Well it's happened.

The Leicester councillors have voted to ban to march. It's now up to the Home Secretary to decide if it will be banned.

Why ban it? We have proved when we're allowed to march it's pretty much peaceful, look at the Newcastle march, couldn't of went any better.

I would agree with you,

but if we did that, it would increase the chance of the EDL itself being banned.

It's breaking the law to march without permission.

Another kick in the teeth for free speech and the right to roam where i like! i still don't understand why they don't just force the counter demonstrations to be held on another day. that way there would be peace on the day and everyone could get there point across to the un/mis'informed masses in our country, is it because we would expose them for what they really are when they still turned up to edl demo's causing trouble even after being told not to by the authorities!

By any chance - ANY chance - is there a direct corelation between how far to left the local council is to the probability of a march ban or is this coupled with the fact that the higher the ratio of 'special ones' in a given area then the more likely there will be a need to protest in that area? Having said ''the higher the ratio of 'special ones' in a given area...." combined with the greater likelyhood of the left infiltrating these very same councils, will marches always be banned?

EDL marches will usually be banned but I'm sure there is loads of towns and cities that have problems with Islam that would allow us to march.

Regarding the Newcastle demo, wasn't it a march and then a static demo after it? The media said it would be a march and the Casuals United blog did too.

Without wanting to start a row, I thought Newcastle was a march? I think London was an escort to the static protest, as was Bolton and Dudley1.

I just noticed a link on that page linking to a story about selling alcohol to children,
Quote:

Five shop staff in the Hinckley and Bosworth district of Leicestershire have received £80 fixed penalty fines for selling alcohol to children.

Is that all they are fined???
Disgusting. ^o)

why? they will try and ban ANY march we have. We always do static demos but usually get a march anyway as they have to get you to and from the venue.

Hardly surprsing as half the councillors in Leicester are Asian and the other half are wet behind the ears and think we live in a multicultural utopia.

Regardless of what the authories say Leicster does have a serious problem with Islamic terrorism.A few years ago a major player in Al Queda was put on trial and sent down for several years. He had been living openly in the Highfields community. The city is a breeding ground for terrorists and its about time the authorities accepted this fact.

I think this could benefit from all of us writing or emailing the Home Secretary. I'm gonna try and do this tomorrow, and will post my missive on this forum. If enough of us complain about this unfair action, then maybe something can be done with it.

I dunno, they seemed to have a good go at it, at Edinburgh (I wasn't there, so only going by reports) earlier this year.

And hold on a minute, but since when have any of us seriously suggested attacking a mosque? Well, anything beyond standing outside and vocalising our disapproval, which I do not believe is in any way illegal.

London for Geert Wildwers we had a March.
Aylesbury we had a march
Newcastle we had a march.
Others were an escorted walk,
The difference between having escorted walks,And marches are,We are not supposed to Chant or have Banners visible,On Escorted walks, so if OB want to be Hostile they can at any time arrest offenders,
where as a march you can chant within reason and display banners,

Another swift kick to the happy sack, I was looking forward to my first EDL demo.
Blooming councillors. Maybe there will be time for the Home Secretary to change her mind yet. With any luck she will vote with her conscience (if she has one) rather than what the large minority (majority) want.

Peace

Perhaps we should organise a protest at these council meetings whereby they propose to ban us. I think the laws on protest allow for a spontaneous demo.

Arthur.
