On the vast desert sands of Kazdan, two groups are at war. One fights for everlasting peace and tranquility. The other fights for what they claim is theirs and is the ultimate goal worth of taking down empires and Kazdan. On the eastern side of Kazdan, lays a fortress, a haven for those in danger and seek refugee from the menacing tyrants known as Serenity. The side of avengers, peacemakers, vengeful souls, the gifted, Harmonix. This haven is known as Veldin, a wide village made of mostly sand. Since not many roam around the parts of the place. A brave old elder has managed to spend quite some time in the village and memorized every hole, turn, and shortcut through the village. The elder has put up a large scroll on the side of the entrance to a huge circle area in the center of the village. "If you ever find yourself lost and wandering around, just go look for the pole in the middle of the circle and take a look at this scroll" the elder proudly announces. Veldin Scroll Two civilians talk among to each other the corner by a small sand house. One man asks: "Serenity is nothing but a standard military unit right?" and the other man reacts and answers "WRONG! They are power hungry monsters!! MONSTERS!!" with that having said, the man started freaking and yelling about random gibberish words not of humanlike. On the Northwestern section of Kazdan and the Eastern Regions, a place where corruption, greed, an area completely shrouded in total darkness. Some say it's where the ultimate organization resides. But what was this so organization? It was the headquarters of the almighty and powerful Serenity. It's standard name was Syntec Bioware Weapons HQ, but the members themselves call it Bio-Tech HQ. "That's where it all started. This stupid war is all because of ONE screw up because of one idiotic soldier. WHY! WHY, TELL ME WHY!!!" It was all true, this war named the 'The Apocalypse War' has been started up by one defective shot from a super advanced weapon from Serenity's research lab. When the trigger was released, the weapon self imploded, releasing a gas of nuclear radiation all throughout the headquarters. As the gas spread, it mutated a great deal of soldiers. Those who were in range of the explosion either died or survived then died a few days later on. Now the rest of Serenity, in the headquarters, the gas violently crept through vents, holes, and any other small openings, thus inducing massive failure to the power and illnesses on the soldiers. They had schizophrenia or they were given enhanced abilities. This includes jumping, stamina, intelligence, but that all came with a big price. Their physical appearances were obscured by the gas' toxic radiation. So a few months later the unaffected scientists fled into the labs and started developing suits that matched the appearance of their new genetic soldiers. Along the usual walls and columns you see at Serenity, a map of the place was always seen. But this is what the outside looked like, a rundown and destroyed Base. The real base was out of sight. Possibly underground. Only a warehouse could be seen. Bio-Tech Base The sky was burning with a flare red and the drums of war thunder once more. The Sun putting it's flaming stare into the people of Kazdan with great disappointment. Birds caw and call out for each other, and in the distant horizons, weapons can be heard firing one after another from Serenity's base. And in the other side of the horizon, a mix of blue, purple, red, and green flares of sparks would gather as a result from the training of Harmonix members. |

