A British man and woman jailed in Dubai for kissing in public have lost their appeal against their conviction.
Ayman Najafi, 24, and Charlotte Adams, 25, were sentenced to a month in prison with subsequent deportation and fined about £200 for drinking alcohol.
The pair were arrested in November after a local woman accused them of breaking the country's decency laws by kissing on the mouth in a restaurant.
Najafi said he was "very disappointed". The pair plan to make a second appeal.
The initial complaint against them was made by a 38-year-old woman who said she was offended by their behaviour at the Jumeirah Beach Residence, where she was dining with her daughter.
'Very harsh'
The pair's defence lawyers said the woman - who did not appear in court - had not seen the kiss herself, but had been told by her two-year-old child that the girl had seen them kissing.

Its a bloody disgrace how they have been treated by both the Dubai authorities and the British consulate.
It was mostly likely naivety on that young couples behalf, after all they come from a country where everything and anything is accepted including how the Muslims the very same people that are holding them against their will have also got the rest of our nation over a barrel and enforcing their ways customs and culture(mosques) onto us.
"Our ancestors took this land. They took it and made it and held it. We do not give up what our ancestors gave us. They came across the sea and they fought here, and they built here and they're buried here. This is our land, mixed with our blood, strengthened with our bone. Ours!"

Nations which go down fighting rise again, those who surrender tamely are finished

Too right, you wouldn't catch me going to one. I've heard Turkey is a nice place, so maybe as an exception when I am older, but I bet its only the best parts which are nice.

True enough.

The only times that I've stopped in the Gulf is when I had to change flights (from Australia, India and Thailand) on my way back here.

Horrible places, no bars and lots of shifty sods giving me the evils. :(

At the end of the day its their country, so their rules should be respected (no matter how stupid they are). So long as their daft laws don't come over here, I have no problem.

dubai is built onslavery I feel sorry for the cepa labour who are brought in and promised a decent standard of living and a wage, only to get thier passports confiscated and foreced to live in slum conditions.

If you live here and decide to go there do your research, and if you get cuaght up in something you've only yourself to blame.

Personally, I'd never go there. plenty of other countries in the world to work or holiday in

Wouldn't take your girl though, they're f**king pervs over there.

My friend who shall not be named, went over there. She was only 15 at the time, and she said she was approached all the time by guys much older than her willing to pay for sex.

today a couple of halfwits broke the law in dubai. they cried about it and nobody cared, so they plan to cry some more.

even if the law seems ridiculous to us, its the law of the land and must be obeyed. we complain when muslims come here and dont repsect or obey our laws so we can hardly cry foul over this.
