At the moment I strongly doubt whether servicemen and women of the forces would be allowed to join.

Hi Xeli,

The Army recognizes the EDL as a political movement, although we are not. To the best of my knowledge they do not want members of the armed forces marching with the colors on. However there are many, many members of the armed forces in our ranks. Also many ex forces.

The EDL has an armed forces division. We welcome all members of the armed forces with open arms.

As we are a non membership based group anyone can be a member. They just need to subscribe to our message. As the thought police have not worked out how to read our minds yet....

As for marching with us, why not. Just be advised against wearing anything that would identify you are a serving soldier.

Just had a quick scout of the Facebook 'Armed Forces' page and noticed this...

Ref AQD- As a current member of HM Forces i can say that there is no 'legal' reason why any of the forces can stop any of their menbers from joining ths group, or others similar, and posting on the walls etc. As EDL mentioned the olny hold up is attending protests or rallys. We are still free to passively join the BNP. And thats def a political organisation. Fair comment on the advice about muslims tracking for members id etc.

There are plenty of ex service personal that wear their uniforms at demo's, otherwise if serving just go in civvies mate.

Think i'd prefere civvies anyway, cameras tend to spot camo quite easily considering its supposed to keep us concealed :) anyway thanks for the replies my first demo next month should be intresting.

@J2897 just been on the page thanks

So can someone confirm...MOD policy is that you CAN be a member/forum user or attend meetings of the EDL but..... the MOD do NOT allow personnel to demo/protest at public gatherings of EDL?

Have I got this right?
