LPC 2010 - How should the British left engage with Islamists? 28 Sep 2010 Peter House, Oxford Street, Manchester, M1 5AN This seminar will look to facilitate an open discussion on the extent to which the left should be engaging with Islamists domestically, within the UK, and on what basis this engagement should take place. With whom, for example, should they be meeting behind the scenes, sharing platforms, and forming working relationships with? Quilliam is the world's first counter-extremism think tank. Located in London, its founders are former leading ideologues of UK-based extreme Islamist organizations. Quilliam stands for religious freedom, human rights, democracy and the development of a Muslim identity at home in, and with, the West. The confirmed speakers are: Hazel Blears MP, former Secretary of State for Communities and Local Government Ed Husain, Co-director, Quilliam Shahid Mursaleen, spokesman, Minhaj-ul-Quran Jamie Bartlett, Head of the Violence and Extremism Programme, Demos Mehdi Hasan (chair), Senior Editor (politics), New Statesman http://www.progressives.org.uk/events/event.asp?e=3217 "... religious freedom, human rights, democracy and the development of a Muslim identity at home in, and with, the West." What? How will that work? The these are opposing views, they can't co-exist! |

Well I suppose the left will "engage" as it has always done, With its tongue out and after licking the sandals of the islamists put it straight up their anuses, while hearing no evil, seeing no evil and certainly unable to speak no evil. |

Well we know about these folks Hazel Blears Ed Husain, Jamie Bartlett, Mehdi Hasan But lets take a closer look at Shahid Mursaleen, spokesman, Minhaj-ul-Quran. Firstly, Minhaj-ul-Quran Minhaj-ul-Quran (منہاج القرآن) International (or MQI) is broad-based international non-governmental organization (NGO) founded by Dr Muhammad Tahir ul-Qadri on 17 October 1980 in Lahore, Pakistan. It has a long term strategic vision to promote religious moderation, education, peace, love, harmony and moderate interpretation of Islamic sciences. The objective of Minhaj-ul-Quran in the Europe and the west in general is to create harmony between different societies through social interaction, interfaith dialogue and spreading the message of peace and integration. It also promotes human and women's rights around the globe Secondly Shahid Mursaleen Here he is talking about the 600-page fatwa [religious edict] against terrorism Muslims know a fatwa can support peace rather than terrorism The majority of right-minded Muslims in the world condemn terrorism and accept that it has no link with Islam. Unfortunately there are some elements within society that remain silent on this issue and this can be construed as a tacit approval of these atrocities. Moreover, there are others that attempt to justify it by focusing on the politics that cause these atrocities. Today Muslims, non-Muslims and government officials are looking for a leader and an authoritative figure in the Muslim world who will openly condemn suicide bombings and terrorism and clarify the misconceptions about its true Islamic viewpoint. The only person that has been able to produce what is an unprecedented 600-page fatwa [religious edict] against terrorism is a leading authority in Islam, Dr Muhammad Tahir-ul-Qadri. In what is the most comprehensive edict on this topic in the history of Islam, Dr Qadri has explained how suicide bombings and terrorism is unequivocally un-Islamic. In his Fatwa book he has stated that "all these acts are grave violations of human rights Islamic law." Unfolding the background of the fatwa, he explained that their actions caused harm not just to Islam but to humanity. He also went on to say that "its existence is an open danger against the integrity of Pakistan and world peace". He added: "The entire nation should disassociate itself from these elements and condemn them in the strongest possible terms unequivocally and with one voice. It is the need of the time for Pakistan to unite among its ranks at every level." Dr Qadri clarified that the fatwa is not in support of the US and its allies and nor should it be taken as an approval of their policies in the region. In the same way it did not support the disputed policies of the government of Pakistan and its unpopular style of governance and undemocratic attitude. This edict is particularly important for Britain due to the fact that the majority of Muslims are from South Asia and some extreme elements are confused about the religious viewpoint. Young British Muslims have been particularly targeted by extremist groups. And lastly Muhammad Tahir ul Qadri Muhammad Tahir ul Qadri founder of Minhaj-ul-Quran Dr Tahir ul Qadri the 'moderate' with anti-terrorism fatwa actually stipulates death penalty for Ahmadiyya Muslims. Below quote is from Dr Qadri's organisation Minhaj's own site (this page has very recently been removed from Minhaj site); For three days from November 14 to 17, 1985 Dr Qadri presented his arguments continuously before the Federal Sharia Court of Pakistan to determine the quantum of punishment to be awarded to a person guilty of contempt of the finality of the Holy Prophet (blessings and peace be upon him), an extremely delicate legal matter. He established, on evidence from the Quran and Sunna, that a person guilty of contempt of the finality of the Holy Prophet (blessings and peace be upon him) deserved death sentence and the punishment will be imposed as Hadd. The act of contempt of the finality of the Prophet (blessings and peace be upon him) is a crime, which cannot be tolerated whether its commission is direct or indirect, intentional or un-intentional. The crime is so sanguine that even his repentance cannot exempt him from the penalty of death. Dr Qadri placed a massive array of arguments before the learned Court and particularly stressed the point that no lacuna should be allowed in the legal structure of an Islamic state to encourage this form of sacrilege. This guy - Tahir Ul-Qadri should be put on the same level as the Taliban. The only difference is he's got a few of the British Government ministers under his belt and is the current darling of the Establishment. Take notice, this is the same guy who wants to convert rest of this country to his radical islamic ideology. |

Islam is perfectly suited to western liberal politics and will eventually engulf the politically left. Muslim / Labour candidates will gradually amplify Islamic influence via the first past the post system and slowly erode the democratic rights of the majority. |

Only one way to engage these people and that's at about 500 yards with a modern sighting system and what my wife calls (in reference to her time in the army) a "heavy handbag". AKA an M16 rifle. |

Brian of London has been actively occupying a very small slice of hideously over-occupied Tel Aviv since early 2009. Islam is a giant bungee cord tying it's adherents to the 7th century. They can pull themselves almost to the twenty first century but eventually the cord tightens and flings them back. | |
