Is Europe Lurching to the Right?

Is there a change of political mood sweeping across Europe? Over the last few months there have been some interesting clues but do they stack up?

In France and towering Nicholas Sarkozy has rounded up the Roma and sent them back to Central Europe. It seems fairly clear that they were targeted collectively rather than individually. It has to be said also that the move has popular support in France.

Over in Germany and Thilo Sarrazin publishes an anti-Islam book which questions the value of Muslims in German life - it quickly becomes a bestseller.

Up in Sweden and the right (and the far right) have had a good showing in the recent national elections.

Head to Holland and Geert Wilder’s with his anti-Islamic message seems to be gaining a greater grip on the political landscape.

There are of course other examples but does all this add up to a lurch to the right?

And if so is the economic climate responsible i.e as people feel the financial pinch are social problems exacerbated and brought more sharply into focus?

It's the very first comment that I find both agreeable and interesting:

"Alex Rossi, Europe is Not Lurching to the Right. Its Native Peoples are slowly coming out of the Induced Coma that the Marxist Politicians who the Soviets Planted in every political party in the EU, induced on them under the dishonest slogan of Politicaly Correct Multiculturism ie. the Invasion & Conquest of Europe by Islam via the bellies of their women. Europe must remain Christian or go under!"
