Hi,
You all know that hindus, sikhs (those without the turban), jains look like muslims as they have same body color (typically brown, not white nor black)...I am an hindu (Indian) and if i visited a center of yours how will you identify me that i am a hindu and not a muslim? I mean i dont look exactly as them as i dont have long beard, i dont wear a white hat like muslims or have any other similarities. The only one is the body color. How do you all exactly identify that he is a muslim and he is a hindu, jains etc...etc...

Thanks for reading!

chrisdu.i think you are in india.you might be confused about britain.
you wouldnt get attacked in a shopping centre because people thought you were a muslim.
if you were standing opposite us on a demo shouting abuse at us and sticking up for terroists.you would get abuse if you were white black brown or obama himself.and rightly so

I would hope that even a muslim woman in a burka would be welcomed, provided she wrapped an England flag round her shoulders.

Mind you, since the Police actually ban all face-coverings (including burkas) on the days when there are EDL demos, she would create an interesting conundrum for the police.

Be great if she sued them for religious hatred because they made her remove the England flag or the burka. I'd love to see them snatch her burka off her head, the way they have done with non-muslim women in EDL who have turned up to demos wearing burkas.

What to do if you look like a Muslim?

Nothing at all, to most of us looks don't even figure, it's what you do and say.

Islam is NOT a race. It is an ideology/religion dedicated to world domination. "Racism" is a cheap shot that Islamists use to attack those who oppose them. The media use it as a sledgehammer to attack the EDL.

I happen to be as dark as many middle-eastern Muslims, and I sometimes get asked if I am Lebanese. In reality, I am mostly European, but I have some American Indian ancestry and one of my ancestors was a black slave woman who escaped to freedom in the 1800s. (I am fookin' PROUD to be descended from such as gutsy woman. Although I do not "look" black I am honoured to count her among my ancestors.)

This is why the claims of racism against the EDL are PURE ROT! Look up pictures of Bosnian Muslims, African Muslims and Chinese Muslims. They range from blue-eyed blonds to blue-black Africans. The EDL membership has black and brown members, including Hindus, Sihks and Caribbeans, and would have more, I am sure, if the "racism" slur were not being constantly being used to slander the EDL.

By the way, I am also gay, and I have NEVER been attacked or insulted by EDL members. The EDL has a Gay and Lesbian Section and a Jewish Section. I have seen non-Jewish EDL members who are 100% straight holding up signs denouncing homophobia and also carrying the flag of Israel. Islam, on the other hand, is one of the most murderously homophobic ideologies on earth. It is also one of the most anti-semitic, teaching their children that Jews are "apes and pigs".

It is NOT a question of race or colour. It is a question of democracy fighting for its values.

I can understand your problem. For myself, when I worked in the Middle East for about ten years I worked with many different nationalities eg Egyptian, Pakistani, Indian, Palestinian as well as Gulf Arabs etc. After a while I was able to pick out who was who just by looking at them. There are definite and different physical features between the nationalities.

However, the problem in England is that very few people have that experience. I would suggest that you make yourself known to the EDL and join the demos if you feel strongly about the issues. I have no doubt you will be made welcome. It won't matter if you are Hindu, Sikh, black, white or purple with green polka dots. (Though you might get a few funny looks if you're purple with green polka dots!)

Its very simple be very nice to everybody until you know them, if they are nice continue being nice if not kick them into touch. Its not the persons race colour or religion that is important it is the person. A bloke I have met this week I think he is a muslim he is friendly and helpfull so I return the complement.

As far as I am concerned, the only civilised option out of this mess is for muslims to start putting loyalty to this country and its laws above loyalty to islam and above loyalty to muslims in Somalia and Palestine and Pakistan.

If burkas are made illegal (and I hope they are), then the kind of loyal, law-abiding muslim I envisage would cease wearing the burka. They might even give it up before it becomes illegal.

But if a woman in a burka & draped in an England flag is not allowed to protest against islamic extremism, then come out and admit it -- you just want EDL to be opposed to all of islam and practising muslims. The tube bombers did not wear burkas. Would you ban anyone who even looks muslim, as the original poster asked?

I see no problem with MDL saying that they were wrong, and that they want to support EDL and oppose islamic extremists. Even Choudary can turn round and sing "Mohammed was a paedo" for all I care.

