:D :D :D

ANGRY Muslims slammed a sixth-form college last night for becoming the first in Britain to ban burkas.

Students must “remove items of clothing which cover their face’’ as part of a security clampdown at the new £81million campus of Burnley College.

Staff say the ban is “an essential element for a safe environment”.

But the University of Central Lancashire, which operates from the same campus, still allows burkas.

Abdul Hamid Qureshi, chairman of the Lancashire Council of Mosques, said: “It seems Burnley College has one policy on veils and the university has another and I just think to ban veils altogether is excessive.

“There are human rights issues at stake here. There should be a compromise.

“If security is an issue the person coming in a burka should show their face to the security guard.”

And Labour councillor Wajid Khan, who runs community leadership courses at the University of Central Lancashire, said: “I understand there’s a need to protect people and security at the main gates.

“But in terms of going further and being able to go in classes they should be able to go through once they have satisfied security.”

I love the irony of banning face coverings. If the muslim community weren't so prone to blowing things up there wouldn't be such security concerns.
Either way covering your face is not normal here unless you're about to rob someone and I don't beleive in exemptions on religious grounds. If they don't like it they can go to a nice islamic country that allows veils. But then again do islamic countries that favour veils allow women to be educated............

When i was in school they banned earnings and make-up, isn't this just the same?
A burkha is not required to be a Muslim, it's a fashion accessory.
THEY JOINED FOR MANY REASONS, TO MARCH, TO SAIL, TO FLY. THEY WENT WHERE THEY WERE POSTED, BUT NOBODY JOINS TO DIE. THEIR LEADERS TALK ON TV, WHAT ELSE COULD WE HAVE DONE? BUT THOSE LEADERS LOST NO DAUGHTERS, AND NONE HAS LOST A SON. SO HERE'S TO ALL OUR SOLDIERS WHEREVER THEY MAY BE...AND HERES TO ALL THEIR FAMILIES, I RAISE A GLASS TO THEE...WEAR YOUR POPPY WITH PRIDE.

''There are human rights issues at stake here. There should be a compromise.''

Damn straight there are human rights issues at stake. The human rights of the non believers who don't like having to worry about being blown up at any tick of the clock. As for the compromise??
fcuk compromise, no one should compromise safety.

i know someone who works in an education environment-
the diversity training people actually APOLOGISE to the staff before the diversity courses they ARE FORCED onto, start...and thats 100% truth.
the diversity people know its total shite, the staff know its total shite, the pupils know its total shite but the 'place' has to run the courses to get that precious piece of paper and their grants etc from the govt. thought police.
no one believes it and no one wants it,
the one thing the diversity people and staff all agree on is that the diversity courses, training and subsequent implementation of the policies causes severe resentment, rises in racism, division amongst different groups at the 'place' and patronises people who dont want to be singled out because of their race, disability or religion and just want to get on quietly with their life with no fuss! it makes them targets and scapegoats when theyve asked for or wanted nothing....bizzarre.

For once the muslims don't get their own way. The Muslims and all the councillors try to make it out like they are just banning the Burka, typical. I wish more schools and colleges would be like this. And remember who Burnley's MEP is, Nick Griffin.
