Got up nice and early got to brum for the 8.22am train,as i was told edl would be on this, nobody from edl, some edl got on at nunny and leicester. How anyone can drink that early is beyond me. Walked the 15 min or so to the pub we where directed to by old bill ,bumped in to daz on the way ,overheard telling someone his name and from amsterdam, intro myself ,very nice bloke whos dedication to the cause is brilliant. When we got to the pub i was met with the site of some fcuking pissed up idiot who thought it funny to keep laughing ang pointing, lucky he didnt get a fcuking good slap there and then. Went out the back where i stood on my own like billy no mates, then was chatting to daz, good atmosphere bbq on the go,then i started hearing what i can only assume is the usual rumour mill, muzzies are bringing petrol bombs was a popular one, loads of em coming from bradford was another. Daz introd me to clee who is again a sound bloke explained who i was and it being my first demo he said we going to the other pup in a sec i will intro you to the lads from your area, great i thought. By this time the atmosphere in the pub was a little more sinnister, dont know what it was might have just been in my head. Walking up the road to the next pub i was shocked some guy was filming us,dont know why just was, then a couple of eeedl chants went up ,great stuff, then came "if you burn a poppy we burn a mosque and i just wanted the ground to open up and swallow me,i got this tight pain in my chest and didnt feel right,in short i panicked,i diont know why maybe just first demo nerves and the build up coupling with getting there early. Not knowing anyone. Maybe if i had arrived with a division or guys i knew it might have been better for me,all i wanted to do was get back to the train station and get away,im ashamed of myself and it will be a long time before i can look at myself in the miorror again but thats my problem. Sorry clee and daz ,dont know what happened but i bottled it .You can all take the piss and call me a fanny i can take it,you can even delete my account if you want to ,but at least i got off my arse ,travelled alone instead of shoveling snow,i just dont know what i expected. Respect to all who attended the actual demo. |

Where are you from buddy? Like me ive never been to a demo because i roll with pc students so i have no friends who would go with me and this might sound strange but i am actually afraid. Perhaps if were close we can go together not be alone. ha sounds rather fruity don't you think? Edited by Tutaminis legio, Dec 11 2010, 05:51 PM.

Dudley mate, being trying to get in touch for a while to no avail,i aint got loads of facebook keyboard warriors on my profile ,seems to count for some strange reason. I am pissed of with myself,i have never been a bottler,i served in the army, stood back to back and scrapped at football matches,it was just the fear of the unkown i hope. Maybe at 42 im past it,the fact that no mussies where around didnt help,i know it sounds daft but at least i would have had a enemy to spur me on,it was like a normal sunday in the beer garden. At least i giot to put a few quid in the soldiers collection bucket. The strange thing is i put myself in more danger walking past the scum and town center on my own back to the train. |

I wouldn't worry about it. I went to Dudley on my own, heard some unpleasant remarks from a few idiots and realised I didn't want to get kettled in for the day. Managed to get out of the demo area and walked back through Dudley getting evils from a few people. Went to the Leicester one and it was all much more civilised. I didn't meet anyone off here though - or maybe I did - but it didn't matter. Plenty of friendly people there, a few drinks, a sing-song and back home in time for tea. I think you anticipated trouble (pre-conceptions?) and didn't like some of the things you heard. You can and you can't justify them. But I'll go to others in the new year. If nothing else it's important for rational people to attend and witness these events. |

Well done for putting the effort in mate, I am yet to attend a demo myself and I'm slightly nervous about attending my 1st demo. Its only human to be nervous about it, The next demo you attend go with your local division it will be alot easier and more enjoyable. Like I said and many others give yourself a pat on the back for making the effort, next time just stick it out mate

You went, you saw, something happened to prevent you fom staying. I think you did well, you took the bull by the horns and set out on your own so well done for that. You don't deserve savage criticism, I'd still be happy to give you a pat on the back. You'd probably find it helpful to hook up with someone prior to the next demo and, once you'vs a good demo experience behind you, there'll be no holding you back! Well done for what you managed to do. |

Hi Christine, great to meet you today. Sorry I couldn't be more sociable, I was busy. EP, I wouldn't kick yourself too much, if you have never been before it can appear to be quite intimidating or threatening. As has been said, best to go with somebody who knows the score next time. Once you have been to a few you're pretty much a veteran. Anybody who hasn't been before, get yourself along it is something to be experienced as well as it being for a very worthy cause. Oh and it's a good job you got away from that Clee, he woulda got you locked up.
