"That's the last of it," Nika said aloud, hanging a shirt onto an empty hanger and hanging it in her closet. With nearly a fortnight's worth of clothing, her parents certainly didn't leave her here unprepared.

Now, the last thing left in her suitcase was a large, fluffy blue comforter. She picked it up, unfolding it. This was one of her only connections to home, not to mention her favorite comforter. She hugged it for a brief moment, then refolded it and draped it over the foot of her bed. As valuable as it was to her, it was currently much to hot to be sleeping underneath a heavy comforter like this, so for now, it would have to remain as it is.

Finished unpacking, Nika tossed the now empty suitcase under her bed, and exited her dorm. Now, she was in the mood for something to eat.

The cafeteria was already packed with students and faculty alike, despite how early it was. This hardly fazed Nika as she made her way to the line. She enjoyed this academy's menu because it always seemed to have at least one entree that she enjoyed.

Seeing how long the line was, she took the time to glance around the cafeteria, seeing if she could spot any familiar faces from where she was.

Kastiel sat in the grass for a long while and saw some interesting things because of his lingering. He noticed Ryoku sitting by the statue, but before he could bring himself to get up the new senior was off to his dorm room. I hope those in the school enjoy the light show he mused to himself while stiffling a laugh.

Of course, the most interesting thing he noticed was that one of the freshmen could control time, albeit not too well. He assumed it was one of the freshmen because the sensation of deja vu passed over him sporadically as the new and returning students hurried into the school. Excitement was often the cause of such events, and who's more excited than a freshy? No one.

The final interesting event was a boy that disappeared into thin air, causing some concern for the students. Kastiel though just found it entertaining. The entire day so far had been entertaining with students scurrying about. Some of his old students had waved to him as they went inside but none stopped to talk, of course, none really had the time or patience on the first day. That was fine with Kastiel, there was plenty of time to catch up with them all.

Kastiel peered a few feet away from him at a butterfly that was fluttering around a flower in full bloom. In a flash Kastiel had transformed into the butterfly, much to the surprise of students who hadn't met him before. A few of them whispered among each other, others pointed, gasped. There was a whole range of reactions to the instantaneous transformation.

In his new butterfly form, Kastiel flew over the heads of some students before making his way through the front door and over to the three hundred rooms. Once he entered the corridor he took notice of Raphael and Cable chatting with each other. Much to his delight, Cable had a whole tray full of blessed coffee! He flew in between the two of them then spun around and quickly transformed back into his normal form. Without a word he swiped a coffee from the tray and took a drink of it to claim it as his.

"Thanks for the coffee, Cable." he remarked with a delightful smirk on his face, "How are you two fine gents doing then?" he continued politely.

"I would be doing far better if it was not so early in the day," Raphael stated in one of those you-should-know-this-already tones. It was one of his favorites tones to use, and he certainly used it often in class if someone asked a stupid question. Or if he was going over material that everyone should already know. For instance, that animal and plant cells are different in structure. That's a no-brainer. In his mind, at least. As for how they are different, he was a little less condescending in tone when explaining that. Some people may not know about chloroplasts and central vacuoles and such. They probably should, though. By this point.

He sighed and leaned against the wall, allowing the hood of his cloak to cast a better shadow over his made-up face. Yeah, he knew it was awfully weird for a grown man to wear make-up as he did. Yeah, he also knew it would be far more unsettling for his students to know they were being taught by a vampire. Some might not mind, but some might feel very uncomfortable around someone who lives off blood. Especially a vampire as powerful as he was. They probably didn't know he couldn't get them in the middle of the night anyway. He couldn't enter their rooms. Without their permission, at least.

Aki smiled happily as she looked at her roommate. This girl, Jayashri Kiseki, seemed to be very nice. And so far, she seemed to like her too. It would not be a good thing to not get along with a roommate. So it was quite good that they were clicking so quickly, at least on the surface. Her mother's first roommate ended up being a horrible person, or so she heard. But her father's became one of their best friends. So it was a hit or miss, and hopefully Aki and Jaya would be a hit.

"That's awesome...What attributes of each race do you have? Do you have any special weaknesses created by the meshing or two species?"