Cinder walked through a long desert, slowly, carefully, She was heading towards a town, one of the Harmonix ones, to help out in preperations. Her twin swords swinged on her back, and her feet cmade echoes in the empty wasteland. Her eyes were wary and cautious as she saw the small village. Many Harmonix people were making weapons, armor and training. She had enrolled here to be a teacher of fighting. And surprisingly, she was a bit excited, She ran over to the big house which supposedly was the main house. "Hello." The Elder said cheerfully. He looked down at his huge stack of papers. "And you must be...Cinder am I correct?" "Yes sir." Cinder replied seriously, not showing any sign of expression. "Well I hope you can wip them up to shape for this part of the war." "I will sir." She replied quickly. "Good, good. You can find the training grounds easily. Oh and good luck!" He yelled as she exited the building. Ah there they were. They were teenagers like her, but looked more delicate and fragile. They were of balanced and didn't have control She sighed. It was going to be a long training session. Between two powers, in the no-man's land of this war, among the ruins of once functioning cities there were many abandoned Serenity bunkers. Places where the soldiers would stop and rest or wait for an impending battle. The older ones were generally worn down so heavily, at least on the outside, that they blended in with the ruins. These bunkers, or temporary havens, were generally seen as safe places to hole up in if you had nowhere else to go. One bunker however was unique in that it had become the home of experiments and the scientist that performed them. Experiments performed on the Harmonix. It was always a common occurance for Harmonix to disappear, especially if they left Veldin. But it wasn't a common occurance to have them return. When the first experiment returned, that was when the rumours started. The young energy creating girl, that's how she was remembered now, was what started talk of this fellow who she could only tell the name of, Six. She couldn't describe him, she never saw him. His voice was clearly modulated the entire time he "tested her abilities", as he had described it. Six's bunker was surprisingly close to Veldin. He was just beyond the horizon so he could slip out when he had to without being spotted by the Harmonix. His bunker was among some very old ruins as well which made people quicker to regard it as simply another ruin. What was treated as a ruin though was actually an entire underground complex with advanced electronic systems, multiple rooms, various tunnels, escape routes, and even a small vehicle bay used by trusted Serenity associates. The walls of the complex were reinforced steel and most of the complex was underground. In the center of the complex was a small rectangular room attached to a square room which were separated by a sheet of incredibly strong one-sided glass. The glass could withstand and absorb most forces, besides perhaps a very skilled Harmonix during one of their "powerful phases". Inside the smaller rectangular room, a filthy looking young man garbed in grey attire sat at a desk in a worn leather office chair. His bare feet pressed against the edge of the desk with his knees bent. His arms rested on his knees and between them he held a sheet of paper by the sides. This figure, the scientist, Six, appeared to be reading over his latest findings in his latest experiment, an experiment in progress. When he was done reading each block of recordings he would look up from his paper through the glass. In the center of that square room there was another young man bound to a steel table that was bolted to the floor. The man had a black bag thrown over his head and tied at his neck. At the front of the bag, a small hole allowed air, quietly pumped in from the outside world, to flow into his nostrils so he could breathe. The man occasionally made a sound, but it was muffled as he was gagged underneath the black bag. "MMMMMRRRRRR!" the man yelled at his captor who was again reading on the other side of the glass. "Could you keep it down please? I'm trying to read the results of our last test here." Six responded through a voice-modulator. Showing indignance to the response the man tried to force himself out of his binds, but after trying in vain for several minutes he collapsed back against the table exhausted. "For such strange creatures with such mind-boggling abilities, you Harmonix are terribly foolish. The last seven times you did that it hurt you and you know for a fact that it got you nowhere. Even if you did get a binding the slightest bit loose, I would know and I would fix it. So, can you try to be the least bit intelligent?" There was a moment of silence after Six chastised the man before something that sounded sort of like a sigh came from the square room. "Good. Our next test will occur when you have really settled down. You need to be able to focus for me to get any good findings. Would you like me to get you anything while I'm gone? Beer, chips, a chocolate bar?" There was no response from the square room as Six walked out of the observation room, through a creaky metal door and into his lounging area that had cupboards, a fridge, a couch and such to make life in the desert a bit more bearable. From one of the cupboards Six grabbed a bag of potato chips that was among sickening amounts of junkfood. He walked over to the dusty old couch and sat down crosslegged. As he opened the bag his experiment started to struggle again, but the sound was soon drowned out to Six by the crunch of chips in his mouth. As he ate, Six stared blankly at the empty wall across from him, apathetic to the experiment's futile attempt to escape. Edited by psy, July 10, 2010, 11:03 pm.

