I believe that the ways of the teaching of islam in schools in wrong. Okay, I understand religion is taught to make young people aware and more accepting of other peoples religious beliefs, but in the case of islam it's wrongly taught, teachers will only ever teach the "peaceful side of it" and how muhammed brought messages from allah to the muslims. In other words they will only be ever hear HALF the true story. Why aren't people taught about the other part of islam, the violent side, the fundementalist side to it. People can't claim it to be racist, because it wouldn't be saying they were fundementalist "jihadis" it would mearley alert people to the fact these people exist, and there intentions are lethal!! And I don't just mean islam, I generally mean any religion as all religions are going to have people who take it to extreme levels, but more so islam because there holy book ENCOURAGES this sort of behaviour. where as other holy books do not. theres good and bad sides to everything. your taught about marriage but also divorce, birth but also death, Islam but not the other side of it! Why? And if you were to teach it in school the PC brigade would be out, The Useless Annnoying Fookers (UAF) would be up in arms, Alot of parents would be not happy, and all because the truth was being spoken. |

As a teacher, can I suggest if you want to do something about that, then firstly, look up the national curriculum units of work on the DFES website and see what they say. The other thing to look at is RE text books, which can be seen in most book shops. I've taught RE on several occasions and because of my degree (philosophy) should have become an RE teacher. Actually, RE lessons and RE textbooks only tell the good side about ALL religions. There is nothing about Atheism, Secularism or Humanism in most RE lessons. The other thing you can do is this. Join your local SACRE. A SACRE is the Standing Committee on Religious Education. Contact the education department at your local town hall for details of yours. SACRE's are committees made up of volunteers - usually religious - who decide on how RE is taught in local schools. If more people like you joined them, they would be forced to put a more balanced view. Thats the way to do something about it really. |

It's like this with everything that kids are taught in schools it's all left wing one-sided crap. They use history lessons to make kids feel ashamed about their Nations past, they use science lessons to brainwash kids on "global warming",In "citizenship" kids are filled full of crap about "multiculturalism" and "diversity" and then as you've pointed out the use RE lessons to fool kids into beliving that islam is the "religon of peace".Why don't they provide both sides on subjects like religon. |
