complaintresponse@bbc.co.uk to me show details 4 Nov (3 days ago) Dear Mr Kirb Reference CAS-368225 Thanks for contacting us about ‘Sunday Morning Live’ broadcast on 24th October. I was sorry to read that you felt this programme was biased against The English Defence League (EDL). I note that you feel they presented them to be racist and that there should have been a member of the EDL on this panel to provide their point of view. Impartiality is partly dependent on balance and it’s not possible to achieve that with every report. Programme makers aim to do justice to the full range of views and opinions in particular issues. We aim to report what’s actually happening over a period of time so the audience is in a better position to make up their own minds about what’s going on. I can assure you that we strive hard to be accurate, balanced and fair. I’m sorry that you feel we failed to achieve this on this occasion. We’re guided by the feedback that we receive and to that end I'd like to assure you that I've registered your complaint on our audience log. This is a daily report of audience feedback that's circulated to many BBC staff, including members of the BBC Executive Board, programme makers, channel controllers and other senior managers. The audience logs are seen as important documents that can help shape decisions about future programming and content. Thanks again for taking the time to contact us. Kind Regards Christine Thompson BBC Complaints www.bbc.co.uk/complaints Edited by prestonfootpatrol, Nov 7 2010, 10:38 AM.

Surely before they broadcast the show they should have contacted the EDL to put up a representative or comment or the program is bias. The best way to find out is put in a freedom of information request. This is a good website for some guidance on writing a request. http://www.whatdotheyknow.com/ Also do a search for Halal etc in your area; I think your find some interesting requests. |
