Firstly I would like to thank Andy Wilders and Christine for making me welcome, Andy and I finally met up in the Cherry Tree amid slight confussion as to whether my phone was actually working fcuking mobiles I met some like minded people yesterday and unexpected very friendly people who all made me welcome. The speeches came very close to my heart and a lot was said that has meaning and should be listened to on a wider scale. Sadly the first minute silence was marred by over enthuisiastic cocks, probably fueled by beer rather than actuall beliefs. This is my opinion and my opinion only, on a whole the majority of people in attendence were 100% EDL but again sadly there seemed to be a large elliment of people there intent on trouble or there for the trouble if it kicked off. I see no need to hide your face if you believe in something or to portray an image for the police and press that you are some kind of criminal and must not be seen, it does nothing for the EDL image. 2 things which made me very angry was a gentleman who was so drunk while the second minute silence was being held that he had to be prompted by a marshall that he should hold up his 2 fingers rather than the nazi salute he was holding. Admittedly he was wasted and even struggled to hold up the own weight of his arm. While an EDL Angel was delivering Her speech another drunk gentleman next to me shouted out 'Kill a pakistani' and had to be prompted by another EDL member that he should actually listen to the speeches, twat becuase next to us was a gentleman of Asian descent, who he proceeded to cuddle and say sorry etc etc etc. No excuse, drunk or not but ffs, does not do the EDL any good. Me, if I was on the end of that, I would of kicked his knees away from under him, especially when he kept cuddling him and being his best friend, made up or not, the intent and malice was still there. I cannot wait to go to Luton and hopefully meet some more liked minded, lateral thinking people. Thank you to all I met yesterday for making me welcome, thank you for the speeches that made sense to me and gave me more to think about. Regards Sean. |

Obviously it was your first demo, but I do think you're concentrating too much on a couple of small negatives. When the minutes silence was disrupted the crowd reacted, but compared to past demos the crowd was restrained and trouble was quelled by the EDL itself. Other than that there was no trouble from what I saw apart from Asians kicking off with police in one of their areas. Drunks, yes they do exist, and as with any working class gathering you will get a small number of these people. The EDL has evolved to such an extent that as you stated it is sorted out in house, again apart from the original behaviour I don't see a problem, he apologised and will prob learn from it. People hide their faces because some have a lot to lose and are taking a risk even being there, they are patriots who are sticking their necks out, not criminals |
