The crew Nuneaton; Landlord today

I went down to the crew bar in Nuneaton today to make sure there had been no aftermath trouble and to give thanks for Sunday.

The landlord has personally criticized the local media via phone and e-mail for there biased reporting on the days events and has said any EDL will always be welcome although he has been STRONGLY advised not to open for the Gurkha parade!!!!!

I was welcomed into his pub and although the crew may have to shut. I personally will always remember what he did on Sunday, and if they have to lose custom over this a quid out of everyones pocket next week in an envelope through the letterbox would surely support his loss and give thanks to the pub!!!!

Covimp, That is a wonderful gesture and it makes me proud that we think of others and not just ourselves.

" and if they have to lose custom over this a quid out of everyone's pocket next week in an envelope through the letterbox would surely support his loss and give thanks to the pub "

and If I can get there, I will have a fiver for him. NS

It'll be a punishment for allowing the EDL in at the weekend. No doubt he has been threatened with losing his license if he does open.

His words were 'strongly advised'. Obviously he has to look after his business and staff, he said he will make a decision closer to the time after more talks with ob. It looks very unlikely that he will open before the evening though!!!

lol what a joke pubs are struggling up and down the country and when they might make some money OB stop them. Cant see how you can victimise one pub, but as you say strongly advised means do it and we will keep raiding your pub till we find a reason to close you down. Sometimes i think the OB have lost all perspective

Maybe the bobbies prefer folk to wonder round the town centre drinking cans. That would fit in nicely with what the media and police would like to portray as EDL members.

I've been saying since Day One that we should have a no alcohol rule on demos and that we should refuse to let the police hole us up in a Pub but it hasn't been a very popular perspective so far. The media do pan us with it though.

You could say the same about islam ;)

However the media will never, ever fail to mention the words and phrases "pub", "drunken", "cans", "beer-swilling" etc, etc, etc if any one of us goes anywhere near a beer.

The biggest factor stopping our growth and public acceptance is the way the media portray us. That is what is holding us back from main stream support so we should do whatever we need to do to disarm the media. If they focus on drinking, football songs, chanting, fighting or whatever in order to rubbish us then we should take that ammo away from them.
Right now we simply give them everything they need to portray us badly and keep public support down.

How great would that be to turn up at a demo with a group of sikh drummers ! I for one , would love it.

You should go for the Burkas or get some Star Wars Jawa coustumes and have the short people wear them carrying signs saying that Islam leads to pain, pain leads to fear, and fear leads to the "Dark Side" or some such. Make fun of the jihadis. They are so thin skinned and that will be their demise.

Instead of spouting off, why don't you get yourself down to Nuneaton and introduce yourself to some of the members. Then when you've shown some commitment and are known to people, then you might get listened to.

At the moment you sound like a petulant child who would take his ball home at a drop of the hat.

I think you should get your drummers. It should be a celebration and a spectacle. Have fun provide entertainment and the lapdog media will have no choice but to cover the event. If the media provides coverage it not only gets the message out, but keeps the roaches under the rocks. They hate the light=truth

Lion, I don't know what you are going off on one for, I along with many think it would be fantastic to watch and hear a Sikh band playing. Maybe you should contact the EDL sSupport Group with that idea, it's Top Draw. NS

I don't understand why you've got the hump but I appreciate your passion. As far as I am concerned the homecoming parade is nothing to do with the EDL, we don't organise it and we certainly shouldn't hijack it. We go and applaud our troops as regular British Citizens in a calm and dignified and respectful manner. I'm sure if the drummers wrote to the C.O. of the Gurkha regiment offering their services they would be delighted at the offer. There are ways and means of doing things.

I think that the parade should be the only focus of the day here.

As for the drumming band - I would love to see them at official EDL events. I don't even care about the media, I think it would be a wonderfully enjoyable sight.

^^^^^^That.
The jihadis need the piss taking out of them. The British public will forgive anything except a lack of humour.
We should have a laugh, they will spit their dummies every time. It's what they do.
Also, the Sikh drummers is a great idea, give things a carnival atmosphere, let the muzzies rain on the parade.
As regards the Gurkha (or any military) parade, that's a whole different animal. I'll be in Nuneaton, suited and booted and showing my respects. It's their day, after all.

LionSingh: we think the drummers are a wonderful idea, so why the offence?

I think for parades, the day is for the soldiers - people are suggesting not to go in EDL 'colous' so not to detract from the soldiers. That's the only point about not taking the drummers there.

But drummers at an EDL demo? Yes! Excellent! People here are well into the idea!

Yes to marches, Nuneaton isn't a march, maybe they could show there support at this one without the drums if they are so committed?

A fantastic idea though, would love to see them alongside us :-)

Has anyone got a link to the MAC site where they claimed they would disrupt last sundays march?
Post that around then people will know exactly why EDL were there,
we were there for that reason
So mac are the bad guys, and the local islamists that tried to surround the pub are also the bad guys In this whole scenario,
we have the upper hand on all fronts, start digging and get some facts to present,

otherwise were just all typing bullshit,

Lionsingh, please understand mate, that we are fighting on many fronts, and we have to carefully evaluate what we do, where we appear, etc.

I'm not sure that anyone has mentioned this to you yet, but EDL has quite a number of Sikhs on board. Guaramit Singh is on the leadership committee, a beautiful sikh woman gave a rousing speech at the first Dudley demo, and I've been in contact with her ever since. I've met at least 3 other sikhs at other demos, and there were others who I thought might be sikh, but never got a chance to talk to them.

We're glad to see you here on the forum, we like your passion and your knowledge. We like that you are reaching out to other sikhs. However, Nuneaton and the Gurkhas may not be the best time for a Sikh band.

That doesn't mean that they won't be welcome at other demos. You see that many are positive about the idea, but others think it might not be the right idea for this demo.

A lot of planning/liasion has to go into the demos.

Believe it or not, but the jews and the homos in EDL also have to think carefully about when/how they make their presence felt at different demos. Not so much that anyone much has objected, but we have been on these demos for the last 6 months and we generally know what is and what is not appropriate. We probably err on the side of caution.
