Kirklees Council asked to fund replacement doors and windows at Huddersfield Muslim Community Centre COUNCILLORS have been asked to commit £13,000 to improve a community building. Kirklees Council’s Cabinet will decide this week whether to fund the replacement of 29 windows and three doors at Huddersfield Muslim Community Centre at Clare Hill. Council inspectors who visited the centre on Cambridge Road in November, 2009, found the doors and windows were “well below standard” for security and energy efficiency. The council’s Cabinet will decide whether to fund the upgrade at its meeting at Huddersfield Town Hall tomorrow at 4pm. The improvements would allow the centre to save around £430 a year on its energy bill. link http://www.examiner.co.uk/news/local-west-yorkshire-news/2010/10/25/kirklees-council-asked-to-fund-replacement-doors-and-windows-at-huddersfield-muslim-community-centre-86081-27536516/#ixzz13MXFeBu7 |

surely if non muslim council tax payers fund this ''improvement'' then they are also entitled to use the facility? |

Here we go again: take, take, take. If this building isn't fit for purpose or not fit for 'human' use then turn it into a pig sty or something else useful instead. 'Nuff said. |

That's a very good letter. You've covered quite a bit of ground and made your points very well. Can't wait for the reply. |

Well as an investment I would say it is a bad one. Who have to pay the heating bill anyway? Is it the special ones, or is it the council? At this point I cannot see the point of the council investing 50p in the windows and doors, let the special ones pay for the upgrades. After all it isn't like the wider community can use the facilities is it? Good luck with the letter TodeSLichT, more power to ya for it. Peace Ste |

They must think we were all born yesterday. Someone should take the initiative today and phone the Council and tell them, in a pleasant and calm way, to get off their arses and check out their charity record status (accounts). Easy enough to do so, if I can do it, so can they. In my opinion these people are probably very capable of funding their own refurbs. Jeesh, there are over 30 mosques in the area, and that doesn't include other charities/trusts/centres affiliated with their mosques. Pulling a fast one on the the dhimmi Council comes to mind. No doubt they have mates as Councillors and in the Council offices. But, being as you will most probably be paying for their refurbishments you might as well be aware of whose coffers your taxpayers monies are feathering: This so called Huddersfield Muslim Community Centre referred to in the article is not its correct name. First off, their Charity number is: 518125. (All charities are requested to submit their accounts to The Charity Commission) The Charity Commission list this particular org/charity/group as: THE COUNCIL OF ISLAMIC AFFAIRS HUDDERSFIELD CHARITABLE TRUST yet according to the above charity their financial statements for the Year ended 31 March 2005, put forward to The Charity Commission, on pages for the year 2005-2006, pages 1 - 6 of 11, they call themselves: HUDDERSFIELD COUNCIL OF ISLAMIC AFFAIRS CHARITABLE TRUST yet their contactable address on their statement of accounts is: The Muslim Community Centre, Clare Hill, Highfields, Huddersfield, HD1 5BU. Halfway through their 'financial statement of accounts' for the same year 2005-2006, pages 7-11 of 11, the title at the top HUDDERSFIELD COUNCIL OF ISLAMIC AFFAIRS CHARITABLE TRUST changes to: JAMIA MASJID ANWAR-E-MADINA AND ISLAMIC STUDY CENTRE which clearly states at the bottom of the pages that these pages form part of their accounts. On page 3, it clearly states that "the charity's main source of income was from the provision of room hire services. Since the centre does not have paid employees it is restricted in its ability to carry out its activities and is dependent on volunteers" yet on page 7 it states "wages £11,091" (unrestricted) for the year 2005. I did another search on The Charity Commission site for: JAMIA MASJID ANWAR-E-MADINA AND ISLAMIC STUDY CENTRE and it is listed as a separate entity. Their Charity Number is: 1101647 and if you compare both HUDDERSFIELD COUNCIL OF ISLAMIC AFFAIRS CHARITABLE TRUST (Charity number: 518125) and JAMIA MASJID ANWAR-E-MADINA AND ISLAMIC STUDY CENTRE (Charity number: 1101647) their accountant is the same, the layout is identical (finances vary) and Mr. S.M. Siddique is listed on both statements as a Trustee at both of the above organisations, yet he has not officially listed himself as being affiliated with both. There is a specific area on The Charity Commission site where it asks for this clarification, but on both of these cases the wording is: "There are no other charities to display for MR MOHAMMAD SIDDIQUE". So, overall, I am a little confused as to what is going on. Accounts records for Huddersfield (518125) etc: link here Charity Commission for Huddersfield etc: link here Accounts records for Jamia (1101647) etc: link here Charity Commission for Jamia etc: link here Their contact listed on their statement of accounts is the Secretary: MR F. R. TARIQ (full name: Fazul ur Rehman Tariq) - his contactable address is listed as: MUSLIM COMMUNITY CENTRE, CLARE HILL, HUDDERSFIELD, HD1 5BS / Tel: 01484 435839 / Mobile: 0786 600 8181 / Fax: 01484 435839. ALSO, in addition Mr Tariq is Chairman of the Elland Mosque Association at 26 & 35 Elizabeth Street, Elland, HX5 0HU. Also, at the same address, nearly (I say nearly, the address is changed from Clare Hill to Clare Drive, could be accidental, haven't checked), he is als Secretary General for the Anglo Pakistan Cultural Association: Mr F R Tariq, c/o Muslim Community Centre, Clare Drive, Huddersfield, HD1 5BU, Tel: 01422 253222, Mobile: 0792 9642102,(busy man eh?) The Trustees and the people running these places are all linked up with other mosques/centres/groups in and out of their areas, so wtf do they have to go to the Taxpayers with a beggging bowl. I am sure the Council, if they have £13,000 to chuck away, they could find it better spent on the elderly, or the homeless, or any other vulnerable persons facing the forthcoming cold winter months ahead. |

I cant believe these people have the brass neck to come to us (the council tax payers of huddersfield) YET AGAIN I was disgusted and very angry when I found out that we had funded c.c.t.v cameras in all of their taxis a couple of years ago and Im utterly perplexed at how they can come again with their hand out. I for one will be attending the next council meeting and making my views very clear. If they want to refurb or upgrade they can use the moiney they raise from hiring out the rooms. That is what any other group has to do. innit....................... the cheeky gits !!!! |

This is the same council who paid for upgrades of privately owned houses and businesses in predominantly islamic areas (Lockwood/Thornton Lodge and Ravensthorpe). This will defo get the go ahead. Look for a Mr Pandor (islamist) on the Kirklees Council who was behind the private residency upgrade venture, I imagine he will be in the mix. |

Fern, have you forwarded a copy of your research to the Charities Commission? Maybe the local paper and your councillor might like a copy too? Brilliant detective work. |

I was going to suggest they apply for a lottery grant, but this would be seen as haram.
http://artsweb.bham.ac.uk/bmms/1997/01January97.html#Lottery%20grant%20controversies (search in the page for lottery) CTRL-F However, it seems they contradict themselves and try to justify acceptance by saying it is for charitable causes and if it is not for a religious building it is ok. So in this case it would be ok, as it for the whole community (even though non-muslims would be made to feel uncomfortable if they used it). |

Nice one Fern. The meeting is at 1600 today, and I will post as soon as I know anything, unless HX_edl beats me to it. I still have not received a response to the email I sent them yesterday. Well, I got this:
I think I may have to point your work out Fern, so thank you very much for it. |

I hope someone has a calculator with them it will take 30 years to make back the savings on the heating bill to pay for the new windows and doors. The building will probably be pulled down by then. |
