to know why you would ask such a question of me." Perhaps there was something he had done to give her such an idea that he could be more careful about in the future. To Sabet, he inquired softly, "And what are you able to do with the wind at present?" All of the students here had something with their powers they needed to improve on. He, for instance, had heard that the white-haired boy was a changeling. But the changeling was still a novice at changing his appearance. No doubt the white hair and nearly white eyes were a result of that. ![]() Daen realized that he had very nearly had milk spit in his face, so his attention was understandably focused on what was going on with the teacher and the red-head on the other side of the table. Also he has been interested in Dr. Volerus' reply about the vampire thing. He'd been expecting the man to deny it, but what he hadn't expected was the very faint tell that he was lying. Changelings were naturals at deception. As a result, they also had a knack for telling when someone else was lying. And Dr. Volerus was lying. He was definitely lying. And Daen was pretty certain no one else at the table would be able to tell. He'd heard rumors, of course, that Dr. Volerus wasn't human. But a vampire? He'd heard nothing of the sort, and he was alarmed that they had a vampire as a teacher here. Vampires were... well, they were dangerous. The headmaster must have quite a bit of trust in Dr. Volerus' restraint for him to allow the vampire to teach here. But Daen would keep this realization to himself, for now. So long as the vampire didn't threaten anyone, he'd keep the man's secret. Though he couldn't help but wonder how many other students were aware that he was a vampire... ((Heheh. Raphael's bluff check... Exceeded by Daen's sense motive check. D&D references... Wonderful things...)) |

Ryan Tills Ryan reached up to pet the kitten that had landed on his shoulder. It was probably Sahiba just saying hi so He'd return the favor. As she jumped off to the others he reached foreward grabbing some ketchup and mustard for his burger. Closing the cap on both condiments he heard Nika "And yourself?"in response to his question of how he was doing. "Oh not bad..got most of the summer to practice since mom and dad were out of the house for month long trips..I think they're starting to suspect each other of cheating but that's none of my buisness..." Ryan took a large bite of his burger and swallowed before continuing"Other than that nothing new for me..." Looking around the Cafeteria real briefly while he ate Ryan kept thinking that there seemed to be more new faces than usual. Of course this could have been because it was the first meal At Hidden hills which was always extra crowded for some reason. Shrugging he finished off his small meal of one burger and a small salad and pushed the tray away from him not wanting to give up the seat near his friends to just deposit his stuff in the dirty dishes line. Pulling out his pad of paper and his pencil he put the paper down on the table and twirled the pencil in his fingers. He wasn't going to draw anything but if he got an idea he wanted to be able to start right away. Though i could draw us all sitting here...kind of a first day back portrait thing.... All of a sudden a little scene unfolded in front of him as Sahiba got a little too close to Leena.Well to be more precise, something, of Leena's that was very special to her. Fortunately, by some quick reactions by Kael the crisis was averted. And Sahiba changed to her human form to apologize. ~Cafeteria~ Sabet continued to keep his grinning and unsuspecting face up. However he felt a hint of deception in the professors voice. Since sound waves go through the air, Sabet detected a vibration that instinct told him meant raphael was lying. usually he wouldn't have picked up on it, but since he was this close to raphael, it was hard to miss. He just shook his head and said "I've been practicing for a while, so i can do a great many things, but none with much control. thats why i'm here guess" he said. The fact that he was sitting next to a vampire didn't bother him much, he thought it was rather cool, actually. |

![]() Raphael was pleased that no one was obviously calling him out on his lie, but he did see a hint of understanding in the changeling's expression. Naturally, he couldn't really expect to fool a changeling. But he didn't notice that Sabet had caught his lie. "Is there anything specific that you need assistance with? Besides general control, I mean." There were some things that he could help with, after all. He could turn into a cloud of vapor, more or less, and there was no better way to see how the air was moving than looking at the particles in the air. He could be of great assistance to Sabet. And he would do this as a favor to the boy's father. He was unlikely to give any other student such special attention. Unless it had to do with one of his classes. He didn't usually help with students' powers. Rare occasion indeed. |

