I just received a touching letter from the british legion about remembrance day, it had a little wooden cross with a poppy on and they are asking me to write a message of support for serving soldiers or a remembrance message for the fallen then to send it back to be planted at lydiard park in wooton bassett on nov 11th, i was wondering if there is anything in the pipeline about remembrance day or suggestions on what could be done by the edl to show our support and remembrance for the lost! |

I would suggest a liaison between you or your division with the BL organiser and ask what you can do. I don´t (unfortunately) think just turning up would suit as you never know what might happen with our friends from the other side. Even if the BL were against it, you could still order a large wreath of poppies with a dedication to be placed at the memorial. I am sure other members will have some ideas for you as well. Good luck and I hope you can sort something out. |

Oh no i wasn't suggesting we turn up to the park, that would probably cause too much trouble and it is a day of remembrance not for petty arguments with the special ones! i was just wondering if there was anything planned or if anyone had any suggestions on what we could do! i will look into what's going on in my area but if there was anything within travelling distance the edl are doing i'll be there instead! |

If local divisions could post what they have planned it would be useful as those that wish to could go to their nearest. Yes I think no colours as per Noneaton would be correct |

I'll be going to my local memorial, my family name is on there. This year I will go armed with a camera as last year local "youths" tried to pull the St Georges and Union Jack flags down. |

I might travel to London for the services, if not defiantly my local memorial. I will be going to pay my respects and not as EDL, nothing should take anything away from the meaning of this day. |

I will be going to my local memorial. I don't think the EDL have a place there. Were here to defend the English way of life, I don't see rememberance day in threat, We should be there as normal people. |

As above pay your respects at your memorial as a regular citizen. A donation to the British Legion or similar charity never goes amiss. |

Go to your local remembrance event, Don't politicize the day. I usually end up out with a good few old and still serving army mates, go to the British legion after and talk to the old boys, always good fun. Even more so when you get the old boys mangled

I got my cross from them the other day too I always fill it in and post it back to go in the Poppy memorial at Westminster - would love to go down for the day. Will probably just go to the local ceremony with the family, make a toast to the person the memorial is dedicated to and sell a couple of poppy related things online and donate the proceeds. |

I know what you are trying to say, it just me laugh when you said "normal people" I honestly thought you were being asked as EDL to do something. Sorry, That´s the second thing I have misunderstood or misread in a matter of weeks . I must be getting Alzheimers. Still think a decent wreath is a good idea, just keep your eye on it if you lay it from the EDL, a shame I know, but you know what the Islamics might do to it, and I am sure you like me cannot stand to see anything happen to our memorials and tributes. I think turning up to your local one is a good idea and without wearing the EDL clothing, but then no doubt someone will wear them, there's always one who wants to stand out, like there was in Nuneaton. |
