The mainly Islamic countries at the UN, helped by socialist ones such as Cuba, have voted to remove the clause protecting gays ; http://derrenbrown.co.uk/blog/2010/11/countries-vote-accept-execution-gays/#comments |
| Winston Churchill on Islam ; ' The fact that in Mohammedan law every woman must belong to some man as his absolute property, either as a child, a wife, or a concubine, must delay the final extinction of slavery until the faith of Islam has ceased to be a great power among men. Individual Moslems may show splendid qualities - but the influence of the religion paralyses the social development of those who follow it. No stronger retrograde force exists in the world.... | |

Unfortunately the only way to sort the mess of the world now is a world war. The problem with that is we no longer have a military to fight for us!!! |

Folks, you are just about the only people speaking up for gay people. I've never been in such a community of supportive people. You probably understand the context of my hatred for the media and the left. It was BluePanic who first alerted me to this move by the UN last week. I haven't seen any of the "liberal media" express any outrage. |

"But now sexual orientation has been taken out of the list. The amendment was supported by Benin in Africa on behalf of the African Group in the UN General Assembly. It passed on a narrow vote of 79 for, 70 against , 17 abstentions and 26 absent." How the fcuk do you abstain or remain absent on a vote as serious as that?? I get that some scummy countries think it's OK to persecute gays. They are retarded and evil. However, it's almost as bad to not turn up for the vote, isn't it?? Have we seen a definitive list of which countries voted for the amendment/ abstained or couldn't be arsed to turn up? If any of them are holiday destinations or food-producers, boycott them. We need to do whatever we can to bring this into the public eye. |

EDL = United by friendship regardless of race or colour. We may not see or speak to each other as much as we should , and we won't always agree on everything, but we WILL always pull together through thick and thin BECAUSE WE ARE FAMILY.

Yep. The world is splitting into 2 camps. Tensions are mounting. Something or other will kick off soon enough, and I can bet that Islam will have something to do with it. Whether it be Iran attacking Israel, or Muslims in France rioting big style. Or North Korea of course! |
|
"One ought never to turn one's back on a threatened danger and try to run away from it. If you do that, you will double the danger. But if you meet it promptly and without flinching, you will reduce the danger by half. Never run away from anything. Never!" "You have enemies? Good. That means you've stood up for something, sometime in your life." Winston Churchill

The UN has historically been victim to manipulation by blocs of nations. However it has traditionally been the West that has done the manipulating. This vote appears to be a coalition of Islamic and Christian countries with strong anti-gay policies and not just Muslim states (Nigeria has a huge Anglican following under the leadership of the Archbishop of Canterbury). By forming this alliance in commom cause they have succeeded in passing the most significant setback for gay rights in years and gaining, in essence, UN endorsement of their hateful and violent views on homosexuality. It also shows they are capable of threatening other civil rights that we in the west take for granted. How long will it be until women's rights are overturned, or children's? Like HS I had heard of the proposed vote, it has been briefly mentioned in the gay press and online. However the silence in the mainstream press and media since the vote is disturbing to say the least. I suspect most of the press think that gay rights as a news item is at best old news and at worst not worth reporting. As I type Radio4 is reporting on two "gay" vultures in a zoo in Germany who have been split up to force them to breed, and is reminding listeners of a similar story about "gay" penguins. This has caused a furore among gay rights activists who are protesting at the zoo. What does this say about both the media and gay protestors? I am hoping this vote will be a wakeup call to gay men showing them that our rights (which many young gays take for granted) have had to be fought for and still need to be defended. There is little discussion in the gay press on the subject of Islam, most criticism is of the Christian churches, especially the Catholic church. Islam is avoided, I suspect from fear of being seen as racist. I have been called many things in my life but being labelled "racist" is the most insulting and inaccurate, though that is what I have become in the minds of many friends (some "ex") since my support for the EDL has become general knowledge. It took a surprisingly long time for the majority of the gay community to recognise the threat the was (and still is) HIV. It seems that history is repeating itself in their failure to acknowledge that Islam is moblising and (clearly) forming alliances to extend their persecution of men like me. |

Here is some more info on it from an Outrage/Peter Tatchell e-newsletter ; UN vote against sexual orientation protection "shameful" Comfort to homophobes, green light to homophobic murder London, UK - 19 November 2010 The United Nations voted this week to remove sexual orientation from a resolution calling on countries to protect the life of all people and to investigate extra-judicial, summary or arbitrary executions that are motivated by prejudice and discrimination. The UN: http://www.un.org/News/Press/docs//2010/gashc3997.doc.htm IGLHRC & ARC: http://www.iglhrc.org/cgi-bin/iowa/article/pressroom/pressrelease/1257.html Commenting on the UN vote, gay rights and human rights campaigner Peter Tatchell said: "This is a shameful day in United Nations history. It gives a de facto green light to the on-going murder of LGBT people by homophobic regimes, death squads and vigilantes. They will take comfort from the fact that the UN does not endorse the protection of LGBT people against hate-motivated murder. "The UN vote is in direct defiance of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, which guarantees equal treatment, non-discrimination and the right to life. What is the point of the UN if it refuses to uphold its own humanitarian values and declarations? "This vote is partly the result of a disturbing homophobic alliance between mostly African and Arab states, often inspired by religious fundamentalism. LGBT people in these countries frequently suffer severe persecution. "Many of the nations that voted for this amendment want to ensure that their anti-gay policies are not scrutinised or condemned by the UN. Even if they don't directly sanction the killing of LGBT people, they have lined up alongside nations that do. "South Africa and Cuba claim to support LGBT human rights, yet they voted to remove sexual orientation. They can no longer be considered gay-friendly states. Both countries have allied themselves with tyrannical, violent, homophobic regimes, like Saudi Arabia and Iran. Presidents Raul Castro and Jacob Zuma should hang their heads in shame. They've betrayed the liberation ideals that they profess to uphold," said Mr Tatchell. ENDS |

This is terrible. how can this be happening in 2010? What the fcuk does it have to do with any government what two consenting adults do with each other? Nones asking them to join in! There are seriously sick people out there, with far too much power. |
| THEY JOINED FOR MANY REASONS, TO MARCH, TO SAIL, TO FLY. THEY WENT WHERE THEY WERE POSTED, BUT NOBODY JOINS TO DIE. THEIR LEADERS TALK ON TV, WHAT ELSE COULD WE HAVE DONE? BUT THOSE LEADERS LOST NO DAUGHTERS, AND NONE HAS LOST A SON. SO HERE'S TO ALL OUR SOLDIERS WHEREVER THEY MAY BE...AND HERES TO ALL THEIR FAMILIES, I RAISE A GLASS TO THEE...WEAR YOUR POPPY WITH PRIDE. | |