"I'm pale, as you can tell, like my mother," Aki began to explain, "But I'm not cold to the touch like she is, I'm rather hot, like my father. I have a few odd markings like he does as well, but not as many as the average demon. The gift I have, the reason I am here, leans more toward a stereotypical demon but it is a little different. Um... there are no weaknesses that I have noticed yet."

"Second gen, to, eh? I'm like...eighteenth generation Hidden Hills Alumni...Sophomore, by the way."

"Second generation, two parents," Aki stated proudly, "The current headmaster was only a young man when he taught my parents. But I'm sure you had a family member who knew him as well."

"Can you go out into the sun?"

"Yes, I can," Aki giggled, "It just makes me sneeze."

She loved being asked questions and her new roommate seemed to like asking them. It was looking out to be a great relationship already. That excited Aki as did everything else that had been happening this day. And her roommate was a sophomore too; maybe she could show her around and help her out a bit. Being a freshman was a bit scary, even though she had visited the school often with her parents. Now the school was hers though, and she was going on her own.

Leena meandered slowly through the halls of the school, making her way to the cafeteria. She took note of many students she knew and recognized, though she was not in the mood to stop and chat yet. She hadn't spoken with her human tongue since the end of last year and she was not at the point where she could trust it to sound right. So instead, she nodded and smiled politely, while continuing on her way to the dining area. Her stomach growled at the thought of having french fries, her favorite human food. They didn't offer that were she lived; she had been on a diet of seafood for three months. And she did love seafood, but once you have other options, you realize what other things are out there awaiting your taste buds.

The smell was almost intoxicating. As she glided into the cafeteria, almost as if she was in a dream. Raw fish can only do so much for you. It was time for some hot delicious cooked food once again. Leena grabbed a tray and filled it with delicious treats. French fries, cookies, pasta, and more. She smiled down at the feast before her as she went to go find a table. Few people were in the cafeteria so it was not hard for her to find a table for herself. It was a little early for dinner, but Leena didn't care, she couldn't wait to taste human food again.

Her first bite into a crispy french fry was like a dream. She closed her eyes and smiled, savoring the taste and the heat of the cooked food. How she had missed this. She may think humans are odd at times, but they sure knew how to eat. Leena smiled to herself and continued to eat from the massive array of food before her. She didn't care what people thought of her. Humans had an odd obsession with weight. With her people, it was good to have more blubber. But humans thought it was best to be skinny. At least she was skinny in her human form, swimming would do that for you.

((Okay, here goes... ))

While many of the freshmen and returning students were getting their things unloaded, taken in and unpacked, Kael Parson was reclining on his bed in room 201, the room he'd had to himself for the past two years of his attendance at Hidden Hills. His things had never gone into a suitcase in the first place, he stayed there during breaks. It wasn't like he had any place to return to anyway. The orphanage was glad to get rid of him and the school didn't want to toss one of their students out on the street. Bad PR and all that.

The room was meant for two people, but that didn't prevent Kael from making use of the extra space. The two beds were pushed together on one side of room and one of the dressers were stacked on top of each other on the opposite side (his control over gravity made moving it so much easier!). An old bookcase he managed to come across took up a good chunk of the wall on one side. Only a few of its shelves actually had books on them, but that was something he was working on fixing. One of the other shelves was reserved for the various nick-knacks he picked up during his time here and during breaks when he went on walks in the woods.

Sighing, he sat up and stopped tuning out the buzz of noise coming from beyond the door. It was a lot louder than when he remembered it first starting up, which meant pretty much all the students had arrived and were getting settled. He wondered if any of his friends, a word he used tentatively for some of them, had arrived yet. Jaya was likely zipping from person to person and hitting them with a barrage questions. As for the others... well, they probably weren't staying cooped up in their rooms like he was.

And like he suspected he would earlier, he couldn't stand it anymore.

Hopping off the combined beds, he slipped on his shoes and a light jacket. Running his fingers through his short brown hair, he put on a placid look to hide his inevitable irritation with the mass of people and opened the door. Once he was outside, he noticed Ryan and Ryoku pretty much immediately, along with a few unfamiliar faces whom he assumed were freshmen.

He walked by Ryan and patted him once on the shoulder with a simple "Hey" and kept walking. Once he was out of the hallway and in the main area where many halls and stairwells converged, he swept over the crowd with a single glance, picking out familiar faces among the strangers. Being taller than quite a few of the people there made it pretty easy.

