England branded least patriotic nation in Europe as citizens are too scared to fly the flag

The English are the least patriotic people in Europe, a St George's Day poll found today.

Their fear of being smeared as racist is greater than their enthusiasm for expressing their love of their country, it found.

Only one in ten would happily fly the cross of St George to celebrate their national saint's day.

Maybe it's because right wing Nazi nutters are now associated with the English/British flags. When I see these flags, it's like looking at a Swastika. Maybe Nazis should be banned from using these flags and stick to the Swastika which is more appropriate, and then good decent people wouldn't be ashamed of the national flags anymore.

Stupid c**t, anyone?

It's a shame, we had a massive St.George flag flying at the top of my college but someone from the pulic complained so the caretaker took it down!

That used to be treason. Anyone that's got a problem with this country's flag is a traitorous dog and should be deported to a country that flies their flag of allegience.

My flag will flying St Georges Day and anybody telling me to take it down will be told to f**k right off!

I have never been scared before I just haven't been as patriotic as I am now.

We Brits need to stand up and be counted and flying the flag is one way of doing that.

Sorry but f**k the Queen & the entire Royal Family . How British people can still be so brainwashed as to actually want to worship someone who kept English working people in bondage so they could continue to live a life of luxury baffles me . I would hang the lot of them starting with Charles

These polls are bulls**t, it depends who you ask, what part of the country your asking and so-on. The politicians and media are s**t scared of English natiolism, and like to put the boot in where ever possible, the English are a war like people and very tribal and when we start we go for it, we are a proud nation, and when threatened unite, this as always been our strength.

What pisses me off is they always blame the BNP and White-nationalist organisations for highjackng the flag but te real problem in my eyes is all these arseholes who don't put there flag out in fear of being called rasist. If we all jump on the bandwagon we can all beat this. Il have mine out.

It's royalty that add a lot of character to this great country. Find me another person who at 84 works as hard as the queen promoting this country and representing its ideals. I'd rather put my money there than to immigrants soaking it up in benefits who do absolutely f**k all for our nation.
I would agree though that there are too many hangers-on to the royal family, A bit of a trim would be good.

Amazes me that the Dutch are the most patriotic. Off course I know we are a proud people and that's a thing to applaude, but I had actually thought the French or Italians to be the most.

What amazes me even more, is that the English have such little of it, while your immediate neighbours the Scottish and the Welsh are second and third on the list.
Where does that stem from?

For far too long our own government have hated the English celebrating our Englishness. We're ruled by Scotsmen who shouldn't be sitting in our parliament. The Scots have theres and good luck to them. But these same people tell us it's racist or offensive to celebrate St Georges day.

It needs also for the ethnic minorieties to stand up and tell the authorities that they are not offended or find it racist. This is what happened in Hounslow and we got St Georges day back and the local council flying the St George Cross from the civic centre. Hounslow, it must be remembered is heavily South Asian/African/Far Asian dominated so it was good for the whole community for them to get us back St Georges Day!

The Royal Family are an intrinsic part of the rich tapestry that is British culture, heritage and history.
The Royal Family have always been, and still remain a rallying point for the patriots of this country in times of need. It is still the one thing which unites us and we may well need uniting in the near future.
Not to mention the revenue that is brought to this country by them in the form of tourists, who can't get enough of them and the associated pagentry. It seems to me that every nation on this earth is jealous of our monarchy, and I for one will die before I see it removed. You concentrate on stringing up Pam eh and leave the royals out of it.

I'd rather the Royal family than say President Blair or the new president of the EU...that Belgian geezer, you know the one, who looks like a low-grade bank clerk and has the personality of a dish-cloth. I'd Rather Prince Phil giving us a laugh everytime he talks to a foreigner than Cherie Blair smiling like a great White shark swimming in a bucket full of fish!