For days Cinder would train these boys, and for days they would only get the tiniest bit better. Cinder was not famous for patience, and each day she called it as "wasted", the more she got irritated. One morning, while she was teaching one of the boys to hold a tiny knife, she felt an urge to turn around. So she did. But no one was there. She was starting to scare herself. "Am I going nuts?" She mumbled, continuing to teach the boy. But than she got the urge again and she couldn't help but turn around. Still, no one was there. "Next test.." Words drifted in to her mind sharp and clear and when she tried to hold them, they slipped away. What was that? She thought surprised. Next test. A tap on her shoulder made her turn around growling,"WHAT?" The boy jumped back and apologized quietly. "Sorry you were spacing out and I was going to ask if you were ok." Cinder sighed and rubbed her forehead. "Yes, Yes I'm fine. Do what I taught you and I will see if you have any luck doing anything." She knew she was being hard on these poor boys but she wasn't going to let Serenity do anything to anyone. Never. That night as she tried to sleep under a desert tree, looking at the stars and moon, she kept wondering what those words meant. She couldn't help it. It never happened to her before. Next test..."That's it!" She yelled bonking her head on a low branch. "Ow..." She mumbled rubbing her head. Tests. Serenity. Someone was taking tests in Serenity. Her curiousity enabled her to figure it out. She ran over to the Elder's house and knocked the door. She heard loud footsteps and the Elder, a old looking man came to the door. "What is it Cinder?" He asked a bit surprised. "I'm going to a Serenity base." "WHAT?" He yelled, almost dropping the candle in his hand. "That's commiting suicide!" "Well, I don't have much to do except train these bad pupils all day. I'm going to figure out something." His eyebrows showed a look a concern and he sighed. "Fine, wait just a second." He whispered exiting for a bit. He came back with a map. "Here. This is the way to the base. Be careful." CInder laughed. "I'll try. But don;t worry about me. Ill go to their place at 11:30 A.M. By the time I get into the front gates it will be 12:00 and I will have an hour of safe time." "Ok..Good Night and goo luck Cinder." "Thanks and you too." Cinder took the map excited. It was a stupid idea, just two words, but she felt she must investigate. |

In the distance, from the center of Veldin, a mysterious figure stands. With a scarf flowing in the wind, his silhouette seemed to bring an anonymous chill of cold air towards the small crowd of people nearby that we're playing horseshoes. "Who's that?" whispered an old man to another man. "I don't know" the man responded. The townsfolk thought it was another one of the Serenity soldiers. "Maybe if we don't mind him, he'll just pass" murmured one of the women in the area. That's exactly what J did. An average guy, about the height of 5'8''. He passed the crowd and proceeded to go to his house. A small house about the size of a small garage. It was reinforced with steel along the sides. J quietly walked in and took a drink of water. He spit a small amount of it out because the water had small traces of sand in it, and possibly, radiation also. Feeling bored, he took out a small wooden block and placed it in an upright position. In a second's pass, a loud boom was heard in his area. From his fingers to the wooden block, a clean hole went through the middle. J had just shot out lightning from his fingers. Now because this is very dangerous, J was thrown back from the force and hit his shoulders on the steel wall of his house. He winced from the pain of his shoulder, but soon it was gone from the moment it hurt. J was already used to this kind of pain, because ever since stepping foot into Veldin, he went through intensive training everyday by himself to control his power. When J recovered and stood up, an old man was at his door, looking concerned about J. It seems that his little training session has attracted nearby people. "Please, young fellow, don't keep hurting yourself. We might not live long enough to take care of the young" the old man said. J remain silent and stood still. He thought to himself why would the elders try to make him to look after the young, when he can barely look after himself. A few minutes passed and he walked outside, without saying a word. The people of Veldin value J as much as they value the Elder. J does not know why they always try to make him feel like an important person in Veldin. The people think of J as a guardian, they frequently come to J for help. For the 6 months that J has been living in Veldin, he was welcomed by open arms for the first time, by anyone. What troubled J is that, he acts too solitary and bitter to accept the help of the people. He loves to start up mindless trouble. Just the other day, he got into a fight with a strong muscular pinhead that owns a blacksmith shop. From outside, he ignored the people and walked further. Nearly reaching the outside of Veldin, he took a quick walk circling the eastern side of Veldin and then sat down on a nearby bench. |

On her way out, CInder passed by a boy on a bench, sitting there, looking maybe bored, and a little irritated, She cocked her head to the side a bit, wondering who it was. I need to go...drifted into her mind but she slapped it away. She walked closer to him. "Who might you be? I haven't seen you before...Hey are you J? I haven't really listened to what people said about you, and excuse me for doing so haha, but I heard you were coming soon..Im right right? Nice to meet you. I heard you can do electricity. I'm an expert at fire." I smiled warmly, trying to make a friend. I might need one someday. |