Still, he didn't feel like struggling through the crowd so he used his power to make gravity's hold on him lighter and pushed off into the air. Thankfully, the ceiling was high in the room, so there was little risk of him hitting his head and he landed on the other side of the crowd. He felt many eyes on him at that moment, probably just the freshmen, and didn't waste any time in moving out of sight down the hallway to the cafeteria.

Of course, he didn't actually make it to the cafeteria. The line was so long, it actually extended a short ways into the hallway. One corner of his mouth twitched into a hint of a frown. Then he realized the person at the end of the line was Nika and his mood brightened just a little. He took his place behind her and brushed a finger against the tip of one of her two tails, that way she was less likely to turn around and go into an automatic punch, and said, "Hello Nika."

His greetings were always short and it had taken him some time to recognize how bad his people's skills were, so he was glad the few friends he had had largely learned to adapt to it. Still, he did try to learn and that was where his skills of observation always served him well. Well... at least until the people around him started talking about the stupidest things, in which case he stopped listening completely.

Shivering. She was shivering. Behind her closed eyes, images and sounds flashed around her, as though reality was disconnected.

They had her strapped down on the table, no anesthetic, as they poked and prodded her. She could hear them whispering and mumbling to each other, forgetting, as they always did, that she could hear and think and understand what they said.

"Her eyes are mismatched. Why should that be?"

"Take it out and dissect it."

"Then she won't be able to see."

"....Take it out...."

"...."won't be able to see..."

".....see..."

Fear was a cold emotion, and the faster Lien shivered at the memory she was stuck in, the nigthmare that had once been real, the slower the molecules in the matter around her moved. The bed was getting colder, the air was condensing, and she continued to shiver.

They where shadows around her, shadows that whispered words she knew would lead to pain. Their voices where filled with apathy and scientific inquiry. They didn't care what she felt or thought. They just wanted to understand what she was, and use her for their own purposes.

Who cared if she lost and eye? They could just implant one from some other experiment. She knew she wasn't the only odd being here that they studied. All the bloods they injected into her had more than proven that.

"Please...nooo...please...." She begged.

No, that was wrong. She had said nothing, just sat staring at the ceiling as they loomed closer, and she felt the press of a needle in her arm. Then blackness.

Pain. It hurt so much, as they reached into her eye socket with their claws, pulling out her eye.

No. There had been no pain.

Blind. She was blind and could not see.

She could see, albeit in a rather limited fashion.

Death.

She could feel moisture on her skin, and the hardened cold surface of the bed beneath her, but she couldn't wake. The dream had her in its grip and it was not letting her go.

The slow movement of the line was beginning to irritate Nika. It must have been at least fifteen minutes, and she had hardly budged from her spot in the hallway, into which the line had spilled out a little. Sure, she wasn't that hungry -- the people in front of her would surely have known if she was -- but just enough so to want to get her food and be done with it.

Even so, she couldn't help but be amazed at the population of the school. It was a private academy, and therefore nowhere near as populated as some of the public schools near her home, but there hadn't been anywhere near this many students attending last year. Or, perhaps this was the grand majority of the population here, and she had just decided to get breakfast at around the same time as everyone else? She didn't know. Deciding to drop her speculation, Nika's mind returned to thinking of what she was going to get once she could see the menu.

It was then that she felt something brush against one of her tails. She tensed instantly -- she despised having people touching her tails -- and the thought crossed her mind to raise her hand to strike the offending person behind her, but suddenly remembered that whoever did it didn't deliberately grab her tail, but simply brushed against it. Passing it off as an accident, she relaxed and decided to ignore it.

That was, until she heard the brief, familiar greeting from behind her immediately after. "Kael!" she replied as she turned around, delighted to finally see a familiar face. "It's so good to see you again! How are things going for you?" She knew full well that Kael had all but taken up permanent residence in his dorm, but it never hurt to ask. After all, she hadn't gotten to see any of her friends during break, since she was too busy being coddled by her family, so she had plenty of catching up to do.

Jaya was more than pleased when her roommate answered each and every question, no evasions. Not like some people...Kael, for instance, who almost always changed the subject. Jaya, of course, only caught him at if several hours later, when she thought over the conversations again. It was really annoying...She had spent her entire freshman year trying to learn more about his power...So far, she knew only a little bit.