Perhaps you are just the kind of person who hates all jews and all muslims.

I've said this on another thread but this is one of the key issues with the edl. What are the policy demands? Or is it just 'raising awareness'? Tommy said on bbc he wants islamic immigration banned. I support that in principal but not sure how it would be done in practice. Next interview he may be asked to elaborate

As far as I am aware the "ban the burka" stance is a response to the Islamic insistance on the burka as a means of subjugating women!
If someone wearing the burka is protesting against the reigeme that forces her to wear it .... she would have my support!
If Islam were to respect the laws of this country instead of trying to replace them with their own laws ...... I suspect the wearing of the burka would not be an issue!

THE CANADIAN CONTENT APPEARS AT THE END OF THE ARTICLE AND IS MEANINGFUL TO SAY THE LEAST.

This pilot 'hit the nail' right on the head in his open letter.

The paper stated that some Muslim doctor is saying we are profiling him because he has been checked three times while getting on an airplane

The following is a letter from a pilot.
This well spoken man, who is a pilot with American Airlines, says what is in his heart, beautifully....

Read, absorb and pass this on.

'YOU WORRY ME!'

By American Airlines Pilot - Captain John Maniscalco

I've been trying to say this since 911, but you worry me. I wish you didn't. I wish when I walked down the streets of this country that I love, that your color and culture still blended with the beautiful human landscape we enjoy in this country. But you don't blend in anymore. I notice you, and it worries me.

I notice you because I can't help it anymore. People from your homelands, professing to be Muslims, have been attacking and killing my fellow citizens and our friends for more than 20 years now. I don't fully understand their grievances and hate, but I know that nothing can justify the inhumanity of their attacks.

On September 11, ARAB-MUSLIMS hijacked four jetliners in my country. They cut the throats of women in front of children and brutally stabbed to death others. They took control of those planes and crashed them into buildings killing thousands of proud fathers, loving sons, wise grandparents, elegant daughters, best friends, favorite coaches, fearless public servants, and children's mothers.
The Palestinians celebrated, the Iraqis were overjoyed as was most of the Arab world. So, I notice you now. I don't want to be worried. I don't want to be consumed by the same rage and hate and prejudice that has destroyed the soul of these terrorists But I need your help. As a rational American, trying to protect my country and family in an irrational and unsafe world, I must know how to tell the difference between you, and the Arab/Muslim terrorist.

How do I differentiate between the true Arab/Muslim Americans and the Arab/Muslim terrorists in our communities who are attending our schools, enjoying our parks, and living in OUR communities under the protection of OUR constitution, while they plot the next attack that will slaughter these same good neighbors and children?

The events of September 11th changed the answer. It is not my responsibility to determine which of you embraces our great country, with ALL of its religions, with ALL of its different citizens, with all of its faults. It is time for every Arab/Muslim in this country to determine it for me.
I want to know, I demand to know, and I have a right to know, whether or not you love America . Do you pledge allegiance to its flag? Do you proudly display it in front of your house, or on your car? Do you pray in your many daily prayers that Allah will bless this nation, that He will protect and prosper it? Or do you pray that Allah with destroy it in one of your Jihad's? Are you thankful for the freedom that only this nation affords? A freedom that was paid for by the blood of hundreds of thousands of patriots who gave their lives for this country? Are you willing to preserve this freedom by also paying the ultimate sacrifice? Do you love America ? If this is your commitment, then I need YOU to start letting ME know about it.

Your Muslim leaders in this nation should be flooding the media at this time with hard facts on your faith, and what hard actions you are taking as a community and as a religion to protect the United States of America . Please, no more benign overtures of regret for the death of the innocent because I worry about who you regard as innocent. No more benign overtures of condemnation for the unprovoked attacks because I worry about what is unprovoked to you. I am not interested in any more sympathy. I am only interested in action. What will you do for America - our great country - at this time of crisis, at this time of war?

I want to see Arab-Muslims waving the AMERICAN flag in the streets. I want to hear you chanting 'Allah Bless America ' I want to see young Arab/Muslim men enlisting in the military. I want to see a commitment of money, time, and emotion to the victims of this butchering and to this nation as a whole.

The FBI has a list of over 400 people they want to talk to regarding the WTC attack. Many of these people live and socialize right now in Muslim communities. You know them.

