I'm sure similar topics have been posted, however I thought i'd stick my two pence in.. So logically, labour and conservative are at neck and neck on opinion polls, with the conservative sometimes only with a 5% lead. Now my opinion is conservative and labour aren't THAT different, and we all know it. So at first my opinion was, screw that I aint voting for any because there alike and we want change right? and if I was able to vote, I would vote for UKIP at that time, however... lets keep it logical, the more votes for minority parties like UKIP gives Labour a chance to regain power, less people who vote conservative and waste votes elsewere means bigger chance of labour. I know, conservative isn't much different.. but can they be any worse? In my opinion the only way to sod of Gordon Brown is to make sure Conservative beat them.. although thats just my opinions and others are welcome. |

My thoughts as well Ash, Labour have totally fucked this country and it's time for a change. Not to keen on Conservatives but realistically there isn't any other option atm. I think the worst thing that could happen is a hung parliament as it would give the Liberals to much influence, Lab/Con are all ready sucking up to them.

Thing that scared me last night was the debate, lib dems winning the opinion polls, I know it doesn't mean much when it comes to actual vote, but it is scary that even a small amount of people thought lib dems "won" the debate.. an amnesty on illegals? come on. |

Yes the Liberals immigration policy would be a disaster, if we have a amnesty it would be a green light to the people traffickers to take the piss. Any illegals should be sent home immediately, if they try to then claim asylum there are obviously lying as they would have done this in the first safe country they passed through. Time to get tough! |

You've got it spot on mate. Ive been saying it on here for a while - people have to think very carefully before they vote. Anyone in a marginal constituency should vote Conservative. If you vote for any other party you are handing Labour another five years in government. Im no great fan of the Tories but they would be a much better option than Labour. Regards what people on here are primarily concerned about - immigration and terrorism - the Tories would be tougher than Labour and for that reason alone I hope people vote for them. |

The libdems are socialists in sheeps clothing (or should that be centrist clothes). Voting for them would be worse than voting labour. If one were to vote for one of the main three parties the vote would have to go to the Tories. This is simply because traditionally they have always been good with the economy (it was both Thatcher and Major who ensured we had a strong viable economy), Labour have always wrecked the economy. You can go right back to 1945 when Labour finally gained the kind of support and power they craved and nationalised everything. That was Britains catastrophe. The economy was ruined. The Tories got back in and rebuilt it until we reached the '70's and the Unions and Labour worked to destroy the economy and the country. I would vote UKIP personally, but I also feel we need to ensure that Labour doesn't get back in. |

Marginal seats (click me I'm a link) After a bit of searching, I found this website, which shows you marginal seats. Assuming you want Labour out, you can search for Labour seats that are close to defeat (and vote for whoever is most threatening them) or search for Conservative seats that are close to defeat (and vote for Conservative who are the only realistic alternative to Labour at this time). If you're in none of those seats then you're good to go for a protest vote (Respect party yeh? - lol!). Edited by Tread Softly, Apr 16 2010, 05:58 PM.

Liberals ahead of Labour in some polls. http://news.uk.msn.com/uk/articles.aspx?cp-documentid=153046182
When a candidate enters their party into an election they have to pay a deposit of (I think) £500, if they fail to reach the minimum required number of votes they lose that money. So if you don't want to vote, use it to prevent a minor party from losing their deposit. This is to prevent loads of people entering the election. |