Thinking about Kael reminded Jaya that Aki had mentioned she had powers that 'leaned toward the stereotypical demon' but where different...Instantly, she wanted to know how.

Just as she was about to ask, she got an idea. Checking that her bag was on her bed, and that her roommate's bags where tossed...somewhere, she grabbed Aki's hand and moved to pull her from the room. "Come on! I'll give you a quick tour and then we can hit the cafe!"

Jaya didn't exactly have a 'group' of friends. Like the creature her jacket mimicked, she was a bit of a social butterfly, flitting from one person and group to another. She was very friendly, and had no real issues with anyone in the school. As such, she was most likely to find a friend in the cafeteria, then in a 'regular' haunt.

It was also a good place to end any tour of the school. Almost a good a place as the library. Not to mention Jaya was feeling a bit peckish...

After a while of lounging alone in his room--still a single, for now--Daen stretched out a bit and got off his bed. He was starting to feel a bit hungry, so he supposed he might as well drop by the cafeteria and see what was there to eat. Ah, free meals that he didn't have to steal. This was going to be a good year. But then he'd be out on the street again until the following semester. He wasn't looking forward to that. Perhaps he could petition for summer housing? Yes, that would be awesome. For him, at any rate. He didn't know how many others would want to be at the school year-round.

He sighed before closing his eyes and focusing on changing his appearance. His skin at once became a natural shade for your typical Caucasian, and his hair became more substantial and far less wild. It was still white, though. He'd have to keep working on that. And his eyes, too. They were the same plain white they had been before. Though with a bit of extra focus, he got them to be gray. Well, at least that was more on the normal scale than pure white.

With that done, he left the room and headed into the cafeteria, groaning inwardly at the length of the line. Well wasn't this just wonderful...

Anya
So, the semi-dreaded moment was here. As much as she liked the school and the learning options it provided, Anya still found her stomach had itself in knots on the way to the school. Now, they were parked in front and she could see all the people walking around, some casually and others in an obvious hurry. These first few days were going to be considerately rough for the girl, getting used to blocking everyone out again. Already she could feel faint strands of emotion reaching out to her. She glanced over to her sister, who was settled in the back seat with her, their parents occupying the front. At least she had one ally with her. Her green eyes met Ana's before the girl took a breath to steady herself, then exited the car.

Her father already had the trunk open and was taking out some of the bigger luggage, his smile was meant to be encouraging as he looked between the two girls. Encouraging, yet he was just as nervous sending them back to the school as they, at least Anya, were about going back. Was he really starting to miss them already? Anya gave him a smile in return as she set her duffel bag on top of her rolling luggage. "Don't worry, father, we'll be fine and the year will pass before you know it. She was rewarded with a laugh and a hug, that she relaxed into. When he released her, Anya received a hug from her mother before she tugged her backpack out of the trunk, slinging it over her shoulder, and moved away from the car, tugging her luggage with her. She stood on the sidewalk, waiting for Ana, and watched some of the students wandering around the grounds. When her sister joined her, she waved goodbye to her parents and took another deep breath as the two headed into the school.

Anya steeled herself against the wave of emotions that hit her as they mingled with the crowd, heading to the dorm room. With everyone running about, there were always a few people within range of her abilities. Luckily, they seemed to leave as quickly as they came, all in a scurry to get where they needed to. The one constant, of course, was Ana and Anya focused on her sister, but was careful not to do so too much.

In what seemed like forever, the girls reached their dorm, number 105, and Anya gave a sigh of relief as the opened the door, moving inside quickly. Claiming one of the beds, she left the rolling luggage at the end and dropped her backpack on the bed before sitting on the edge. "Well, we're really back..." she murmured, not necessarily to Ana but loud enough the other girl could hear.

She scooted back on the bed, placing her back against the wall. She wasn't sure what her sister was planning to do but she, at least, was content in hiding in the room for a while. If Ana wanted to go anywhere and persisted enough, though, Anya knew she'd likely give in to the girl. She was good at ducking out of most social situations but she had a soft spot for her sibling. Besides, food might not be such a bad idea, she mused, resting a hand on her tummy.

