Hey all B-)

The fact that this site has seen so many trolls in recent times is quite something. It is a compliment and it means we are making a difference.

However lets not let our forum get dragged down by these people, even though we always have a good laugh at thier foolishness.

We have a great set of 'Troll hunters' here who need no tips on how to spot one but here are a few things we can all look out for!

Different kinds of internet trolls.

The question askers - those who ask a lot of questions like they are polling almost. Which candidate do you guys like best? How many people here live in Blue states? How does everyone feel about such and such for a candidate? Or how many people attended such and such a rally or are members of such and such group. I am not saying that all question askers are from the other side but I am saying be wary of them.

There are those who ask for sources all the time. Oh where did you read that? Do you have the link for the original piece? I would like to read more on this issue, can you direct me to your sources? Kind of person. Most people will want to know some people/s sources for certain things but not everything - and there are some people who just ask for sources and hardly comment on anything else.

Be careful because the other side is working hard to squash the information flow on the internet. By directing them to the places we get our information you are actually endangering our information flow unless you can be sure. Otherwise share your sources with the blog posters - they are looking to stop information of a certain kind now. It is a fine line because you want people to have the information you have but you don't want to dime them out either. Just use your best judgement and watch out for those always asking for sources is all.

The ones that come on too strong too fast. They want to be your best friend and right away. They will email you if they can or ask you to email them about something. They will agree with everything you say and everything everyone else says from your side. And they often have some similar career or idea as you do too.

A person who brings life to a tired, dull internet message board by purposeful attempts to start flame wars or Internet drama by posting comments that are patently f**ktarded, yet still inflammatory enough to enrage the stupid, irrational and humorless. The moment someone points out that the troll in question was just gunning for a reaction usually results in a fire drill.

A person that throws around the troll insult to: anyone who defeats them in an argument, anyone who points out facts the real troll doesn't want people to know, or someone the real troll picks at random to stick falsely with a troll label for sheer lulz. This second type of troll is 98.99% of all trolls now and is often called an Anti-troll.

Be wary of the ones you just don't trust for some reason or another. You may just be paranoid and have no reason to not trust them but all we have to go on these days is our intuition. Just try to be open to the fact that you may be wrong. If you are not sure still - then discuss it with others whom you have relationships with on the board but do so OFF the board. Go to the friend who is most likely to say your wrong too - check yourself.

It is good to remember that having a healthy mindset or a good heart is hard to fake with those that don't. They would have to be very well skilled and trained and the chances of them wasting their very skilled and top infiltrators are not as great as we might suspect. Plus their resources are not that great considering their number one qualification is to be loyal to them no matter what. f**k the training and the skill or aptitude test scores. ;)

The best way to learn how to detect a troll is to be a troll. Try to find some Uaf/islamic loving Freako site to infiltrate. There are not many who will let you just sign up but those that do will bleep you right off the site the instant they smell your dissention. I am saying that you shouldn't lie and pretend to be anything you are not but make short comments or play a game to see how long you can remain a member who actively posts before they bleep you. The idea is learning how to say something slick so they can't sniff you out at first. Hell if you want, try to be their friends but since we have no agenda or any reason to infiltrate their scene and rather we are simply taking a training course in trollism so we can better pop them, I wouldn't suggest having that energy in your life but who knows, you may learn a lot. You will see how good they are at deleting you and how frustrating it is and you will also learn just what it takes to be an undetected troll - it really helps learn the trade and therefore spot one a mile a way.

Never expect a troll to apologise like i have said before on this forum

'Any troll who succumbs to troll's remorse, apologizes, or otherwise fails to deliver the lulz. A troll must never admit that they are a troll (especially whilst trolling), otherwise they have failed. An unsuccessful troll ends his career with a slow, sad retreat back to the Fail cave.'
:owned:

I remember Clee39 having a really good picture of a fail cave on another thread here, although i dont know how to upload it sorry

Trolling was invented by Prof. Arnold Socrates and called Socratic Irony. It was performed IRL. Unfortunately, primitive people found irony confusing and scary, so they forced him to drink hemlock and die.

Quite possibly one of the lulziest cases of historical trolling occurred in 1857 in the British colony of India. The British included native born soldiers, both Muslim and Hindu, into their army, and then royally pwned their asses by putting pig grease on the bullet cartridges for the Muslim soldiers, and cow grease on the bullet cartridges for the Hindu soldiers. These are paper cartridges, mind you, and every soldier was trained to bite open the wrapping in order to pour the gunpowder down the barrel. It was later recorded in the respective holy books of the two religions that every one of these soldiers burned for eternity in the fiery pits of hell.

Much lulz ensued until the Hindus and the Muslims found out and staged a revolt. Then the British killed them all, and even more lulz were had by all.

Trolling was later taught as a college-level course by Professor Tim Pierce, resulting in Wikicide.

NOW thats how you troll ! :biggun:

Why do the trolls when 'outed' still insist they aren't one even in the face of irrefutable evidence?

I knew trolling went on but I thought it was just people being vindictive. I didn't realise that for some groups of people it was a sport ffs!

Nice work on here by the "Troll Hunters". The recent trolls certainly had me fooled a few times but then I didn't know what to look for.

I suppose experience breeds an instinct for these people. From what I have seen so far they all appear to have a pattern which when I think about it stands out a mile.

Whoever they are or wherever they come from they all out themselves in the end. :D

Some great points there mate but as I have asked ppl to source their info a few times am a bit worried.

What is wrong with asking for the source if its already in the public domain.

I am not going to automatically accept teverything that is posted even if the poster has done so in good faith that doesnt mean to say its right.

This applies to all info whether on the face of it it is bad or even good for us.

I know am not the only one to ask for a source/link.

Good post about trolling. :)

When they come on here they learn the true meaning of failure-

they learn, at least, one of life's lessons. We should charge them tuition fees!

I almost feel sorry for them but by the time I stop laughing the

feeling has passed. :D :D

For anyone wondering what a Troll is...
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Troll_(Internet)
seems most of the trolls we get are of this variety...

A concern troll is a false flag pseudonym created by a user whose actual point of view is opposed to the one that the user's sockpuppet claims to hold. The concern troll posts in web forums devoted to its declared point of view and attempts to sway the group's actions or opinions while claiming to share their goals, but with professed "concerns". The goal is to sow fear, uncertainty and doubt within the group.

oh yes plenty of them!

slight correction in 1857 the Lee-Enfield used a waxed cartridge which required the soldier to bite the end off and pour the powder down the barrel followed by the bullet and then the waxed paper cartridge which was then used as wadding. Deliberate rumours were spread amongst muslims that the wax was actually pig grease, whilst amongst the hindus the rumour spread that the wax was cow grease. The truth was that it was a wax not a grease. It was these rumours which triggered the horrendous Indian Mutiny. It was all fiction and lies but the British army at the time did nothing to quell the rumours or try to disprove them.

It's good practice baiting them. AFter all, if they come over here to troll they have to expect the level anti-trolling. It's fun watching them get owned.
