GOVERNMENT FEARS OVER ISLAMIC EXTREMISTS DOZENS of Muslim terrorists freed from British prisons still “pose a risk”, leaked Government papers have revealed. Secret documents from the Ministry Of Justice said a “significant” number of Islamic extremists must be monitored. Around 20 were due for release on licence and a further 26 will be freed over the coming months. They include Abu Bakr Mansha, 26, who was jailed for plotting to kill a British soldier, and Khalid Khaliq, 36, who had links to the 7/7 bombers. The memo warned that some offenders could target vulnerable Muslims and try to radicalise them. Guidelines said restrictions should be imposed, including banning them from attending a list of named mosques, meeting Muslim leaders or using computers. They were leaked amid calls for controversial control orders, slapped on suspected terrorists when the police do not have enough evidence against them, to be scrapped. The National Association of Probation Officers’ Harry Fletcher said: “It’s essential adequate resources are given to supervise these men. “The danger is that the licences applied to these people become control orders by the back door.” link http://www.dailystar.co.uk/news/view/162169/Government-fears-over-Islamic-extremists/ |