Sahiba

Sahiba laughed at the chorus of greetings she received as she made her way to her dorm, 102. She waved and called out greetings in return as she weaved through the mass of students. Odd how there seemed to be more this year than usual, perhaps it was just her, though. She soon reached her room and entered, her head tilting as she saw one side of the room taken, although her roommate wasn't around. The girl smiled as she moved to the right side of the room, dragging her luggage with her. Opening the bigger luggage pack, she made the bed with her own comforter set and arranged the pillows at the head of it. Pushing that luggage bag under the bed, she decided to wait and put everything else away later. Turning, she headed back outside the school, wanting to enjoy some of the enjoyable weather.

Once outside, she smiled up at the sky and stretched. Changing into her kitten form, she ran around, then, weaving between students and chasing random things. She was careful not to get stepped on and smiled as she heard comments from a few students who saw her. During her running she caught sight of a butterfly fluttering above the heads of the students. Unable to curve the urge, as she was already in a playful mood, the kitten took off after the butterfly. As she followed him, she jumped and swatted at the little thing, not meaning to really catch it but having fun just the same. The cute antics were rewarded with some giggles and startled stares from some of the students who saw the random scene.

Sahiba paid them, and her location, no mind as she trailed the butterfly through the halls of the school. As it fluttered down a more empty hallway, she crouched down in a pouncing position and sneaked around the corner. She darted towards it just as the butterfly went between two talking teachers and changed forms, into that of Mr. Kaziel. She skidded to a stop and blushed under her fur as she realized she'd just unknowingly chased a teacher around the school.

Backing away, she went back around the corner and darted back towards the busy halls of the school. Avoiding being trampled, Sahiba looked around for a familiar face amongst the crowd. Sure, it'd have been easier to do this in her human form but she needed room for that. Besides, she was still enjoying her kitten form. Luck found her, though, as she caught sight of Ryoku heading down a hall. She took off towards him, eventually catching up, and, hoping he wouldn't mind, she meowed to let him know she was there, hoping to avoid a shock, before jumping onto his shoulder.

Kael offered a smile that had been quite rare for him over the summer. "Uneventful. Although the Headmaster kept me busy with some chores. Staying over the summer isn't exactly in the original deal, so I do have to pull my weight around here during breaks." The line began to move a bit, and the two of them kept up with it as a few more people settled in behind them. It really amazed him sometimes how many people could be packed into a building like this.

There was constant chatter all around them, some of it louder than others, but Kael mostly tuned it all out, listening only for key words that he'd made into a mental trigger to bring him out of his willing ignorance. Instead, he focused more on Nika, sparing only a terse glance to the rest of cafeteria and spotting a blissful Leena munching away at one of her favorite snacks. A small grin tugged at one side of his mouth before returning his hazel orbs to the wolf-girl in front of him.

"How was your summer?" He asked and stuck his hands into his pockets. He could imagine it being far more eventful than his own. He never went far from the school and the most interesting thing he might have done was go for walks in the woods or read a book.

KASTIEL

"Pleasant as always, Raphael." Kastiel said in reply, sipping gingerly from the coffee afterwards. Upon saying this a small furry animal caught his eye near the corner, between and beyond the fellow teachers. Kastiel smiled to himself as the cat darted off. Someone is having fun with their powers he thought to himself.

For a brief moment Kastiel got lost in his own thoughts, musing about the year to come as he had been off and on throughout the day. Then he got to thinking about planning his classes, which he had still not done. Of course, Raphael probably had all his classes planned out far ahead of time and Kastiel could do without a snarky remark from the vampire. Kastiel always felt a little small in the presence of Raphael, but he respected him as a fellow teacher nonetheless.

Kastiel snapped back to reality as soon as his tumbling of thoughts about the future ended. He felt he should say something to drive the conversation forward. First though he took another drink of the coffee, it really was quite good, though he preferred the cold variety, particularly on such a nice day.

"How were your summers? Anything exciting or interesting happen to either of you?" he asked, hoping to bring out some story that he could find some humour or amazement in.

Raphael raised an eyebrow at his fellow teacher's silence. It seemed to him like the man was lost in thought for a time, but when he returned to awareness and asked his question about their summers, it was Raphael's turn to think for a while. What could he possibly say about his summer? Sure he did some research, but mainly he was... Well, being a vampire. Might as well be painfully blunt.

