Tom Sinden was arrested on the eve of the UAF protest against the EDL for allegedly spray painting anti Nazi slogans in Dudley town centre.

Tom spent months building the demonstration against the EDL—arranging leafleting at colleges across the region and winning other students to joining the protest.

Officers held 16 year old Tom overnight in a police station. They took swabs, fingerprints and photographs, and went to his house and removed UAF leaflets, the placard he had kept from the protest against the BNP annual event in Codnor and an SWP membership form.

His bail conditions state that he is not allowed anywhere in Dudley for eight weeks.

He is not allowed to attend UAF meetings or associate with anyone in UAF—which is a big problem, as his mother is a UAF member.

Hundreds of NUT members signed a petition supporting Tom at this week’s conference.

Serves him right for vandalising!

I wonder if this was the prick who has been putting up all the racist graphite where ever there is an EDL demo? Nazi swastikas and slogans I choose not to repeat!

As for the NUT supporting racist graphite… Well that just speaks volumes!

I'd put money on it. I reckon the OB might have been looking out for him.

Hello Rudyard

I was thinking the same thing as both AD and yourself on this one. I think we will all recall that prior to the Stoke demo there were reports of anti Muslim pro EDL graffiti on a local Mosque with was discovered at 06.00 on the day of the demo. As such clearly no one travelling on the coaches could have done it. Personally I was quite suspicious that the UAF were in possession of this information by the time of the demo itself as per the interview you can find on YouTube starring Weyman Bennett.

Why are NUT members condoning illegal and anti-social behaviour?

Hello Mantra

It's a good point. In my experience of what I have seen via video footage and read then these people don't believe that the law applies to them once they have branded anyone they care to as Nazi or fascist. That is they believe that they are above the law and that the 'Nazi's and fascists' as they see them have no legal status of protection.

Now I am no fan of Nick Griffin and his cronies however I believe that they should have the same rights as everyone else. The UAF/SWP/ANL don't agree. When Nick Griffin was acquitted on race hate charges (which was a trial where I personally felt that freedom of speech was on trial rather than Griffin) I heard any interview after the verdict with a UAF member who happened to be Weyman Bennett.

At the time I thought he was some rank and file that Sky News had picked up off the street on the basis of his colour. The reason that I thought this was the case was he kept saying that the BNP should have no rights and no freedom of speech and in fact no feedom at all i.e. should be locked up.

When shortly after I found out he was one of their leaders I was horrified which lead me to look into his organisation which led me to the simple and only conclusion that they are communists and red fascists. Lee Jasper addressing a UAF meeting in Bristol (easily found on YouTube) admits they are communists and regarding the BNP kept saying he doesn't believe in democracy or the democratic legitimacy of the BNP being voted in by the electorate.

As stated I don't like Griffin. I don't think he has changed and that he is a racist. However I can't help but feel what if Nick Griffin had stated the comments of Weyman Bennett and Lee Jasper in terms of freedom of speech, democracy, democratic legitimacy and basic freedom and human rights. Had he said those same things the Leftists and the middle class right wing press would be calling for his head and saying the BNP is showing its true colours.
