http://www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepage/news/3263540/SAS-hit-squads-at-UKs-malls.html By ANTHONY FRANCE, DAVID WILLETTS and DUNCAN LARCOMBE Published: Today Add a comment (18) SAS hit squads are today protecting packed shopping centres from terrorists - with orders to shoot to kill. The regiment's elite troops are poised to foil any al-Qaeda bid to cause Mumbai-style carnage amid Britain's Christmas crowds. The Who Dares Wins teams have instructions to strike hard and fast to combat the "real and credible" threat of a bomb-and-gun onslaught by fanatics. In peril ... shoppers on the packed streets of London and other major cities could provide a tempting target for al-Qaeda terrorists The crack SAS troops are equipped with weapons including high-velocity Minimi semi-automatic assault rifles, gas-loading pistols and stun grenades. Terror ... gunman in Mumbai Mumbai Mirror They have been briefed to "engage and neutralise" any terrorists as quickly as possible to minimise the chance of civilian deaths. They know the first 90 minutes are crucial to prevent the toll soaring. Blazing hotel ... in India, 2008 Getty The alert comes after growing fears that fanatics inspired by al-Qaeda plan a copy of the 2008 outrage in Mumbai, India. Commando-style gunmen and bombers killed 175 and wounded more than 300 in a terror rampage. Police stepped up security at shopping centres and airports across Britain over the weekend because of the fear of such an attack. The SAS were drafted in because of the potential threat to shoppers on the streets of London, Birmingham and other major cities. SAS ... elite squad protects us British police firearms teams - such as the Met's CO19 unit - are highly trained to deal with gunmen who pose a threat. But SAS expertise would be needed to handle a large-scale terror incident. The Sun has revealed that civilian staff at the Met's three 999 emergency call centres have been briefed on how to deal with a "mass shooting". If the SAS are called into action, it will be their first operation launched on British soil since the Iranian Embassy siege in London in 1980. Five of six terrorists were killed and 19 hostages saved. Included C&P of Sun, article. Ruby. Edited by Ruby, Dec 7 2010, 10:35 AM.

If there is an attack, we have to mobilise quickly, ie within a few hours of an attack all make our way to nearest mosque and demand they come outside and apologise. We have to do this quickly.Literally drop what you are doing, as if you were a reservist life boat man, or retained firefighter. WD |

If you were to go anywhere near a mosque after/during an attack your feet wouldn't touch and you would probably find yourself on a jumped up charge under the terrorism act. The priority for the OB/government to protect would be islam. Oh, I've just passed 10,000 posts and have a beheading imminent!

No mate I disagree, any attack it should be left to the security services to deal with, no vigilante action should be undertaken, as Ruby says your feet wouldn't touch and in my opinion you would be adding to an immediate problem which the country would be facing, it could possibly be deemed an unpatriotic action I always take reports of the armed forces being deployed on the British mainland with a pinch of salt. Even with semi-credible rumours I have heard lately, soldiers on the streets would be a last resort for any British government, although I don't doubt that some of the armed forces have advised the police on response tactics |

They've got that wrong. The SAS were active in Northern Ireland until at least the late 1980s. |

This is part of the worry, and a fine indicator of our problems. We march, the government offer support to the muslim communities. Islamic atrocity committed, the government offer support to the muslim communities. What about us ? Try asking your MP for a nonsensical reply, only one set of people can be victims. |

It's possible they are being very legalistic in their speaking. The United Kingdom is made up of Great Britain and Northern Ireland. |

sounds a bit like a spooks episode i saw once. Im surprised there hasnt been an attack already, it really wouldnt take a lot of effort to get hold of a gun and shoot a load of people. It's worrying how easy it would be actually |

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2001_England_riots I think the next Terrorist Attack on our mainland will spark off riots agross the uk like we had in 2001, The attack in July 2005 (7/7) was one thing but we are now 9 years on and things have change, On this forum you guys saying when will jo public wake up, I think jo public are awake but it will only take one more attack to spark it off, As for the S.A.S they sorted out the Iranian Embassy siege in 1980 they were there in a very short time (by Helicopter) If there is another Terrorist Attack I don't think it will come from Afghanistan it will come from you now were |

The only reason that they dont depoert these people when they know about them is to try and gather intelligence from them. Its the only reason i can think of. |

Do you guys know which Mosque's are the most radical? I guess my question is, are there notorious Mosque's where it is known that terrorists have or do worship? Is the local community complacent? |

"The true Islamic concept of peace goes something like this:'Peace comes through submission to Muhammad and his concept of Allah'(i.e. Islam). As such the Islamic concept of peace, meaning making the whole world Muslim, is actually a mandate for war. It was inevitable and unavoidable that the conflict would eventually reach our borders, and so it has." - Vernon Richards Nizom, Novil, Ne'haveh Dugma VeNenaze'ah - We shall Innovate, Lead, Set an Example and Win. - My Paratrooper Unit Motto | |

If the 7/7 bombers had been captured that would be Dewsbury, Leeds and Aylesbury.... There are so many mosques it is hard to pinpoint which one's 'terrorists' worship at, simply because once it is realised it is usually too late, the damage has been done, the mosque is under new ownership, the radicals either in custody or expelled and the remaining extremists have moved elsewhere. Abdullah el-Faisal is a good example, he was ordered to leave Brixton Mosque, but simply moved to an Islamic centre in Tower Hamlets and continued to inspire British jihadis'. There are mosques which have been linked with radical Islam, such as Green Lane Mosque, East London Mosque or Finsbury Park Mosque, but whether they have radicals operating there now, who knows? |

I think it more than just in this day and age to shift the starting point of the question and assume that no mosque is whiter than white. I'd suggest this ought to be the question: Do you guys know which Mosque's are 100% trustworthy? |