"I spent the summer partaking of blood and working in a lab," he stated with a smile that showed his pointed fangs. "Perhaps your own summer was more eventful than mine." He was going to keep quiet about where that blood came from. He didn't much like to brag about how he had contacts at a blood bank that supplied him with all the blood he could ever want. Though that blood always tasted a bit like plastic. It could never compare to the fresh variety...

Cable

Cable was staring at the wall in-between rooms 304 and 305, seemingly deep in thought. He dazed out for a bit before realizing he was in a conversation.
"Ah, sorry." The man said, a hand behind his head. "You were asking how my summer was?" Cable let out a sly smile.

Closing his hand up tight and letting his prosthetic arm surge with a controlled amount of electricity, Cable spoke again. "I was practising, of course." The pale skinned man lost his expression, once again in thought. "Other than that, I visited my parents and the old construction site I lost my arm in. I think we also went to a nearby amusement park but, agh-" He hit himself. "I can't remember for the life of me what it was called. That whole part is a bit fuzzy, actually." Cable shrugged and laughed at his comment.

"So what about you, Kaz?" He asked, sipping coffee.

Nika nodded at Kael's reply. Sure, while there were chores involved, it was more than likely the least he could do as repayment for the headmaster's letting him stay in his dorm over break.

When Kael asked her how her own break had gone, the question popped into her mind: Where to begin? She shook her head and laughed to herself. "Mine was... eventful enough," she managed to summarize it. "My parents hardly left me alone all summer." She could easily have gone on and on about it, but she was quite sure that her friend wouldn't particularly want to hear about the many little trips that she had been on, so she left her summary as it was.

She glanced toward the front of the line, relieved to see that it had begun to pick up speed. She could finally see into the cafeteria, which was already partly occupied with students.

Finally, it looked like the line was moving. Daen found himself soon at the front, and once he had filled up a tray with whatever food looked reasonably edible--with cafeteria food, you really did have to be careful--and he went to find a place to sit down.

He chose a place near the back corner. There was plenty of space there, and he sat alone. If anyone wanted to talk, they'd join him. He'd rather just eat and get back to his room. If his roommate had shown up, he wanted to set some ground rules sooner rather than later.

"Come on! I'll give you a quick tour and then we can hit the cafe!"

It was if this girl had read her mind. A tour from a current student, rather than her nostalgic parents. It was exactly what she had been hoping for. Now she could find out where people hung out now a days and maybe figure out where all her classes were. This was perfect!

"Awesome!" Aki giggled in response, following Jaya out the door.

They passed all sort of people on their way around the school. People who may be potential friends to Aki if she wanted. Hopefully people would like her here at Hidden Hills. At times she had been called a bit annoying, or too peppy, but that never brought her down. She could always find a group of people who appreciated her optimism and took her in. Aki loved having a tight group of friends, but she also liked knowing everyone. Hopefully, here at Hidden Hills, she could do something like that.

Her optimism had always been an odd quality of hers. With such depressing parents, though it was all for show, it was hard to fathom that their daughter could be such a ray of sunshine. Also, with her power connecting her to the world of the dead, it was even more difficult to imagine. But it was just that connection that made her that way. She learned about life through stories. Spirits she would befriend would tell her about their lives and she would listen and absorb. Her life was so easy compared to some of theirs. And she learned from them, that there always is a light at the end of the tunnel, everyone does look up eventually. That is why she never let life get her down, no matter how bad it seemed to be.

KASTIEL

Raphael's answer was very much what Kastiel expected to hear. Yet the thought of drinking blood still made him a bit queezy. There was no relating to the action for Kastiel and the closest he could ever come to having that desire would be if he took Raphael's form, which he generally avoided. Feelings of sickness aside, Kastiel nodded to Raphael in recognition of him responding.

Cable's response sat more comfortably with Kastiel. He nodded to him as well. "Sounds like a fun time, Cable. Your parents are doing fine I trust." he said with every intent on wishing Cable's family a good life. Kastiel was reminded of what he had done during the summer with Cable's display of his arm.

"You remember at the end of last year how I proposed the idea of being able to mimic powers, right? Well, I believe I've taken the first steps to doing so, although I've made little progress so far. I did however make a breakthrough in the other power augmentation I proposed. The memory mimic as I phrased it I believe." he said, instantly moving the conversation topic to his own studies.

