Incredible statements about the EDL demo in Newcastle in the Daily Mail. These journalists are really thick; it's not even a question of bias. They just don't bother doing their homework. I really think we should be actively trying to recruit Muslims into EDL. It would clear up a lot of this racial tension, and it would help de-radicalize Islam. Protests marches are one way to, it certainly attracts a lot of attention, but it doesn't answer the questions of 'how' we are supposed to go about turning Islamic militancy. |

Where was the Muslim population's condemnation of 9/11? Where was the Muslim population's condemnation of the Madrid bombings? Where was the Muslim population's condemnation of the Beslan school siege? Where was the Muslim population's condemnation of the 7/7 attacks? Where was the Muslim population's condemnation of the Russian subway attacks? Where is the Muslim population's condemnation of inter-faith fighting? Where is the Muslim population's condemnation of church burnings around Islamic countries? Where is the Muslim population's condemnation of forced pre-pubescent child marriages? There isn't/war any. How on earth do you expect us to recruit Muslims when they fail to do the above? |

Yes, not many of them are stepping forward. But if we push the Muslim population as a whole, they might turn to radicalization - more so. I'm not saying we should be accommodating or be "understanding" to extremists, but we do need to encourage more non-violent Muslims to speak out. One of the problems I can think of for them is fear. Fear that they will be targeted by other Muslims. Or maybe we should just ask them why they aren't coming forward. Edited by Rookie, Jun 1 2010, 11:29 AM.
