http://www.secularism.org.uk/euro-ministers-drop-proposals-to.html Of course, the truth is that the establishment do not want the general public to realise just how many muslims there are in Europe. Such labelling would make it clear that we are being fed halal meat on a mass scale. Remember, they are also abolishing the Census after 2011. And not just in Britain. EDL needs to work with NSS on this. Let's forget banning halal meat. Let's insist that nowhere can it be sold without it being marked. We can work with Sikhs on this too. Getting it banned can be a later step. If NSS don't want to support us on getting it banned, that's their business. Let them deal with their conscience. |

Does this not fall into the laws on religious intollerance? If you have no choice (because the food is not labled) you are being forced to break your own religion's rules (Christian / Jewish ... not sure about some of the others) on food. It also means that I am being forced to comply with a forign religious practice against my will. We do not force our prisoners or school kids to attend religious services against their will! If it is not labled as Hallal is it wrong to "contaminate" it by bringing it into contact with pork? If large chainstores are regularly "contaminated" by this method would muslims use it for their meat shopping? |

Without a shadow of a doubt our human rights are being violated. But until someone takes a legal action nothing will happen. Now if we had the £53 million that the government gives to any muslim group that is not distributing bomb-making literature... |

Why was Kosher included in the title? Kosher is not mainstream. You only find Kosher in a Kosher butchers in a Jewish community. For me its not easy to find because of where I live. Halal is mainstream in major fast food outlets, Kosher isn't. |

The plan was to label all religiously slaughtered meat, so as not to be seen to be discriminating against muslims, as the slaughter methods are similar. i.e. without stunning. |

Why drop it? It was a good idea. Well, we all know why they dropped the plans, I guess. |

i think we need to agree on common ground that meat needs to be labelled kosher or halal. the earlier isnt really an issue because you will not see kosher in supermarkets. This is in fact a good place to start push discrimination law the other way, it s discriminates aginst non-moslims .... therefore it is against the law to do this .. we really need some legal minds on the EDL now, the organisation has reach the point where it needs to fight things in court .... I bet we could take this to the courts and win ... human right laws eh .. they may just work in our favour here ... |

Go to Morrisons or check your local butcher, and no more friday night take-aways because it will most certainly be halal you are scarfing down ya throats. Time to get back to basics; learn to cook, store, freeze. Personally im with the camp that thinks it is wrong not to label all and any of the food clearly. If we as a nation didn't hunger for fast food. Do you think halal would be such a big problem? The answer to that is NO. Peace Ste |

Ok. Tmora afternoon im going asda to do the weeks shopping. I am going to customer services first. My question will be, how much of the meat on sale is halal. If we all did this and refused to buy anything halal the feedback might cause a rethink on this issue. And as for my beloved Chinese takeaway this might take a while coz i cant understand anything other than 15 mins sir.(lol) |

I've done a similar thing on a couple of occasions, but with one BIG difference. Do your all your shopping, loading the meat products onto the conveyer belt at the end THEN ask about the halal question as the meat approaches the checkout. If you don't a satisfactory answer, leave all the meat unchecked, that way they have to be pretty quick to put it back where it belongs or they'll have no choice but to chuck it. Put them at an inconvenience. |