Kastiel continued with his discussion after a brief pause to ease his excitement, "About a week ago I was able to mimic a vivid memory, that of my old cat. Of course, my mind has to be intensely focused on that memory. It's exciting nonetheless."

Raphael listened with quite some interest as Kastiel explained his more recent breakthroughs with his powers. The vampire didn't often push the boundaries of what he could accomplish. Mostly because he was afraid of his own power sometimes. Though it was getting to be commonplace for others to be under his control, it still unnerved him to some extent when he saw someone change from an independent person to his slave for a short while. Despite what he was, he did have a conscience.

"Well, I would advise you to keep from mimicking my own memories," he stated coolly. "Some may not be to your liking, my friend." Oh, so many wouldn't be to his liking. It wasn't like the vampire hadn't killed people before. It had been a while since he had taken a life--the blood bank was to thank for that--but he'd still taken many lives in the past. Plus, he wasn't certain if Kastiel would be able to mimic his memories, seeing as the vampire's mind was a closed book for all intents and purposes.

Jaya literally dragged Aki to the first stop on the tour - the Library. It was always her favorite place, and she made sure everyone knew where it was. On the way, she kept up a constant litany, explaining every room they passed, a bit about some of the students they also passed, and other random facts that came into her head. There was barely time for Aki to get a word in edgewise.

After the library, Jaya took Aki to the school rooms, this time talking about the teachers and subjects and some of the fun things they had done the year before. Her favorite class, and teacher, was Chemistry, with Dr.Volarus, because it was very similar to potion making. As such, she spent a good deal of time talking about Chemistry and how awesome it was. Oddly enough, she had almost nothing to say about the teacher himself. Jaya thought it was a good idea for Aki to meet Dr.Volarus with no preconceptions. Especially considering the fact that she was half vampire herself.

After the classrooms, Jaya dragged Aki up a small tower, to the one window from which one could see the entire grounds. There, she pointed out a few choice spots to hang.

Now it was time for the cafeteria. Not stopping her chattering lecture about the school and the students, Jaya quickly made the way to the cafeteria. Not surprisingly, there was a pretty long line. For some odd reason, more students congregated to the cafetera on the first day than on any other day of the year. Something about being back, and being able to be with all the other students...Personally, Jaya would rather be in the library. But that would never do, not with a freshman in tow.

When she saw the line, however, she paused, and actually stopped speaking for a few minutes. "Um....right. Do you actually want to wait in line to eat, or just...go hang out until the line goes down a bit?" Maybe if they found one of Jaya's 'friends', they could 'borrow' some food. Yeah, that sounded like fun.

I write for the same reason I breathe, because if I didn't - I would die.

Ryoku's face became blank after the Freshman ran off. As he heard a "meow" on the back of him, he thought that was no other person than Sachiba. "Huh?" Ryoku said flustered, as a cat hopped on his shoulder. He stared at the cat straight in the eye, "well, hi to you too..." he said, in a cold voice. He didn't seem to be making any progress in making his attitude and personality to be a lot more...positive. Ryoku is the typical grumpy kid who just about dislikes everything, he accepts a few people in his life, few like Aiyana Kai and Sachiba. Others such as Ryan Tills are people he might consider being friends with, but he doesn't make friends, he's usually the one that gets dragged into uncalled friendships.

Ryoku walked around the area for 5 minutes, with Sachiba in her cat form as always, jumping on people's shoulders. He gave off a big sigh, expecting something interesting to happen anytime. He only looks forward to causing havoc and chaos wherever he goes. He didn't know what else to do, so he strolled off into the cafeteria, while looking back at Ryan Tills. "Hey...you coming?" he said to Ryan and continued. He nearly reached the doors of the cafeteria, passing the hallway of the teachers and staff. He noticed Kastiel and the rest of the teachers talking, so he gave them a stiff wave with his left arm.

With Sachiba still on his shoulders. He glanced at the seemingly playful cat, and said "soooooooo.... how's the view from there" while nudging his shoulder a little to annoy Sachiba. They reached the Cafeteria, and immediately as soon as Ryoku entered, the entire cafeteria lights flicked 3 times. It caused a slight murmur, but that was normal whenever he passed some stupid lights, or makes contact with them. Looking in every direction, he tried to spot familiar faces.