~Cafeteria~ As if Sabet was reading the professors mind, he said "Well, I've been trying to do one of the most basic things my kind can do, but I'm having difficulty. I'm attempting to convert myself into air, but I can't hold it, and a lot of times i cannot even become intangible. It's the only thing I've tried so far that i can't seem to gain some basic control over." He said matter of factly, being quiet so no one would hear him talking about his abilities. He didn't need any particular help with academics, he was a bit advanced to be truthful, but he liked to go at it slowly to gain a greater understanding of what he was learning. He looked at Daen, unaware of who or what he was, or the fact that he had caught Professor Raphael's lie. "Sorry i almost blew milk on you, i was surprised" He directed at daen, chuckling. |

![]() "I may be able to offer some assistance with that," Raphael told him softly. He certainly picked up on the fact that Sabet wished for no one else to be aware of his powers. Raphael could certainly understand the feeling. He didn't exactly broadcast what he was capable of. Sure the other teachers knew, but he tended to keep his abilities a mystery so far as the students were involved. But he would be willing to help Sabet with his powers. Since he actually could. Being around so many people was beginning to get to Raphael slightly, but he wasn't letting it show. He was longing for that packet of blood that he had in his pocket, but he didn't think he'd be able to slip some of its contents into a drink at this moment. Not with so many students at the same table as him. He'd just have to hold on for a little while longer. The lunch hour was nearly over, anyway. ![]() Daen laughed off Sabet's apology. Since no milk had actually been sprayed, Daen saw no reason to be anything but amused. Close calls were usually funny things, in his book. "No harm done," he said with a smile. "I'm Daen, by the way. Just Daen." No last name for him. Since he had no idea who his parents were and he hadn't exactly been taken in by another family. |

KASTIEL (( Solo time-skip here to show Kastiel being sick )) Later that night, just before Kastiel would have normally gone to sleep, he felt his stomach tossing and turning. He waited for a while and kept reading his book but the queezy feeling start to intensify to the point where he knew this was not going to be pleasant. When he could hold off no longer and starting gagging Kastiel dashed off to the washroom attached to his room. Kastiel barely made it in time. He got to the toilet just as the vomit was coming up and kneeled down in front of it with, bracing himself with both hands on either edge of the bowl. Three seconds passed before he hacked up an awful mess. More and more vomit spewed out and he made terrible groaning sounds all the while. When he finally finished the first vomit of the night seven to ten minutes later he sat down on the bathroom floor, exhausted. His rest was short lived though as the queeziness came back suddenly and he vomited again. This vomiting went on throughout the night every hour or so. Kastiel realized that he must have some form of stomach flu and knew that he would certainly not be teaching tomorrow, and maybe not even the next day. (( There's my last post before I go on vacation. I will be back on the 26th, at which point Kastiel may feel better depending on the day IRP. )) Edited by psy, July 20, 2010, 12:37 am.

![]() Ama "Muse" Rosen Location: Room 106/Music Room Ama blinked, the light hitting her face a bit unnerving to the one eye that absorbed its hit. She mumbled to herself and rolled over in the bed she'd taken for her own in room 106. Her one good eye landed on the clock and she jumped up, roughly brushing her hair with her hands. She checked her breath and thankfully, it hadn't fallen into the "bad morning breath" category in the time she'd spent in her nap. She didn't want to sleep the day away when she still wanted to see the music room without other students around. She stood up, shoved her feet into her shoes and walked out of the room at a fast pace. Shoot! She had forgotten her map. She went back in and rustled through her papers until she found the map where she'd circled the location of the music room. Ama shoved it into her backpocket and continued through the threshold and down to the first floor to find the room. Soon she was in the hallway filled with classrooms. Now, it was up to her to find it in this long line. Ama took the map out of her pocket and looked at it. It was somewhere in the middle... She walked forward, eyes glued to the paper as she made her way through the hall and finally stopped in front of a door. She looked up and peered in through the small window, grinning as she spotted a large piano situated towards the front of the room. "There you are, my pretty," she murmured softly as she tried the doorknob. It was open, thankfully and she walked into the room, surrounded by her element. She was beaming. Ama walked over to the piano, peered around to make sure no one was there, and then sat down to play. For a moment, her hands just stayed there above the keys, shaking. She hadn't played the piano in such a long time. The one time she had done so was in elementary for a talent show by the school. It had been their piano, since she didn't have one at home. Ama took a deep breath before putting her fingers to the keys and began to play the song from the talent show, Claire de Lune. She smiled in humble content as the music filled the room as well as the hall, since she'd left the door wide open. She didn't notice, or didn't care, and continued to play. |