You know where they are. Hand them over to us, now! But I have seen little even approaching this sort of action. Instead I have seen an already closed and secretive community close even tighter. You have disappeared from the streets. You have posted armed security guards at your facilities. You have threatened lawsuits. You have screamed for protection from reprisals.

The very few Arab/Muslim representatives that HAVE appeared in the media were defensive and equivocating. They seemed more concerned with making sure that the
United States proves who was responsible before taking action. They seemed more concerned with protecting their fellow Muslims from violence directed towards them in the United States and abroad than they did with supporting our country and denouncing 'leaders' like Khadafi, Hussein, Farrakhan, and Arafat.

If the true teachings of Islam proclaim tolerance and peace and love for all people, then I want chapter and verse from the Koran and statements from popular Muslim leaders to back it up. What good is it if the teachings in the Koran are good, and pure, and true, when your 'leaders' are teaching fanatical interpretations, terrorism, and intolerance? It matters little how good Islam SHOULD BE if huge numbers of the world's Muslims interpret the teachings of Mohammed incorrectly and adhere to a degenerative form of the religion. A form that has been demonstrated to us over and over again. A form whose structure is built upon a foundation of violence, death, and suicide. A form whose members are recruited from the prisons around the world. A form whose members (some as young as five years old) are seen day after day, week in and week out, year after year, marching in the streets around the world, burning effigies of our presidents, burning the American flag, shooting weapons into the air. A form whose members convert from a peaceful religion, only to take up arms against the great United States of America, the country of their birth. A form whose rules are so twisted, that their traveling members refuse to show their faces at airport security checkpoints, in the name of Islam.

We will NEVER allow the attacks of September 11, or any others for that matter, to take away that which is so precious to us: Our rights under the greatest constitution in the world. I want to know where every Arab Muslim in this country stands and I think it is my right and the right of every true citizen of this country to demand it. A right paid for by the blood of thousands of my brothers and sisters who died protecting the very constitution that is protecting you and your family.
I am pleading with you to let me know. I want you here as my brother, my neighbor, my friend, as a fellow American. But there can be no gray areas or ambivalence regarding your allegiance,
and it is up to YOU, to show ME, where YOU stand. Until then.

'YOU WORRY ME!'

CANADIAN COMMENTS:

I totally agree with this sentiment. I hope you will forget all about the 'political correctness' mandate we've had rammed down our throats, and see if this doesn't ring true in your heart and mind. For Canada , with all the multiculturalism we've been told is so important....why should we not, as Canadians, expect that the millions of new people immigrating to our country will show their love for our country, their allegiance to our country, their willingness to obey the laws of our country, and acceptance that we are a Christian country? Just because they are able to enjoy exercising their own religion, they should not expect us to be ashamed of ours. They knew Canada was a Christian country when they came here. Why are we erasing Christianity because immigrants who are unwilling to adopt our way of life expect us to? There is just too much insanity in the world, and we have to start taking a stand.

I hope you will forward, so others will feel they are not alone if they are starting to feel the same.

THIS IS TOO GOOD TO JUST READ AND DELETE.... LET'S SATURATE NEW ZEALAND, AUSTRALIA , U.K. THE USA AND CANADA WITH THIS ONE!

It is very easy once you know the trick. Alot of english people think all brown people are the same. I can easily tell the difference between different arab nationalities. I do struggle to tell if someone is either Indian or Pakistani, if they arent clearly showing that they are muslim or say hindu. It is very difficult as they were once part of the same country.
Just on the burkha issue. I have always been opposed to it in any form with in a public space. On the only principle that it is un British. It is in contrast to our culture even in the cases were its through the womans choice. Only problem in banning it is that this would also go against the democratic and freedom aspects of our country. So bit of a conundrum there. The muslim women who choose to wear it would say "we are no different than a punk walking down the street in his wierd outfits". "That is more offensive to some than my Burkha."

However the reason I would find it acceptable to ban the burkha and not risk endangering any of the democracy and freedom we are all for, is the fundemental fact that the burkha is the covering of ones face. This poses many security threats for a start, it is intimidating, and is not British in the slightest, whether through choice or not. In this country we don't cover our faces when we walk down the street, plain and simple. What you do in your own home is your own business. But I believe there is a certain ettiquette (spelling?) we should follow within public spaces. Not Covering your face being just one of them