Leena continued to happily crunch on her french fries and other assorted food items. She would probably be here awhile because she had so much food. Leena was also someone who savored, rather than someone who eats everything quickly. She looked around to see if any of her friends were about and may wish to sit with her. Leena did love eating, but she also liked to do it in the company of others. Her type is not solitary, despite being secretive, which is an odd thing indeed.

The cafeteria was beginning to fill up quickly. Most of the tables were occupied; some were already full of chatting young people catching up with one another. The food line was out the door by now, she was lucky to get here early enough to avoid the line. Leena glanced at all the food before her and wondered if anyone would wish to share. Yes, she could eat all of it, but she didn't need all of it. If she spotted any of her friends in the line, she would try to wave them over so they could share.

Squinting, Leena glanced over the food line to see if she could spot any of her friends. Her eyes almost missed them, but she finally spotted Kael and Nika. They were both good friends from the past years, or as good of friends that Leena made. Kael had helped her out of a sticky situation once and Nika had always been nice to her. Leena stood up and waved to them, hoping that she would notice her. If they got their own food, they may come and sit with her. If they didn't want to wait in line, they could certainly share with her. She pulled her sealskin scarf more tightly around her neck and sat back down to continue eating.

He nodded at her answer. He understood how her family was towards her. It was something he envied her for, but he couldn't hold it against her. "That's good to hear," He said as he looked up along the line. It was starting to pick up the pace and it wouldn't be much longer before they could get their own food. He glanced over the cafeteria, flinching at the number of people and how quickly tables were filling up.

Then he noticed Leena waving to them and nodded with a small smile. "Our spot's been secured," He said to Nika before he was able to grab a tray and started tossing on food and some soda. Turning and heading over to the cheery girl, he set his tray down and took his seat next to her, "Hello, Leena. How are you?"

Zack Garrison

Ah, the beginning of a new school year... it was like a blessing and a curse at the same time for Dr. Zack Garrison. A blessing, because it meant he could use his powers to help the students and faculty again and do some more good. A curse, in that it meant his sadistic urges were going to sky-rocket exponentially. It was good that he had a large and growing collection of bloody, gory movies to take the edge off, but it wouldn't solve the problem entirely.

He kind of wished he was in his room watching those now, actually, with the growing influx of students arriving. He could hear them even from the infirmary - bright and cheerful voices full of a mixture of excitement and nervousness. So full of potential... the potential to scream. And bleed. Preferably both, at the same time. Zack frowned as he found his thoughts going down that track and sighed, pushing his rimless glasses back up his nose and closing his amber eyes.

No, no... mustn't start thinking like that so early... just hold out until the day's end... He calmly chided himself and stood up from his desk. He glanced over the cool, sterilized room at the empty beds - a pity, he caught himself thinking - and considered going to talk to the other faculty members. He decided against that, however, as he didn't doubt it would take him past the crowds of students and that was the last thing he needed at the moment.

Instead, he departed the clinic and decided to walk the halls for a while, taking roundabout routes he knew by heart that would circumvent the students and help him let out some of his pent up energy, reciting medical theory in his head, particularly the ones pertaining to his power.

Sahiba

Sahiba meowed, again, as Ryoku gave his usual cold voice. She never could explain how she could put up with his constant negative attitude but she'd only ever shrug. It was just Ryoku. Eventually, she'd gotten an idea of his expressions and demeanor. The fact that he was her friend now and hadn't shocked her or pushed her away was a good sign. He wasn't totally annoyed by her.

As he made his way down the hall, she took a few chances to jump onto the shoulders of some of the other students, in way of greeting. She'd lean into the scratches and purr at the attention before moving on, eventually finding herself back on Ryoku's shoulder.

She peeked over to see who Ryoku had waved at and blushed again as she saw the teachers. She briefly wondered if Kaziel had noticed her earlier and ducked her head a bit. As they came up to the cafeteria, the girl wasn't surprised by the flickering lights, it was another constant around Ryoku and it no longer surprised her. Just like the nudge Ryoku gave, that usually annoyed her, as he asked about the view. She shuffled on his shoulders, indeed slightly annoyed at the movement, but she'd learned to keep her balance on him. Remembering his question, she purred and rubbed against the back of his neck. The view from here was much better than nearly being trampled on the ground.
