I wonder how many so called "indian" restaurents are owned by non-indian muslims and use halal meat ?

There should be a law making food outlets to clearly state if the meat is Halal or Kosher. At least in Muslim areas quite a few butchers state halal.

Simple practical step.

I've often wondered this. Put in it's simplist way, would people presume that 'Indian' = 'non-muslim' and anything else that doesn't include the word 'Indian' (such as 'Bangla' etc.) is potentialy muslim/halal?

I know there are variances, distinctions and exceptions but, as a general rule of thumb?

Very many so called 'Indian' restaurants are not Indian. Most are in fact Bangladeshi or Pakistani....

They use the Indian ploy as a marketing tool.

No Indian is a catch-all term for the restaurants, rather than them using it as a marketing tool. I can think of very few who use the term Indian themselves at all to be honest