Once Six had finished the bag of chips and the noise from the adjacent room had ceased he got up from the couch. His posture was absolutely appalling as he walked over to another metal door that connected the lounge with the experimentation room. The door had six complex locks on it, all involved solving a random puzzle that would appear on the touch screen after a button was pressed. Six solved them all incredibly quickly and the each lock clicked open. Six swung the door open and looked at his experiment laying on the table, who had tilted his head to the side to look in Six's direction even though he could not see. When the door closed behind Six the same aparatus was on the other side of the door. The door could be unlocked from either side, but both required you to solve random, complex puzzles. "Are we calm now, Marcus? If so, we will go over the results of our testing so far. You've been a big help to me you know. You've lasted longer than any other subject. It is our six month anniversary tomorrow. I really must pick out a present for you. That aside, let me share what I've learned with you so that when I do release you you can expell this belief that what you Harmonix do is "magic". When I first took you in as an experiment you were able to throw ice at me that you "created". After a month of desperation you could project the ice at me without having to touch it and you could form the ice without having to look at the liquid you were "molding". After another month you were able to form ice from your own saliva. Two more months forward, you could form it from your own blood. The real fun came a month later when you started forming it from my blood. So you see Marcus, look how far I have brought your abilies." "Don't get too excited as I learned much from you. Your people in Veldin, they see what you do as "magic". That's not what it is though, you Harmonix have a stimuli in you that allows you to alter energy around molecules. Remember basic chemistry? When a water molecule slows down they move less rapidly. When the appropriate amount of energy is removed or dispersed the liquid will freeze to form ice. That's what you do. When we tried to make you increase the energy in the molecules though you couldn't do it. You're a taker Harmonix as I've named them. The fire users, lightning users, they're all givers. But I've gone off on a tangent. What I'm saying is that it's not magic, it's science. As such, I can reinvent it through science, that is easy enough. Serenity already has scientists working around the clock to reinvent your "magic"." "What I am trying to do is single out the energy manipulation part of your brain that allows you to do this at will. Once I find that I can recreate it in the lab. Then the fun starts. Imagine for a moment, a new, better super soldier. Not those brutes we have now. No, these soldiers will be a new breed. We will take a soldier, one with some mental aptitude, train him in energy manipulating weapons. Much like the SE-1 I shot you with when I first found you. We will then implant the ability to alter energy into him. He will be a deadlier you. It gets better. If I can recreate the part that allows you to do what you do and remove the restriction of being a taker, just imagine the possibilities. A soldier that can create fire, lightning, ice, etcetera at will. Brilliant, isn't it." By the time Six had finished his little story Marcus had worked up a cold, fearful sweat. What scared him the most was that he knew that eventually Six would do what he said. When Six said to him that he would create a device that could isolate a liquid, freeze it, and then propel it, he did. The device had been faulty of course but within a week Six had it working as good as was needed to prove his point. Marcus was ashamed that he had survived for so long, his unwillingness to just die had taught Six that much. With each day it seemed Six learned something new. As had happened many times before, Marcus contemplated the idea of killing himself right here. Only a few minutes passed, but then Marcus told himself that if he died, Six would simply take another and his research would go on. The next person could be one of the young ones, a friend of his, even one of his family members. Edited by psy, July 11, 2010, 6:39 pm.

Kim Sand was soft and gave way easily underfoot, it gave little traction and it's easy to stumble on its surface. Kim was still getting used to this in her daily life here. Sure, she'd walked the desert, moved a while ago, but after traveling on ground much sturdier for the majority of life, she still stumbled every now and then. Yes, she had gotten used walking on sand and was better at it now than she used to be, but sand wasn't exactly predictable. Kim walked the sandy streets aimlessly. She had started doing this mostly for the fresh air and exercise. When was the last time she'd actually talked to someone other than the normal "Hello"? Staying in one place didn't suit her, it gave her nothing to do, but there were others like her here. This was the heart and haven for Harmonix, it was where she belonged. Yet she was still trapped behind the thick walls of boredom. The reason was plain and simple, she didn't know what to do with herself. She walked herself all the way to the eastern side, where she spotted a girl and a man that she had seen around. The girl was younger, but taller than Kim and seemed to be trying to talk to the man. She didn't know the man's name or anything about him, but from what she'd seen of him he didn't seem too social. Of course, this was a little presumptuousness of Kim, after all she knew nothing about this man. She didn't know anything about anyone, she knew some faces and some names but that was it. Kim paused for a moment, should she go try and talk to them or just continue on with her walk? It was a question that made her linger for just a bit longer. |

