Hi Z

Although I don't know much about the Freedom Party in Austria they did sound rather dubious under their former leader Jorge Haider who died in a car accident a few years ago. He was said to have addressed a group of ex Waffen SS members stating that the younger generation could learn a lot from them.

For the sake of argument let's just assume that the Freedom Party under Jorge Haider were a neo Nazi party and then focus on Turkey. The Turks recently voted in a politically Islamist party to govern their nation however the leaders of the Turkish military stated that if the Government attempted to put in place hardline Islamic rule then they would overthrow the Government of Turkey. Does that sound like a nation that should be welcomed into the EU?

For the average person I would reckon it doesn't. However I read a report a few years ago from an independent news source collating surveys from the EU nation states as to their attitudes towards Turkey joining. I think most would imagine that the biggest against vote would come from Greece. Whilst the Greek vote was one of the highest approx 75:25 against. The largest approx 80:20 were from Germany, Denmark and Austria. In the case of Germany then it has the largest population of Turks anywhere in Europe.

I guess it won't surprise anyone to hear that out of all the EU member states at the time the UK was one of only a few that didn't have a survey. However the report stated that the UK was in favour of Turkey joining and gave a statement by then Foreign Secretary Jack Straw. Now what do we suppose that Straw stated on behalf of the entire nation.. Turkey would be a great partner and the Turkish nation will bring great skills that will strengthen us. No he said that he wanted to prove that East and West can get on together. The man lives in a constituency that a C4 documentary showed that Muslims and non Muslims lived separate lives and were hostile towards each other.

I have no issues in stating that I am centre politics with a lean to socialism. I would also thank God that I was blessed with common sense. We as a nation cannot invite Turkey into the EU at this moment and I am sick of the political and social engineering of know nothing know it all's that seem intent on destroying this nation.

Rant over.

God bless and regards

With Turkey's plan to lay off visa for Islamic migrants, we face a huge problem if they were an EU member.
