Staffordshire’s faith leaders unite over Mosque attack

Leaders from faiths across Stoke-on-Trent are to march together in protest against the attack on Hanley Mosque.

They will be joining together at the Muslim Welfare & Community Association, Hanley, at 2pm tomorrow (December 10) where they will be marching to the site of the mosque fire.

They hope it will show unity and solidarity after the attack which has caused unease.

Lloyd Cooke, chief executive of the Saltbox Christian centre, said: “We are deeply concerned at this recent event.

“We want to meet together as a sign of support and unity and to affirm that an attack on one faith is an attack on all.”

Gavin Drake, communications director of Lichfield Diocese, said: “Any attack on any centre of faith is unjust. There’s a strong bond of friendship between the faith communities.

“This isn’t the first time we’ve joined together in solidarity. All the faith leaders from the community joined together when the EDL were present in Hanley – urging people to stay calm.

“It’s not a march, but a sign of solidarity of all the faiths.”

Three of four youths previously arrested in connection with the attack have been released on bail.

A fourth youth, aged 16, was released without further action.

Staffordshire Police continue their investigation into the attack

Unbelievable, I can't believe that the other faith leaders have no idea of what is happening to people of their faiths, at the hands of Islam, around the world.

No racist or hate agenda has been proven in this case, whatever happened to innocent until proven guilty in the case of the individuals accused ?

They have their eads buried so far up their own PC arses, it's no wonder that they cannot comprehend why their own particular flavours of salvation are losing worshippers from their congregations.

Aye, and unless we reverse the islamisation of our country we'll be reading:

"Staffordshire’s faith leaders united in death by islam"

If a Christian Church was attacked instead of the Mosque, would this Muslim association care? Would they be uniting with other faith groups? I doubt it. They only care about their own.

Also, if it was a Christian Church that was attacked, would it get as much attention as what the Mosque has got? Probably not.

Were any of the arrested part of EDL?

I suspect not .... otherwise it would have been shouted out from the minaret tops!

Maybe we should send them (all) an open letter saying that whilst we do not wish to see any more Mosques we do not condone this action, and that we would be willing to march with them but feel our motives could be misconstrued!
