Some early coverage of the demo in Berlin can be found at Politically Incorrect: http://www.pi-news.net/2010/04/berlin-ein-zeichen-fuer-demokratie-und-freiheit/

The article is in German but the first photo shows an EDL flag on the stage and one lower down shows me giving a short speech with Union Jack.

I will post more material later.

Some coverage in the Dutch press: http://www.pi-news.net/wp/uploads/2010/04/het_parool1.jpg That article suggests 150 people there and mentions the "Far Right English Defence League" ;)

The following is the brief speech that I did: http://www.libertiesalliance.org/2010/04/19/a-need-for-unity-%E2%80%93-speech-at-the-solidarity-with-geert-wilders-demonstration-in-berlin-on-17-april/

The following is my brief speech at the Berlin demonstration. This was the original speech but I think I might have changed a few things during the speech itself:

Greetings from England!

Yesterday a group of us from the International Civil Liberties Alliance and the English Defence League drove across Europe to be with you here today.
We are here to show solidarity with you and demonstrate unity in the global resistance against sharia. An Icelandic volcano could prevent us; our dhimmie government did not prevent us; and the Islamists will never prevent us from standing shoulder to shoulder with our allies in the global counter jihad movement.

The message we bring is one of the need for unity. The English Defence League has demonstrated how it is possible to bring former adversaries together in common cause to protect a cherished way of life. They have demonstrated that people of difference ethnic backgrounds, different sexualities, and different social classes can work together to protect freedom from the tyranny of sharia.

Similar groups with similar values are necessary across Europe and the world. These groups should be allies and work closely together. We have a shared interest in protecting: freedom of expression; the rights of women; the principle of equality before the law; and indeed democracy itself.
As far as I can see, these are the same values that are held by the Dutch leader, Geert Wilders, who we support and honour hear today.

United we stand divided we fall!

No Surrender!

We have allies everywhere and the EDL going to Germany in solidarity with our German friends only reinforces our commitment to tackling the filth that is Islamism, the worldwide cancer.

How about we go for a commonwealth defence league too?

I think that's an excellent idea and it may be worth pursuing further by 'the powers that be'.

Crikey.

Really nice idea but I hope there are enough peeps with significant disposable income to be able to afford regular jollies to other countries.

Hope that some can.

Yeah of course your right LN, but obviously I wasn’t thinking in terms of actually attending demo’s etc, more in terms of maybe having a central body or group where each individual Country’s Defence Leagues could unite and pool their resources. (England, Wales, Scotland, NI, Australia, Canada, New Zealand etc).

You never know, some of the African Commonwealth Countries might also decide to form their own defence leagues and join in, after all they have just as much reason to defend themselves against radical Islam as we do.

Also,I quite like the idea of seeing a ‘Commonwealth Defence League’ banner displayed at EDL Demo’s. :)

I think its a great idea.

Perhaps if the UK EDL had an elected leadership and a paying membership "UK EDL ambassadors" could be funded to go and give visible support to our friends in foreign climes who are trying to organise their own defence groups against militant islam.

I'd be willing to pay a small annual membership fee/donation and would imagine that many others would as well. As long as it was transparent.

I vote for Homo Sapiens as internaitonal freedom spokesman!
