Al-Qaida's North African branch has threatened to attack the World Cup Football finals in South Africa which start in June. "How amazing could the match between the United States and England be if, during a live broadcast with a stadium packed with spectators, the sound of an explosion rumbles through the stands, the whole stadium is turned upside down and the numbers of dead bodies are in their dozens and hundreds, God willing," the statement says. http://www.ndtv.com/news/world/al-qaida-threatens-to-attack-world-cup-football-finals-19610.php |

Dodgy place to go without al-qaida threats an average of 50 people per day are murdered in South Africa, i watched a programme a few years back and in the Cape town area there were vigilante islamic groups springing up then, God knows what its like now. |

I think South Africa is just an unsafe place to hold such an event anyways. I know they have to bid and all the influx of supporters will boost the economy so much but is it really worth it when peoples lives are at stake. |

I can't imagine their security is up to much. And there are now loads of African countries used as safe havens for Islamists. Kenya is apparently full of them. Let's hope nothing happens, no one loses their lives...and England's World Cup victory is not interrupted! |
