http://www.dr.dk/Nyheder/Indland/2010/10/25/135338.htm (transl. by aqh) Treatment of asylum seekers at the Kopenhagen airport in Denmark is a hot topic. Arriving seekers are welcomed to Denmark, they are given a train ticket and a pat on the back. Over 50% never arrive at the Sandholm refuge centre. Danish Broadcasting Company has revealed that police's resources are not adequate for thorough interviews and escorting the asylum seekers to the centre. - If you come here and ask for an asylum, you'll get a train ticket and an order to go to Sandholm by yourself. After that you can turn to left or right as you please, said airport representative Carsten Bo Holk. According to him, only one third actually arrived at Sandholm, and the rest can live illegally in the country. There is no registration at the airport. Members of the parliament are shocked. Folk party is demanding an explanation from the immigration and justice ministers. - This means that we are opening our arms to the whole world, and from here one can go to all western countries. This must be stopped, said social democratic representative Karen Hækkerup. |

That's bad, very bad. Do they even know who they are letting in? It'd be hard to find a worse case of dereliction of duty by a government to it's citizens. I don't suppose there's much monitoring of illegals and immigrants so how are they living? How are they raising money or being funded if they just 'disappear? It's frightening! |

It's been just as bad here for years. Illegals can jump off the back of a lorry in front of the police and they are just directed to immigration centres, miles and miles away. The police are powerless, the system can't cope so the immigrants just pour in unchecked. |

Worse thing is, we have a legal right and responsibility in this country to see that our European brethren secure their borders properly, as once inside Europe, the stupid law says they can go wherever they want. I know we still have some checks, like proving you are an EU citizen, but that is by far and above NOT ENOUGH. |

I can foresee European Parliament proposals to halt all cross border immigration before individual countries start a chain reaction and panic whereby individual countries legislate to dump / forward illegal’s. |

This poster is obviously a Dane, as a Brit who has a Danish daughter and a couple of Danish Grand children, I would like to add a couple of additions to his post, Muslims make up 4%-5% of the Danish population, they consume now get this right 40% of all welfare payments. Ever heard of Rock wool, Rock wool is a Danish Multinational firm that makes insulation material. They have a fund called the Rockwell fund that does research. They produced a report on how different immigrant groups integrated into Danish society. One of the main criteria was the no. of immigrants who had full time work after living in Denmark for five years. The surprising result was that the highest percentage of immigrants in full time work were Filipinos with I think around 88% closely followed by the west Europeans in the mid 80%. The Muslim immigrants began at around 50% with the Somalis holding up the lot with around 20%. One wonders how they are going to react when the Danish Welfare system collapses and they do not receive there welfare check. Another thing I would like to add which might be of interest to you Brits is that only 15 Victoria Crosses have been given to foreign nationals fighting in the British forces, out of that 15 5 have been Danes one was the only Victoria Cross awarded to a member of the S.A.S. |

I think border agents in this country do not have the legal power to detain an illegal immigrant. Police must be on hand for that. I believe they only have the power to hand them a notice asking them to show up for processing somewhere else. I could be wrong on this so don't quote me, I'll look into it. |
