I am just wondering what is the position of the EDL on EU membership? I consider myself to be a moderate member of the EDL - I don't agree with the BNP, I have many black and asian friends & some muslim friends that I regularly drink with in the local pub....obviously they are not islamic extremists! (I am a white English person btw) I know many of you will not agree with me here, but my personal opinion is that we should be much more integrated with our European partners, I would like to form a kind of United States of Europe, we could be so powerful if we all stood together....and we could resist the threat of islamic extremists much easier too! But hey, I'm new here, just throwing in my opinion! NO SURRENDER! |

We don't have to be in the EU to 'resist' islamic extremism. |

We had co-operation in trade and military, the Eu we have now is nothing but a dictatorship forced on us
The only reason we are together is so some people can get rich and monopolise power, would you like the fact someone from some foreign EU state decide to send your family off to war? We have always been intergrated with europe we share a long and great history together but we have been sold out, we can no longer decide what is good for us...this is to be done by the supra-state who obviously know better than us mere peasants. I dont think a great state will bein any better position to fend off islamic extremists, its up to every country to play thier part. National goverments should know how to run things better than some idiots in brussels dont you think ? Anyway its too early to go to deep into this now but you should be careful what you wish for in my opinion

hmmm, well I did say that I didn't expect you to agree with me....Belgium has already banned the wearing of the burka in public....it looks likely that France will also be doing the same soon, will the UK be doing that anytime soon? Our European friends seem to be far ahead of us in preventing islam extremists, why can't we join them? |

We should leave the EU immediately, people don't need politics, legislation and an undemocratic and corrupt administration several layers thick to cooperate ! |

I agree we should maintain friendly relations with Europe, but none of this USE. I'd like Britain to be able to govern itself, with our own national identity, instead of just being a part of Europe. |

Europe is so different from the U.S. The wonderful thing about Europe is history, and each and every country has its own unique history in Europe. The EU is not designed with the purpose of gaining power for Europe... it is designed to deliberately take away sovereignty of each European country to make them all absorb together and make each country lose their identity that way they can be plundered faster by the 3rd world hordes. Only elites and big corperations benefit from it, while the rest of the general population sits and watches their history and pride and language be lost. |

we should leave the e.u. we should be free to decide our own destiny. at least if we don't like/agree with politicians in this country, we can vote to remove them. i don't like being told how to live my life by someone unelected by the british people and with no means to hold them to account. |

EU is a pointless system, and government body. We had good relations before the EU, so there's no point being apart of it. |

Hello IF As far as I am aware Belgium hasn't banned the Burka because its government collapsed before it could do so. I do not believe in the EU as a single political entity. All I see is a superbloc building exercise with no regards for poorer citizens in the wealthier nations. Now we are rid of the tyrants of New Labour I see no reason why we should have to hope for European partners to do the right thing. However have our European partners done the right thing. The Rep of Ireland voted against the Lisbon Treaty and what happened. The King of Europe i.e. Sarkozy demanded they vote again and such was the political pressure the Irish even had members of their church telling people to vote yes. This is not democracy or freedom but grand larceny. It is corruption at the highest level from people that were elected to serve the interests of their people but only serve their own personal interests. We saw it when Blair took us into Iraq, we saw it when Brown reneged on the Lie-bour promise of a referendum on the EU and we have seen it with the expenses scandal. It is time to get out of Europe and return the UK to simply a trading relationship. I see no benefits to the ordinary people of the UK in pursuing political union. Regards |

well fair play to everyone that answered me, I do agree that there is serious curruption in the EU parliament in Brussels....we need to join them and root out the EU polititions that are corrupt...i.e. most of them! I strongly agree that they are in it to get as much as they can personally, this is obviously wrong & we need to sort this out....we need to change the way our Euro MP's are elected |

The EU is an illegal dictatorship with its ideas and conception based in Nazi Germany during WWII. I respect your opinion, but sadly you have been misinformed by the media and the government. Islamic extremism and mass immigration are two methods the EU is using to destroy Britain and other nations. Eventually the EU will probably try to wipe them out anyway. I suggest you take a look at the links in my signature. Edited by BritainUnite, May 28 2010, 03:58 AM.
