Wanted to post this in articles section but not sure how to do it,any moderator who thinks it worthy of being put in articles section can do so-or it can pass into the netherworld of forgotten posts... Maybe not the most eloquent or celebral piece but it is as good as i can do. This letter is a challenge to you-a devout muslim, you who currently seem to have little to contribute to any debate except obscurantism, victimhood and the bigotry card, you who subscribe to a book that vilifies non-muslims as well as it does anything else and get to call the rest of us bigots. For a start you seem to think Britain is awash with 'Islamophobia',well let's look at the facts: You live in a country where you can subscribe to religious scripture whose near every single page says you have to burn in hell for not being a Muslim and accuse other of intolerance,a country that talks as if there is an elemental force that is 'extremism' threatening society because it is deathly afraid of saying the word 'Islam' out loud,a country where the increasingly craven, puny moral cowards we have for elected representatives cave in to the demands of muslim communities up and down the country,a country where anyone with the temerity to critizise Islam out loud is labelled 'far right' by the media,a country that tolerates the vision of life in the Koran being taught in faith schools across the country even though it has already led to the murder of 52 of our citizens. If you put all that aside then i guess you right it reallt is anti-muslim hour. You are of course making a claim-a claim that 1400 years aqo the creator of the universe was kind enough to give the human race his timeless and infallible word-and you believe-your first responsibility is faith after all- that you get your morallity from his word-let's look at this claim. We know that on near daily basis people blow themselves up in the name of Islam, you may say these actions have nothing to do with Islam and they are 'hijacking' your faith, but we need only open up the Koran to discover that obtaining paradise is what it is all about for a muslim and violent martrydom is the only way of obtaining paradise. Can you seriously make the claim this belief has nothing to do with the seemingly infinite supply of suicide bombers in the muslim world? You may claim you are moral because you don't drink alcohol but what kind of moral framework is "don't drink alcohol but by all means teach children it is the reality of the universe that martyrdom ensures a place in paradise"? And think about this-somewhere in the world-today or in the near future-an innocent cjild will be raped and murdered,we may wish this was not the reallity of the world we live in but it is-and this child might not be a muslim. Now according to the Koran this child-who has just experienced the most horrendous end to her life-will now have to spend an eternity roasting in hell and be made to drink boiling water and have her skin flayed.Do you consider this to be moral, right and decent?Do you really believe this is the reality of the universe?Do you really love and worship a god who would create a univerese where this was the reality? Now i know that people can call themselves muslims and act like human beings, did you know for example that during the brutal slaughters of India's partition some muslims gave shelter to hindus? But since the Koran is fairly brutal on polytheists i'd say they were ignoring the content of the Islamic holy book rather than adhering to it.In otherward i doubt your humanity truly comes from your faith. You may claim the is a moral and spiritual vaccum in Britain-perhaps you are right-but can you provide serious empirical evidence teaching children the Koran is the word of God is the best solution to this probelm? We have many problems to address in Britain, the state of healthcare and our schools, what's on display on our streets on Friday and Saturday nights, decling birth rates and an aging population, demographic changes taking us toward a troubled future, yob culture. But you see-maybe all us unbelievers simply aren't grappling with the real issues.Watching the ever informative Islam channel one day(i'm an avid viewer)i witnessed the site of a woman phoning in to ask an Islamic "scholar" If it was acceptable for her to go near the koran since it was her time of the month. Now i ask:is it possible to conceive of anything more intellectually forlorn than adult human beings equivacating over whether menstruating women are to unclean to touch the koran? And i answer:probably not. You may claim that when you go to your place of worship you get a sense of community or a sense of peace and tranquillity.Perhaps you do-i do not wish to denigrate or take away from either of these things, but to imply that these things could be had without believing there is a book in existence the creator of the univerese had a hand in,is of couse where all rational discourse ends. If you think about those residing in 7th century Arabia were a fortunate bunch weren't they-i mean, humanity had been on the go for 150 000 years and all of a sudden they get chosen to receive God's timeless and infallible word.Muhammed must have felt like he had won the lottery. You complain about the countries foreign policy, now maybe we have blundered in Iraq and Afghanistan, but i wonder how much difference it would make if this country had the non'interventionist foreign policy it ought to have.Would there not be civil strife on our streets if Israel bombed Iran? Can you expalin to me why British tax payers who want to live in a peaceful country should have to live in fear of civil strife every time things kick of with the Islam-Jewish state war? One last thing i want to address-as a pious muslim you believe Islam is perfect because it is of divine origin and that it was put on Earth to be superior above all other religions-and because you believe this you believe it is up to all unbelievers to adapy to Islamic ways, and you see i guess that's where we are all in a bit of a predicament because some of us in this country quite like our freedoms and cultural heritage and would rather not throw them away to appease the Islamic community? So is the clash upon us whether we like it or no?There is a solution-we could come together and have an adult conversation unconstrained by dogmatism or political correctness. Can you handle that?Is it within you?Is it to much for you?Are you man enough-or woman enough-for an adult conversation unconstrained by dogmatism or political correctness?Perhaps you are not,and if you are not i think a troubled future awaits us all. That's all for now. |

Very good. You have put alot of thought in to it. However, can I suggest there have been alot more than 52 murders attributable to Islamists in the UK to date. |
