The 39-year-old Australian denies allegations he sexually assaulted two women in Sweden.

Scotland Yard said Mr Assange was arrested on a European Arrest Warrant by appointment at a London police station at 0930 GMT.

He is due to appear at City of Westminster Magistrates' Court later.

Mr Assange is accused by the Swedish authorities of one count of unlawful coercion, two counts of sexual molestation and one count of rape, all alleged to have been committed in August 2010.

To be honest I have my doubts about the charges, but somehow I don't really care - he doesn't care about other people's lives being ruined by his traitorous actions.

On a European arrest warrant he can be extradited to Sweden without any appeal.

The authorities certainly want to get him, why wasn't the warrant issued at the time???
If he is a rapist, then he needs to be punished.

What the British government decide to do with him now will show their true colours. I suspect that they will suck up to the US and do whatever they're told.

his traitorous actions? isnt it the gvnts and their paid lackeys in the embassies who are the traitors?

the whole thing smells like a rotting kipper tho - both the leaks and the allegations/arrest

Meanwhile I hate all governments that much, that I understand what Wikileaks is good for.
However, I still have my doubts about who stands behind Wikileaks; Assange is either both very brave and complete nuts, or some kind of double agent.

Of course he's not the only traitor, but he's a traitor to the West and has put our troops in even more danger.

The release of nearly 400,000 classified Iraq war documents by whistleblowing website Wikileaks could endanger UK service personnel, the Ministry of Defence has said.

The leaked material suggests US commanders ignored evidence of torture by the Iraqi authorities.

The documents also suggest "hundreds" of civilians were killed at US military checkpoints after the invasion in 2003.

The MoD condemned "any un-authorised release of classified material".

from our government..that lied about WMD in Iraq and sent out troops to Afgan...

He hasnr said a word...just revealed what the US and politios were saying. Who sent out troops into a war we had no chance of winning unless we had conscription again and went nearly bankcrupt ?

lets see if the UK still believes in a law. Our press is free. Let them choose. Its not one man...many like him who believe that the hypocrisy should stop. I wish our politicos would tell us the truth...and yes we can take it.

Any way I think the Russians are more pissed off with him.

Our government is from the people. We people are not stupid.

Yeah, but you could say that about any spy. The troops would have been out long before any of this information came out, if he hadn't recklessly published it now. It's not the troops fault that they're there, and he hasn't done them any favours if you ask me.

My guess... Deported to Sweden, Then,,,,Next plane to America.

Whatever you individually think of his actions, The truth should be outed. If our brave warriors are losing life and limb in foreign country's on a lie concocted by b liar and bush we should know, I agree some of the info is liable to put soldiers at risk but no more than the risk of sending them in the first place.

The government would wish to encourage that he has put soldiers in danger. Gets the blame of them for a day or two.
Whistle blowers are an asset, we need them to uncover our eyes and ears from time to time.

conclusion== set up by America, to get their man.
There are those who sit and await their fate,
others stand against this hate,
NO SURRENDER we all shout,
lets get this bloody ISLAM out.

I tend to agree, he and his organisation from the outset has had a very anti west pro islam agenda. If america get their hands on him, he isnt going to see the light of day for a while.
