In my opinion:

Funding was also the source of the problem for the police and they just won't say it. Look how long it took for Riot response. Just excuses, on the quiet the government will now reduce police cuts.

On cuts:

There are many useless courses which are only there to keep numerous lecturers in jobs, Universities are increasingly “jobs for the boys”. The government should provide free funding to all University degrees that contribute to GDP, all other courses should be paid for by students.

"future overkill response" said the cop, wait till next EDL demo will the police be allowed for peaceful protest?

It was probably started by the police. If they demonstrated that lack of funding could lead to severe public disorder it might make the goverment think twice.

They know cuts will generate more public disorder and like Thatcher make the funds available to respond. If memory serves me right, police overtime during the Miners dispute was massive.

What effect on future EDL demos “a ban maybe”?

It may have been cheaper to let them riot and replace the windows than pay all the OB overtime! :D

Anybody know if they caught the fire extinguisher thrower?