Cinder sighed, failing to talk to J, as she turned around to start her journey. A sound stopped her in her tracks. Her eyes pulled her body all the way around as she spotted a girl shorter than her, but with a look of boredom surrounding her atmosphere. Cinder cocked her head a bit wondering if it was ok to talk to her. She almost glared at J knowing her failure. Maybe a girl would be easier. She slowly walked up to the girl cautiously and looked her up and down before smiling. "Um...and who might you be? I don't think I've seen you around." Some sand blew by Cinder's face and she watched the grains pass by. 3...7...9..36 of them. |

Scintillating Sinner
|
Hues the color of water peered out past ebony, curled lashes. The deep gaze set upon each member of Veldin as if they were a threat. These hues of sapphire analyzed each patron of the town. They studied and broke down each movement made and then filed away the information for another time, when the occasion called for the knowledge. This is what she did. Illyeria Druth read people. She viewed each as a threat incase the war ever divided them. This was what she had been taught by her father, before the war spilled into their household. You could only ever trust that everyone would lookout for themselves and themselves only. Full lips pressed into a thin, even line. Hair the color of new fallen snow shuddered about slender shoulders, to the gentle caress of the wind. She tilted her head to the side, eyes momentarily closing at the peace in which the air brought. She would have preferred to be within the calming grasp of water; but there had only been one hidden, small lake on the outskirts of the town. Today, she couldn’t visit it, at least not at the time being. There were newcomers in the town; Illyeria didn’t trust that something wouldn’t happen in her absence. “I heard you can do Electricity, I am an expert at Fire.” Came the voice of one of the newer members of Veldin; an even newer member to the Harmonix. Illyeria raised a dark, slate gaze towards the female who had directed the comment towards J. J hadn’t been new, but he hadn’t been an original member of the town. However, she knew of him and had had more than a few conversations with him. She flicked a gaze along the young females figure; eyes disapproving. Illyeria’s hues rarely stuck to one single color, they were as if they were drops of water themselves; color changing with the slightest disruption. She stood abrupt then, body already forming to the knew stance. She’d been resting against the side of a dirt building, staying out of sight. Now, she no longer wanted to go unnoticed. Taking a step forward, her hips swayed to some inner tune; a mesh of blue, grey and black melos scarves were belted around her waist to form an improvised bodice and skirt, that alternately molded to and slithered away from her skin. The scarves rippled with the softest sift of air. Lips curled upward into the edge of a smile, eyes directed upon J himself. She ignored the female who had so obviously failed striking up a conversation with him, due to her sideways glare. She twisted up to him, twirling so that she sat next to him upon the bench; body curling inward towards his. She pressed her left hand upon his inner thigh, smile widening in pure amusement as she flashed a single dismissing glance towards Cinder. “J, darling. How are you?” She asked, voice like poisoned chocolate, both deceptively smooth and sweet. |

Cinder's eyes lowly watched the lady that was pissing her off. The lady was purely acting like Cinder was a child, and Cinder blew air out her nose a bit furious. Using her self control however, she glared at the lady before backing up a bit and looking at the map, making sure not to burn it with her higher body temperature. The map wasn't hard to decode, and her eyes went over it excitedly, happily, as she saw the way to Serenity. Grasping to only two words, she gave J a sideways glance before almost burning the lady next. She smiled a little sweetly showing the lady she was throughly angry, and that was dangerous for Cinder since she had control of fire, but she walked on head high, the map rolled up in her pocket. Her bare feet felt good against the sand floor as she walked out of the cover of town. She looked at it, scanned it over, feeling a little longing to stay and train the little buggers but she looked away and kept walking. The sand kept getting caught in her watering eyes, as she walked for maybe a couple hours now. She could see the map fairly clearly, and Cinder blessed her good eyes sight and photographic memory just in case she happened to lose it, damage it, or have to much sand to even see it. Her hands felt the old, yellow paper as dry as the desert itself and wondered why she could smell danger. Her eyes scanned the horizon and there she saw it. It was small but she could see it there and she knew she was close to Serenity. Bracing herself for what there was to come, she slowly breathed out and started walking closer, feeling knots twirl around in her stomach. |
