Janan Meat hit back at negative halal coverage

Published: 29 September, 2010

Leading halal meat personality Naved Syed has hit back at recent negative media coverage that halal meat is being secretly served to UK consumers.

A series of articles in the Mail on Sunday has said that UK food outlet ‘secretly’ serving halal “will alarm anyone concerned about animal cruelty” and that there is a “growing concerns that members of public were unwittingly supporting a cruel form of butchery”.

Janan Meat MD Naved Syed has said however that the UK meat industry has the “best animal welfare second to none” and will be appearing on the BBC’s One Show tomorrow (Thursday) in a piece about halal meat.

“All representatives of the meat industry have pointed out that the UK has the best animal welfare second to none, the reference to slaughtering is that the only way to bleed an animal is to cut its throat. This type of operation is performed in every slaughterhouse in the UK whether its for halal or not. The other question of blessing of the animal which is also a requirement for halal and kosher must be adhered to. The big four poultry processors in the UK that are slaughtering halal, are using a tape which allows them to slaughter 1.5m chickens per week. The only thing a Muslim does is press the automatic button, the Muslim do not believe this to be in accordance with Sharia law.”

Syed estimates that 40% of poultry and 25-30% of lamb consumed in the UK meets halal specification however there is a disagreement whether the poultry meets certain Muslim specifications for halal.

“Muslim communities and kosher experts all agree on that it is better labelling that is needed so consumers know how their food has been prepared.

“The UK consumer cannot identify a cuddly lamb in a field to a slab of meat in a packet in a supermarket, they need to understand this is what we are killing, a living animal to satisfy their need for food. We all seem to be focusing on the last 30 seconds of its life, the UK farmers are the best in the world for animal welfare, it’s this industry that we are now destroying. The guidelines for halal that have been produced by the Food Standards Agency at a cost of £1.2m in 2004, will resolve this problem for halal in the UK.”

Accusations from the Mail on Sunday that Wembley stadium is serving halal burgers is disputed added Syed which will be proven in a feature on tomorrow’s One Show on BBC 1 at 7pm.

Syed said he now wants to make an open invite to farming minister Jim Paice to come and visit Janan Meat and learn more about the halal meat industry.

I'm not happy:

True, but this has nothing whatsoever to do with halal salaughter!

Yes, but no mention of stunning and suffering.

"...specifications for halal."

Surely you mean barbaric slaughter and suffering in the name of the false god?

The law was changed to allow muslims to carry outthese barbaric acts, who cares about the suffering?

So then, a 'good PR face' will on TV to hoodwink the British public into believing that 'drawing a blade across the animals, throat allowing the blood to drain' is a quaint little custom of no consequence. If the public are to be exposed to this level of deceipt they should also be as well informed of the opposite view - THE TRUTH.

Usual muslim obfuscation. Yes all animals have their throats cut. However we demand pre-stunning (which is against halal demands) and we don't want our meat dedicated to satan or any other false god.
I notice how he is trying to say that all slaughter is cruel and refocus people on the morality of killing animals for food rather than on the differences in the slaughter method. I wonder if we'll be allowed a phone in?

What? You can't be serious? That'll let the cat out of the bag and that's not good for community cohesion, multiculturalism, diveristy needs or inter-faith relations nor would it be good for the health of this government!!!

I want a phone in. I want to be able to ask this man about the differences in suffering between stunned and unstunned.
If he lies and says that they are comparable he's going to be metaphorically crucified. I don't think the One Show hosts have much "bite" in the questioning. I bet they'll just eat a kebab and say mmmmm delicious.

The whole point of the program will be to promote the leftist EU propaganda through it's servant, the BBC. Halal revalations in the recent press have provided an opportune moment to promote this agenda on the unsuspecting British public to further the ideology.

Why do you need a muslim to do it then???

“The UK consumer cannot identify a cuddly lamb in a field to a slab of meat in a packet in a supermarket, they need to understand this is what we are killing, a living animal to satisfy their need for food.
This is an insult to my intelligence, my family own small farms in NZ, I know all about lambs etc. Conceited little t*at.
yeha he is right about labelling because as we all know we HAVE to let everyone know if there are any PORK products in your meat.

The whole point surely is that majority population behaviour has been forced to conform to suit a minority. After all Islam demands that all bend to the will of “Allah” (piss be upon him).
