Just a general question. Do you believe in the monarchy ?
I have the utmost respect for the Queen, but would rather at the end of her reign..we abolished it. A lot of Monarchs have been unsuitable for leading a great britain...Any other system...but not this...

I do not believe in blood-line power transfers....Every Brit new-born should have the SAME rights and chance to aspire to the top. The monarchy is wrong in a free democracy. I will not be and do not want to be a SUBJECT of King Charles !!! ^o)

Dont believe in a heredity house of Lords...should be a House of Notables...

Do you really want a Queen Kate ???

This is just my personal thought.

Respect to the Queen, she's done a good job, but frankly her son is an absolute disaster waiting to happen, so perhaps it should end after she goes. That said, do you fancy a UK with a potential President Blair?

It's a tradition this nation has always had, she has limited powers and is more of a figure head.

I agree Charles should not become king and it should be William next.

It's costs around 70p for each person to keep the monarchy, I think that is great value for money.

This debate could go on for years and it's been done before on this forum, you're either pro-monarchy or not, but with support for the monarchy being around 90% in favour I can't see it ending antime soon.

The monarchy is part of what we are like it or not. Abolish it and we become just another European republic.

The whole world looks at us for our customs, traditions and indeed our monarchy - they may not like it and even laugh at it, but it sets us apart from the rest. Charles may be a buffoon but we have had them before and we will have them again. The monarchy must stay.

I wholeheartedly believe in the Monarchy.

To me, (and this is my personal belief) it gives the Country structure. Whilst all around, everyone else is 'doing their own thing', the Monarchy quietly sticks to traditions. I'll be honest, this actually comforts me. To me, they are the guardians of our traditions, of Englishness, of our historical inheritance, and the envy of many around the world.

I love them all but totally adore the Queen. Through thick and thin, war and peace, the trials and tribulations of her childrens marriages she has quietly gone about her business and been a fantastic ambassador for us the English and Britain as a whole. She does a lot of unseen trade promotion and actively supports many charities.

Unlike the politicians who took us into war, she has seen and survived one, and her children and grandchildren all served the nation in the Armed Forces, and also taken part in active service, which is more than can be said for Blairs sons.

And in answer to your question about Queen Kate, I think she will be known as Queen Catherine to be honest, and yes I do.

I realise there will be other republican readers of the thread who want the Monarchy abolished, and I respect their right to their own view, but for what its worth...

God Save the Queen <~~ thats mine :)

With the state this country is in just now god knows where it's going to

end up and us with it. We citizens need all the traditional anchor points this country can

offer us, now isn't the time for more drastic changes, we have enough to contend with from

the enemies within as it is. Leave the royals alone as a rallying point in case the need should arise in the future, I say.

The monarchy represents me as a Briton far more than any politician ever would.
It is an intrinsic part of British and English heritage and culture, and I for one would die before I saw a British republic, it will never happen. At least the monarchs send their kids to serve the country, something our politicians never do

The monarchy is the last bastion against tyranny. The monarch can dissolve an illegal Parliament, and since the armed forces' ultimate loyalty is to the monarch, not the government, the monarch can kick Parliament out at bayonet point if they refuse to go. Cold steel - MPs don't like it up 'em.

Considering we are currently fighting an insidious and contradictory ideology to our own I think by dismantling the monarchy at this moment would only assist the Islamic Fascists, who would attribute full credit to “Allah” (piss on him).

So when the lines are drawn and we are face to face with our enemy “the Islamic Fascists” we can cry with one voice, “NO SURRENDER” & “GOD SAVE THE QUEEN”.

So keep the monarchy.

Isn't Harry a closet member of the EDl. If there was ever an organisation behind us it would be the Royals.

Why did they change their surname to Windsor?

Because they had a German sounding second name and it was decided to change it during WW 1 I believe, but does it matter?

We're not currently fighting a war against Germany, public perception was different in World War One, mainly because the Kaiser was a relative, as were most of the European royal families. If people wanna make snide racist digs about the Queen's Germanic relatives I wish they'd have the nust to come out with it. Most of the country has Germanic origins, Anglo-Saxon

i actually dont think charles will be king, i just got a feeling that he will die before he has the chance.

William will make a brilliant king.

But the queen god bless her cotton socks, has be deceived by politicians and really needs to reassert herself, i.e. start sticking the royal boot in ....

i would love to leave the EU, and restore the relationships with the commonwealth ....

Yes they did, and then many royals went on to fight the Germans. What's your point with all this?
