With all this in the papers about Halal Meat a thought Just popped into my head that Muslim men don't do farming and the farmers where stopped some time ago from slaughtering their own live stock. Yet if you ask any farmer they would more than likely say the prefared method of slaughter would be a bullitt to the head, so in this case why is it ok for Muslim's to decide the fate of these farmer's animals? It would be interesting to know what their view is on this. |

Food production is no longer the remit of farmers. There are a handful of large scale food manufactures. They 'produce' everything and when I say produce there systems and processes are on a massive scale. One such plane processes 300,000 chickens a DAY! Ofcourse there are small scale, local guys. But the majority of stuff that gets to supermarkets is made the way. More info can be gained from watching Food Inc. Halal is one way of killing. Companies only do tuis if there is a Market. 2.2 billion Muslims across the globe gives them the Market. While these companies are only about profit they are also big on consumer opinion. Most the companies are US centric. To my knowledge they don't really do Halal. Anyhow, if u have any more questions about the food supply chain let me know. |

I think hard graft involving manual effort and an honest days work are alien concepts to most muzzies.

There was an article a while ago about a massive halal slaughterhouse/processing plant being built in Wales to process Welsh lamb. I don't know if it got past the planning stage though. Maybe somebody can remember the link to it. |
