Not even a mention of Charlene's family attending, even though they can be seen in the photograph used.

"More than 60 armed police officers, as well as riot vans"

Nice one, what are they going to do shoot us now

"Our intelligence suggests it was a protest about Charlene Downes' case being discontinued."

Best they fire the intelligence dept, if they had to guess

No wonder there is still no justice for poor, Charlene if this is the calibre of responsibility

to the Blackpool public. It's heartbreaking to think that good people gave of their time and

travelled from far and wide to show support for, Charlene and her family, only to be vilified by a 3rd rate rag.

Whoever the pathetic prick was who wrote that piece ought to be sacked, this was about the murder of a young girl

and they just passed on it.

Like some one has suggested before on this forum we need to get in touch with the firms who advertiser in the newspaper

and let them know and of better alternatives ways of advertising.

The Media in this country is now just as much an enemy as the islamification of the UK.

I believe that the EDL should be taking the media on, and not on their terms, but on ours. There's no point trying to cozy up to the media, because they're infested with common purpose, Fabian society, English hating journalists and editors.

The police are there not only to control you but also to protect you. As a group you may be noisy and come across as agressive but islam has some real nutters, we have all seen the indiscriminate carnage that just one of these nutters can cause. Yes armed police and riot vans and ambalances on standby will be in attendance in the background of all demonstrations that speak out against islam, if it all goes wrong it is the police that have to regain control before the paramedics will be allowed in to treat the injured. Please remember this at the next demo the police may stop or divert you because they may have INT. of an attack on you.

Did anyone prepare a press pack for the local media at least a week before the march?
Was a report on the march and good photo's supplied to the media directly afterwards?
The press have deadlines to be met it is up to you to beat them.

Tobias, with respect, this is a social movement not Hello magazine. What does a 'press pack' contain exactly? (for us laymen)
Back in the real world, the Charlene Downes demo was something which no right-ring slant could be attached. It was a worthwhile cause, protesting at the abandonment of the state of a family who have lost their daughter. The crowd was well behaved, the family joined them and one was heard to say 'You lot are the only ones who care about my granddaughter' that is why it wasn't covered mate, no salacious angle could be obtained

I wasn't knocking him, but I know the leadership have tried to establish a good relationship with the press in the past. The press, unless it portrays the common Nazi/Thugs stereotype, don't want to play fair. The NUJ has marched against the EDL, most journalists are in the NUJ. The media they work for is owned by people with the same agenda as them. The answer isn't better lines of communication with the press, they couldn't have put any negative slant on that march, that is the sole reason there was so little coverage.
These people don't want to give anyone patriotic the chance to voice a well reasoned argument, it is censorship, pure and simple by an unfree press

The police did stop us on the way in, they pulled us over and asked why we were there, they knew anyway, but the two that stopped us were ok, had a bit of a laugh with us, told us where to park.

As for armed coppers, I never noticed them but I did see the vans there, a couple anyway.

All in all, it was a good day, I do wish there had been more to show their support but if I was a member of the family, I would have been impressed of how many had turned up.

Hopefully, the press will rewrite this piece and report it as it should be.

clee1970 your photo tells the story.

Our community is growing and somewhere within our midst there are probably tallented people with the skills we need, proffessional people do donate their time and knowledge to courses that they believe in. it could be that the attitude of some member is leading them to believe that because they are middle class and well heeled they are not wanted and they are keeping their heads down even though they are in complete agreement with us. Remember Churchill came from a privaliged back ground, he was a public school boy, a jounalist and an officer in the army definitky not working class, but he was a PATRIOT.
As most of you will have realised my spelling is horrendous and punctuation a complete mystery my English teacher always said my first language was gibberish trying to master the written English language, in stead he gave me a love of reading and for that I shall be ever grateful, I dont think I am the right person to be envolved with the press.

There was a very long thread on here a while back where people divulged what

job they did, it will surprise you to know that there were lots of white collar professional

EDL members. Examples that I recall were, teacher, middle management, banker, business owners,

computer programmer, commodity traders, etc.

It doesn't pay to make assumptions about the EDL.
----
As for the press release, if you write out a press release we have people on here who will correct any mistakes in spelling/grammar you may make.
Doesn't look like they are going to change this story anytime soon.

Copied from the Blackpool Demo Thread to make sure people see it:

Posted by Arrylad:

Ref the report in Blackpool Gazette Casuals Media contacted the employee who allegedly said there were armed police there he told us he said nothing of the sort he said there was no trouble but there were armoured vehicles there. Please dont contact the paper as they have promised to correct the story. Joe has sent them pics and correct facts. Lets see if they print it first.

I think the EDL is consituted of people from all backgrounds, however if one looks at the motivating force behind the far left they seem to be people from a predomiinately priviliged backgrounds. It makes you wonder in which inner city they live, eerrmm?

2 bits i like in that article, guessing... wow a simple click onto the forum would have given them that info, no need to guess.

second bit is this: At an EDL protest about Islamic extremism in Stoke-on-Trent earlier this year, 17 people were arrested, with four officers injured, when EDL supporters broke through police cordons.

there was no trouble here so we will remind you of when there was lol
I demand that England stay free and English

the way the media act, one must question the potential for the police to actually take a prosecution for indictment of violence. Printing half baked truths, which give the wrong information, or is misleading has a tendency to be read as the truth by many, this in turn could cause problems ...

Take the fact that this particular article makes reference to the police being armed, so does this imply that the EDL were armed (we know they were not) but the point i am making here is, by saying that, thsoe counter demonstrators (pointless morons to be frank) will read these storys and think, oh look here they needed armed police so this must mean the EDL is armed therefore, we need to be armed when we counter demo ..... ok you see the picture i am trying to paint here right ...

The misleading, nonfactual press reports, will get someone killed ... so the police really need to start hitting these papers and prosecuting them with indictment of violence or something ....
