Hello to everyone! I currently reside in Japan therefore I am sometimes a few days behind. I have just read an article about the EDL which was published in The Guardian. Like usual, we had the usual anti-working class propoganda and this was followed by the more worrying thing is that "you have middle-class followers who also fear radical Islam." Let us turn it on its head. The Guardian supports equal rights for women, freedom for homosexuals, conforms to a socialist leaning, and supports a free press. The EDL supports the British way of life and this way of life believes in religious freedom, sexual freedom, a free press, equality for women, democracy, and so forth. The EDL is neither right-wing or left wing (I am socialist but I support the EDL and its motives). Radical Islam suppots no religious freedom, killing homosexuals, killing apostates from Islam, chopping hands and feet off for very small crimes, stoning women to death for adultery, and to control power by enslaving all non-Muslims via dhimmitude and jizya (forcing high taxes on non-Muslims). Now - surely The Guardian should be supporting at least elements of the EDL when compared with radical Islam? This is the crazy reality of the U.K. because it is often liberal minded people who are taking the side of radical Islam but radical Islam is against everything they believe in. The only one positive to take out of the article is that it will lead to more people searching the EDL. Only one note of caution; the far-right must not be allowed to destroy or work from within. The EDL from my knowledge supports the British way of life and liberty and freedom. http:://themoderntokyotimes.wordpress.com http://leejaywalker.wordpress.com http://islamicpersecution.wordpress.com |

Does the EDL contact newspapers directly in order to express their dismay at such a one sided article? |

I agree with you. It is crazy. But it shows me that the newspapers dance to a tune played by someone else. Their report of the Geert Wilders demo was the only fair report. For them to do this hatchet job (using footage from January) that their undercover stooges know is not typical of EDL, shows people are worried. Like I say, maybe it's time to have an Anarchists Division to give the lefties somewhere to go. There are a few anarchists in EDL.... |

Leejay, I don't know, but I think we need to do this. If anyone in EDL admin can tell us yea or nay, then I will write a complaint based on that video evidence. I think the bias is obvious. |

As said above, you know something is growing and of real significance when you have undercover reporters trying to destroy the reputation by publishing a very biased report. THERE'S NO SUCH THING AS BAD PUBLICITY. With every "inside story", or dodgy TV programme, the EDL grows more and more. |

"One ought never to turn one's back on a threatened danger and try to run away from it. If you do that, you will double the danger. But if you meet it promptly and without flinching, you will reduce the danger by half. Never run away from anything. Never!" "You have enemies? Good. That means you've stood up for something, sometime in your life." Winston Churchill | |

Hello Homo Sapien and Georgie Rules. I agree that publicity is better than no publicity; but newspapers must be challenged when the article is clearly using language which could be deemed to be "liable?" I welcome both your comments and it would be interesting to know, wouldn't it Homo Sapien? Afrer all, the EDL must protect its image and The Guardian is using the lowest common denominator in order to rebuke the EDL. However, the EDL clearly supports the values of the United Kingdom and it is not a far-right organization because the EDL is open to all ethnic and religious groups and to people of no faith. The EDL is neither right-wing or left-wing or whatever; it is about protecting our way of life. |

With regards to the footage of people shouting from the coach on the Gaurdian website's video, I was on the first coach from the train station & we had a few cars full of muslims give us very graphic hand signals to demonstrate what they thought of us. I'm not suprised that some people reacted to this kind of thing but if the report was fair & unbiased this should have been mentioned, even though it would have weakened their case against us. After all who doesn't react when being on the recieving end of such hand gestures? We are only human after all |

Hello MARV. Thank you for the information and again, it is clear that the article is not showing you the bigger picture. In the heat of the moment anything can happen; and your honesty is something that The Guardian does not have when it comes to this article. Thank you! |
