The wife and i went shopping this afternoon and to my delight there was a unit of young Army cadets packing the shopping for folks but i was soon saddened to think one day soon they maybe squandered in Afghanistan

You know the score when you sign up, I know some lads who signed back up to go to Afghanistan.

There's no glory in war but it does draw some people towards it.

yep,
my eldest lass does it ,
the old folks absolutley love it.
they love seeing the kids in the army gear.
cant reccommend cadets highly enough for anyone with kids.
they run it at our kids school and they all go in uniform on thursdays to school.
makes me laugh coz those that arent in it pay like £200 fot their kids to go on these outward bound courses yet in cadets its all free.
plus they get to go shooting and stuff instead of lessons.
best thing a kid can be in imo.

and theyre all in the rememberance parade next week...biggest thing on the cadet calendar.

when i was 16 i applied to the army .
i passed selection in edinburgh when i was 17 and i was told im going into the infantry early this year
(mercian regiment) .
however as 12 months passed of me waiting it meant me having to retake my selection again . however they told me an exact date i will be starting my phase 1 training if i pass again.
however i was involved in a car crash a couple of months before which resulted in me having to go to A&E
little did i know it would prevent me from going in the army :(

i recieved a letter a few months ago telling me i have to wait 12 months again to retake selection .
:( all because someone hit me from behind in the car . oh and not being racist but it was a muslim who barely spoke english who hit me !

absolute joke !! i do have a job and im at college so could be worse but the Army was my life !

Apply again in a year, you're still young there's plenty of time. Can't believe how long it's taking to get in these days.

Yeah i knew the score when i signed up mate but that didnt make it any easier on my parents while i was treading the streets of N Ireland.
They say history repeats itself, now as a parent im going through the same torment they did.
Besides why should our boys die over there? when those dirty mullahs are parading around our streets preaching death to us all.
Bring the boys home n put em on our streets to defend, with as much firepower as they need
