EDL Volunteers; Volunteering for our communities

OK credit for this idea to the EDL Facebook page, a bloke named Wally Walford I believe, thought this would be a good place to bring it up as well.

Who would be up for doing some positive volunteer work in their community under the EDL name? Helping out old people with garden or other work, perhaps doing shopping for some elderly or infirm, anything else really of a similar, positive nature.

Idea being that the media etc and subsequently a lot of the people see us as some kind of ultra right wing thug group. Not only would this be worthwhile stuff to do anyway, would make a difference to people's lives, but it would help show us off in a better, more accurate light. Even if the media choose to ignore it (probably) then the individuals and communities that we help will truly know the score.

Anyone like the sound of that?

It has been raised before, my concern then was that I wondered whether the elderly or whoever we helped maybe targetted for accepting EDL (the big, bad racists) help.

That's a good point I guess...I suppose we could discuss that with individuals and see if they thought it was an issue, or perhaps volunteer in projects or ways which would make it hard for anyone to be targetted in revenge?

I agree you have a very, very legit concern but I think there should be a way round that, it'd suck for a nice way for us to help our country to be left behind due to fear of the scum.

Perhaps a sale or something to raise money for H4H? I still think we should do the family fun day at some point as well, next Spring or Summer perhaps.

I think a massive leaflet distribution is in order. Of course we need the clothing site back open to fund it...

Massive leafletting is definitely needed mate, I've still got my EDL Truth leaflets being worked on, once they're out I'm going to be distributing the fcuk out of them. Flag burning ones, all kinds, they're starting to look proper sweet as well.

Yeah the charity event is a sweet idea, at one stage we were talking about a family fun day combined with a sponsored walk and a 5 a side tournament, I still think this would be absolutely spot on myself.

I dont know how to go about explaining this ... I think that in honesty, all our actions when we make the effort to attend the demos ..well that is real community volenteer action... However its right and most inportant that we are seen to do good. Its what we do that counts . In Chester we are concentrateing on cleaning and restoreing the enviroment... Its something that a few of us here had begun along time ago, once the EDL emerged we turned all our actions to stand beneath its banner so to speack, now we restore as EDL. If there are any EDL around the country who feel that this is a viable means to an end then please get in touch..... At the end of the day ,if you wish to live in a clean and green pleasant land .... you must work to make it that way. We are up for expanding in any direction...aiding the aged , the young, all sorts of community actions....

Yeah all the stuff you just mentioned casualgreen is the exact kind of thing I have in mind, I think it'd be a great way to serve our country by taking grass-roots action in our communities and also a great way to draw positive attention towards the EDL.

what about a load of edl submitting forms for a big charity event as individuals but come the day "reveal" their EDL identity?

There are many pro and cons to this idea. What is needed is a meeting or a committee to sit down and work out what would work best, how to go about it and how to execute it in the best way ( people freindly way ).

I would love to see the EDL have teams in things like charity runs ect but that needs real thought and planning. I would also like to see division and reagional based inititives but as said we have to do the right thing and publicise it in the right way.
This takes research and real planning to get it right.

That would be a fun moment 'surprise!'

One of the key things is not to draw attention away from the event!

We should definately go the extra mile for our communities. I always give my seat on the bus or train to an elderly person. aswell as if an elderly person who I know lives down my street needs help carrying their shopping I'll offer to help. I wish I could say i've done more outside of work because i'm paid to help people. I know people appreciate politeness even if their not always polite. It is important to refuse a reward, because helping someone who needs it is reward enough. practice being selfless and humble. try to make the people your helping feel important. they will go away with a good impression of you. try to do it regardless of your politics. people should feel safe. if they know they are safe especially elderly people in their own homes at night. it can't be a bad thing. even if it means turning down your car stereo in residential area's that are not yours. just being considerate of your surroundings and other people. 'can I help you in anyway?' get used to asking that question but obviously if you see what they need help with. 'please allow me to help you' use your own descretion.

This is a really good idea and something we can all do. It's very impressive.

it would be a very good thing for EDL to receive good publicity for doing good within their communities. but it must not be a stunt. it has to be because you genuinely want to help people. otherwise people wont buy it and put it down to propaganda and so the people who need help wont get it and our reputation will remain unaltered. it is important do it for the right reasons not because we have ulterior motives. it is something we can do as individuals, Individuals of the EDL.
also it would be good if people knew they could come to you and you would help them. with whatever they need.

I couldn't agree more, sensitively and sensibly put too. As the EDL grows and the ideas are discussed openly who knows where we'll be in even a year from now?

Remember something from years ago called an Harvest Festival? You would donate a tin or packet of food to a good cause IE the elderly and create an hamper? Well how about donating something and making a Christmas hamper for a few lonely old people this Christmas.

you could add a donate button with paypal. have a treasurer. its going to be a cold winter. many elderly people die at christmas time. but you could donate the proceeds to a charity like this. even if not of money gets raised. its still better than nothing. I'll keep the Idea's coming as I think of them. some will be better than others.

i have a england flag up on my home, and if we all had one, it would make a statement to others to join and feel patriotic, on the other hand it could make us targets for the muzzies. i for 1 dnt care. im english and proud and so is my dad, my grandfathers and their fathers and grandfathers. we need to show solidarity and show them were not afraid of them. all they are doing is feeding off our fear, of the taliban woooo scary nooooot. oh no their the taliban coz their muslim, lets give them our neighbourhoods quick and let them rape and kill our neighbours, yea very patriotic noooot!!!

ENGLISH TILL I DIE!!!
when we haad english flags on our cars coz of the world cup, who complained.. the muzzies, pubs wer being fined, cars wer being pulled over, then what happened, ther was english flags everywhere showing the public that we are patriotic to our country. many old age pensioners are being left to rot on a lowly pension while in the news its all give give give to other countries. charity begins at home. we need to help these poor unfortunate victims now, yobs are terrorising old people because no1 has any respect and values. we need to show them the true meaning of being british. before ther was mobiles and internet sites, people talked. we used face to face communication to intereact with our friends, family.

instead of flags maybe something more subtle. like a pin. to show support to service men and women. the profits distributed equally between SSAFA Forces Help, St Dunstan's - An Independent Future for Blind ex-Service Men and Women, The Queen Alexandra Hospital Home - Serving Physically Disabled Ex-Service Men and Women, British Limbless Ex-Servicemen's Association: BLESMA , Erskine - Caring for Ex Service Men & Women , Coastal Forces Heritage Trust, Ex-Services Mental Welfare Society (Combat Stress) , The Royal Navy Club of 1765 & 1785 (United 1889) , King Edward VII's Hospital Sister Agnes , Royal Star & Garter Homes, Scottish Veterans' Residences , ABF The Soldiers' Charity , The Parachute Regimental Association. alot of good charities to choose from. knock on some doors and collect people's debits in shopping centres. you'd have to call the charities and ask them if they would be happy for us to do that on their behalf.
