Iv never really took too much interest but I saw a peice about it on the beeb yesterday. I think its amaizing how so many people were mobilised in such a short space of time. After watching I turned to my mate and said ''If theres any reason to be proud of being British, Thats it'' He just said ''Yep''

What I can not understand is why the french army didn't make a stand so as to let the British Expeditionary Force. Retreat faster.history records show the french throw away there rifles and other and get to dunkirk before many of the B E F.
The french had the numbers hundreds of thousands to mount a counter offence.and the french capitulated.

No wonder churchill ordered the french navy to be destroyed.
